THE AMAZING RACE 15, Season Starts 09/27/09

I wonder how long the penalty would have been if the girls would have just skipped the hammer part of the task and did the rest. Or would that have been automatic elimination?

Usually skipping something on purpose gets a much bigger penalty than skipping it negligently. I seem to remember people saying that in other season's it was something like 2 hours but I haven't been watching that long. Maybe someone else remembers.

Dh and I cannot stand her. Last week some ppl in the thread thought she might have been affected by the heat. Nope, nadda, she's just a whiner and a nagging wife. We just wanna throw something at her, and her crying and whining during the pitstop cements that feeling. I honestly wonder just how she got to be Miss America or whatever Miss she won.

I thought it was so funny when the Globetrotters said that if they only knew one person's name on the race it would be Bryan's because she's always yelling it. LOL!!!! He seems like a real sweetheart though. Each week I like her less but him more.

I went back and rewatched teh bells area. Good think we have those of you that watched carefully reporting in here. I totally thought it was Meghan's partner and it was one of the brothers, as you stated. I spent way too much time tonight thinking they were going to be eliminated.

I thought it was Karma that the girls were eliminated since Tiffany didn't have to count the bells at all...Dan or Sam gave her the number of the bells. I thought that was kinda cheating since Ericka struggled so much. JMHO

The girls grew on me, they seemed to at least give the challenges their best shot. Erica is on my last nerve and I wanted her eliminated. She seems to be the kind of woman who wants her rewards without working for them. I also chuckled when the Trotters said they have heard "BrYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYan" way too much :lmao:I still want the Trotters to win this, they seem to be such good sports, I especially liked the recap of Mika's last stand :rotfl2:

I was one of those who thought it was Cheyne that had said that they were doing it together, but as I was lamenting that to DH, I figured it out. Smart move to work together. :thumbsup2

Maria has to be one of the weakest players ever. I don't think that she did much of anything on the race (did see her drive, though), so I wasn't too sad to see her gone. Tiffany has the patience of Job.

As does Bryan. Erika was really annoying last night. Her bawling like a baby during their penalty was driving me nuts. And, yes, read the clue!

I knew the GT would do the dance great...choreography is part of their lives!

Loved the bros and dad/son last night.

Ah....time to watch Elimination Station!

Yeah...they were both pretty useless last night. I understand the Detours are tough and I'm sure they did their best but either task clearly took strength and they didn't have it...especially after what...73 or so attempts at the hammer? :rolleyes1

Flight Time and Big Easy had me laughing the whole show especially after the herring and onions. FT didn't want to talk about it but he DID want to talk about the dancing!

I think the remaining teams are all tough and I don't think there is a clear favorite to win. The weakest team is Brian and Ericka...no question.
;)

The 'Trotters were a hoot to watch last night. They jumped right into the farmers dance challenge - throwing in some Soul Train. I knew that would be a breeze for them. Loved the look on FT's face when they handed him the fish. I was really suprised at how well Erica ate hers.

Poor Tiffany. If she would have had some help in the earlier challenges, I don't think her arms would have been so worn out by the time they got to this one. She did EVERYTHING that was physical.

I'm still routing for the Globetrotters. They are such a HOOT! Loved them doing the dancing, it was hysterical. YOu just get the feeling that they're enjoying the ride and don't give a crap how ridiculous they look--definitely a positive attitude!

As to Erica--Yeah, she was whiny. But, she didn't quit, she got through it, and I have to give her credit for that. I think she recognizes that she has to stop and think and not just react/whine at everything. The whole not reading the clue thing is a good example.

I felt a little bad for Tiffany and Maria, but Maria is about as useless as Mika was. Seriously, she didn't do any roadblocks, I didn't notice her contributing a whole lot to the overall team. Now, if I were going on AR, which I would never do because I'm a big, fat chicken, I would be working out every single day as I got ready--even if I didn't know that I'd be going, I would assume I was and be running, lifting weights, swimming, etc. to be in the right physical shape to participate. I woudl also be attempting to learn at least a few phrases in several common languages. I would also be looking at maps and trying to learn a little about various cultures==you know, jsut to get a feel for them.

