THE AMAZING RACE #19 official thread. No Spoilers!! Premieres Sept. 25

I always thought that Marcus was the strongest in the race. After the tobacco challenge I think that he is totally out of shape now that he isn't playing anymore. I am glad that they are still in the race. I like all of the couples that are left, even the brother & sister who seem to have toned down their bickering. I would like either Marcus & Amani or the snowboarders to win.

Sunday was "African Boma Night" for us! We made bobotie, fufu, cheesy quinoa with spinach & an avocado, grapefruit & papaya salad.

I don't know what bobotie and fufu is - what is it?

I found "dad" to be on the offensive this episode. What was up with his sewing comments?

Another non-elimination leg. Is this a record?
He was such a dweeb with those comments! I don't like him at all, but I still like his son.

Seems like a record on NE legs! Especially so early in the race, and two so close together.

Bobotie is a kind of meatloaf that is a specialty of South Africa. I made it with lamb and beef. Fufu is a combination of sweet potatoes and white potatoes mashed with spices.

OMG the whole meal sounds fabudelicious!!!!

Does anyone else think that Macus being a former NFL player still tires easily.
He should have been able to do the tobbaco(sp?) challenge faster
He keeps saying this is the hardest thing I have ever done

He hasn't played professionally for a few years. Like most people, he's probably not in the same shape that he was in 2007.

Why on earth doesn't she just go and get the darn clue from her brother instead of just standing there waiting?:confused3

So sorry if this was a spoiler for anyone! I just noticed my 10 year old posted twice on this thread. She got a little excited about one of her favorite teams winning tonight. She didn't understand that people in other time zones might not have seen it yet.
Again, I apologize.

I'm liking the surfboarders less and less. Four first place wins, they knew they weren't last, and they couldn't let the other team arrive ahead of them? They had to put in that extra burst of speed?

I would've done the same and they are professional competitors. It's a race and like one of them said, if the couple could've beaten them to the mat, they would've.

Anyway, I thought last night's episode was exciting. I'm glad the football couple (sorry, I don't know anybody's name) was able to stay in it. That other whiney couple can go next.

I don't blame them one bit! They're in a race, they know there's a prize for first--in this case, they got $15,000. There's no way I would just hand another team that kind of money.

You don't get to be an Olympian by "letting" someone else take your prize. I can understand Ernie and Cindy being po'd in the moment, but it seemed like they calmed down by interview time. I can see both of those responses--they were mad at first, but the snowboarders did nothing underhanded.

I was also glad to see Amani (sp?) and Marcus catch back up--I like them.

Those people of Malawi have to think that Americans are the biggest nuts on the planet--look, here go crazy Americans carrying friehgt!

Next up, Denmark...

Such a complete and total breakdown - twice. The first time, not keeping the clue with her for reference. And two, for not heading straight back to the starting point, when she was confused.

I have to agree with those that say the foot race to the mat is just a part of the game. No matter the number of wins I and my partner had, I still would have given 110% to beat Ernie and Cindy to the mat. It's a race. The only object of the game is to be the first team to the mat each leg and try not to be the last team there.

So glad to see Marcus and Amani still in it. I loved how they did the unloading of the cargo. Armani sure wasn't afraid to suck it up and carry multipule items at one time. I don't think either Cindy or Sandy would have handled that well at all. They would have been carrying one at a time and complaining the whole time about how hard it was. Cathi one the other hand, would have do as well as Amani did.

I have not liked them since their "our god is better than your god" comments. I think that the final burst of speed to pass Ernie and Cindy made them look a little ruthless and cut-throat. However, I don't blame them for going all out to win. They are fierce competitors and Andy was in the Olympics. THAT is why Ernie and Cindy should have used the U-Turn on them. They knew that Andy and Tommy were hot on their heels and they should have known that they would be outrun in a foot race.

You ain't kidding. That had to be one of the biggest blunders I have seen in a long while. They had to have known, that in a foot race there was ZERO chance of Cindy out running either Andy or Tommy. I would have U-turned them in a heartbeat. In seeing the previews for next week, it does look like they learned a lesson and use a U-turn next week. Hopefully it isn't on Bill and Cathi or Marcus and Amani.

It was a HUGE blunder. I think they thought that Tommy and Andy would be nice to them since they were nice to Tommy and Andy. They certainly learned their lesson to the tune of $15,000. I will be interested in how far apart the teams are at the start next week. I think the other task would have taken a long time, especially after they were already tired from racing all day. I think it would take at least 20 minutes. I don't think the U-Turn would have knocked them out, but it might have put them in the very back of the pack.

At first i thought the same thing, let them win one. Then i realized, heck, they did the challenge and still endede up on whiney girl's heels! And once you have that adrenaline going....
Another fabulous decision for "adventure" dad lets u turn the couple in front of us......

I don't blame the snowboarder boys for trying hard to get to the mat first. I don't think anyone would slow down so another couple could win first, I really don't, not when you know there is a prize involved.

I wasn't unhappy that the brother/sister team went home.

I'm so glad the older couple is still in it, and came in third last night. :thumbsup2 They are doing great!!! I would love to see them win!!