Okay, is it just me, or did Cheyne(sp?) and whatsherface not cheat on the bells task when he helped her ??? And did TAR just not pick up on it or what? Waiting to see what happens next week, but still confused..

I don't think so. Unless the clue specifically says teams can't help each other, it isn't cheating.

Ericka is starting to get on my nerves. First she takes forever to count. Ok, it might have been a harder challenge than it looked, but the way she acted while walking in the wooden shoes was just cringe inducing. Her husband was also in pain but she just yelled at him the whole time about how he can't possibly understand how much her feet hurt. Please. I just don't like winers.

I found her annoying as well, but I understood where she was coming from.

Once when I completed the Disney half marathon--found my family afterwards. After going 13.1 miles in 3 or so hours....

It felt like a slap in the face when my step-mother started stating how tired she was for getting up so early--to simply WATCH!

This while DH and I were up since 3am and it was now 10am by the time we met up with them.

It ranks right up their with folks who complain they are tired or hungry next to a woman in labor.

Now--I didn't see it totally like that with Ericka and her husband. But I really understood her frustration.

I'll have to go back and watch it. I thought both partners Meghan and Cheyne) went up and were both counting and shouting their answers to each other. I thought he even said, I might as well go up with you.

So, all of the partners stayed below?Cheyne never went up the stairs?

That was one of the brothers and they aligned on the way up the stairs.

I wonder how long the penalty would have been if the girls would have just skipped the hammer part of the task and did the rest. Or would that have been automatic elimination?

I don't know if the people would have let them start the task without ringing the bell.

And often--Phil will send you back, so you do not necessarily get a time penalty to avoid the task.

Tiffany got that hammer thing so close to the top on a few of those last attempts. I really felt bad for them on that one.

I agree with you about Erika. She stuck it out and finished the tasks even when they thought they were going to be last. How frustrating could it be to miss counting the bells again and again while the other teams seemed to breeze through it? And where was their help? They helped other teams early on and what did it get them when they needed help? Nada. I was so proud of her when she finally got the number correct. And you know what ... I would be whiny too if I had to sun up and down a bunch of stairs and *then* walk who knows how far in those stupid clogs all because they skimmed the clue. The episode was edited to put her in an unflattering light, but I felt the exact opposite about it ... I though she came out looking like a fighter and not a quitter.

According to the Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amazing_Race_15) Maria did 2 roadblocks and Mika did one. I really wanted to like the Poker Chicks, but Maria just didn't have the physical strength to race with someone else who also was not all that strong. I felt bad for them since you could really tell that they tried their best. They tried ringing that darn bell over 70 times. After swinging the mallet that many times, swimming the brook twice and trying to whack the golf ball dozens of times it's really no wonder that they simply ran out of gas. My question is ... can you skip a roadblock? Or do you have to quit if you can't do it? What would have happened if it were a non-elimination round?

I think you can "cheat" a roadblock--in skipping elements of it or like one season where someone found the NEXT clue box before doing the task prior to get the clue...

In that example--the team had to go back and get the clue they skipped as you have to show up with all your clues.

Skipping a roadblock would be impossible as they wouldn't have the clue (and wouldn't konw where to go as a result.)

I have an inkling that if it was non-elimination, they would just bump it to the next pit stop b/c you have to have all your "stuff" to be checked in.

I remember Rob incited a ton of people to skip a roadblock once, they all got big penalties, but since he was the first to quit, they did fine.

It's possible that they could have just skipped the roadblock after realizing that it was just too much for them. I'm sure that there would be a lengthly time penalty but that would be chance to take just like Rob and Amber did. Or maybe there are rules written in now since the episode Rob and Amber were in to keep them from doing that. We'll never know unless someone tries it.

I think that was an on the spot penalty. that would permit them to get the clue anyway.

Next week they do the needle in a haystack deal--and in a prior year, a team took 8 hours.

I think the penalty for Rob's challenge was 2 hours--but on the spot. And I thought it was mentioned in the clue.

I just watched the Elimination Station. They mentioned that Tiffany and Maria weren't going to be joining them, because they wanted to get back to their lives in Vegas. I didn't know that was an option. It also seemed that the two weren't particularly well-liked by the others.
