THE AMAZING RACE 15, ~Season Premier~ 09/27/09 pg 64!

The fist to the hand thing is seen as a threat, like "I'm gonna get you.". However, I think both sides overdid it. I guess racing for $1,000,000 doesn't bring out the very best in everyone.

And ya know this would have all been avoided if....

THEY OPENED THEIR EYES AND SAW THE CLUE BOX! :rotfl2: Who else could not believe that they stood right next to it and didn't notice it was there :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Absolutely! And it seems to happen at least once every single season! :rolleyes1

Yup! ::yes:: :lmao: If it was a snake, there were times both teams would've been bitten and they had no clue! (no pun intended! ;) )

Luke crossed the line when he elbowed Jen in the face. That was not an accident.

Margie just made matters worst at the mat. She refused to listen to anyone. Phil tried to explain that the girls were not laughing. She had her mind made up and was going to play the victim role no matter what anyone said.

I would expect someone her age to try to defuse the situation, not feed off of it.

I totally agree! I don't care for Luke & Margie. He seems to play dirty. Like some of the other things he has done during the race. Like he said he doesn't have patience. I can't imagine how mad he will be if they get eliminated . I think he is a spoiled sport and the way mom flew off the handle at the mat was not called for. Poor Phil, he tried to calm her down but no luck.

I watched it over and over and my opinion is Jen tried to get around Luke by grabbing at the cluebox. He was pushing her off when she was practially right over him. I think Jen was in the wrong then. It was especially uncalled for to throw out the uncalled for putdown. M&L probably do not hear someone call someone "that name". It might be more common for them as they threw it out pretty easily. I would say something lame like "jerk" ;) That did not start things off well.
The 2nd cluebox they were both running to gold and got tangled in each other.
I have to say the Mother of a disabled client can go straight to defense mode fast! It hurts very badly for your child to made fun of (in your opinion, obviously) but doubly hard when they are handicapped in some manner.
Hope they can all put it behind them.

I thought the same thing!:lmao:

Just wondering if anybody else had this problem....

I was trying to watch Elimination Station earlier today (around noon west coast time) and the stupid thing kept pausing...we're talking pausing about every other second. I finally just got out of it, cuz I couldn't even follow what they were saying.

I'm hoping it'll run more smoothly tomorrow, so I can watch all the video clips.

I also tried the Elimination Station and didn't get very far. I got as far as the brothers calling back to Thailand. I assume that the end of the race is too close for them to go to Thailand and then back to the US. There are two more legs in Beijing and then the final push home. I hope that their feed will be better tomorrow.

That's exactly where I gave up as well!

I had this happen last week with a lot of the video clips, but they weren't quite as bad, so I could work my way through them.

What have you read?

This is from Realitytvworld. They interview the contestants after they have been eliminated.
(I read something else sneaky that they did but I can't think of it right now)

Reality TV World: When did you find out that Margie and Luke were actually the ones that U-Turn'd you?

Kris: We actually didn't find out until after we got to sequester and the following team arrived. They came and told us and we were just shocked. I mean, we had no clue it was going to be them.

Amanda: Yeah, something they actually didn't show on the show was that when we were in Romania [for the Pit Stop] the cast went out to lunch one day and [we] were split up into two tables, and on out walk back to our hotel Margie and Luke were walking with Kris and I, and she came up to us and said "I just wanted to let you guys know that at out table we were talking about the U-Turn, and every single person and team at our table, including us, said we'd never use it, and [Jennifer Hoffman and LaKisha Hoffman] said they would and that you'd be stupid not to."

She went out of her way to tell us that and this was the day before it happened. So immediately when we saw we had been U-Turn'd we automatically assumed it was Jen and Kisha based off of what Margie told us the day before. So when we found out it was Margie and Luke we really just felt deceived.

Like, why did you need to go out of your way to make up a story that was absolutely not true? Jen and Kisha ended up telling us that they never said anything like that at all. So the fact that she basically made up a story, it blew me away, why did you need to do that. And we were stupid for believing her.

Kris: Yeah, definitely a low blow though.

Reality TV World: Amanda, you also said it could be [Christie Volkmer] and [Jodi Wincheski] and called them "untrustworthy." Could you explain that comment a little more?

Amanda: Yeah, that was another thing definitely my biggest regret was believing what I heard because [along] with the Margie thing was the blondes, and what happened with them was... That was in the first leg of the race we were on a train, and I forgot who it was -- I don't wanna say the wrong person -- but some team came up to Jennifer and Preston and Kris and I and said "Just to let you know, we heard that the blondes are trying to not work with anyone and they're trying to work alone. They're untrustworthy, like watch out for them, be careful they're gonna be deceitful.

So from Day 1 we've heard that and we had that in the back of our minds, so at the U-Turn we're thinking "Well the blondes finished before everyone else, they had a very good opportunity to U-Turn someone. It coulda been them." So that's where I was basing that from, I shouldn't have.

Hmmm ... that's interesting about Margie lying to Kris and Amanda. I find it proof postive of their gamesmanship that they tried to affix the blame on J&K before they used the U-Turn themselves. Don't get me wrong! I thought that using the U-Turn was a smart move and got a very competitive team out of the race. I just think it's smarmy to lie to their face the night before and to make them think that someone else will get them instead. It seems to me that maybe the M&L/J&K feud was going on for a lot longer than just two weeks.

Well, I'm not convinced Margie was "lying" really. That was a conversation from the day before. It's very easy to say you'll never do something, but in the heat of the race and when it comes down to you maybe going home or someone else, you may change your tune KWIM?

I do think M&L are doing something right as they are still in the race - not just by dumb luck either. J&K would've been gone the non-elimination week had it not been for the brothers screwing up just a bit worse than them. Well, not gone, but having the extra task, etc.

Right now I do feel that the teams that are in it, deserve to be. I don't necessarily like them all, but they all made it this far so good for them. I hope the tension between M&L and J&K doesn't detract their attention from what they need to do to win.

These are my thoughts as well. It's one thing when you're all having lunch together and being friendly, then another when you're in the thick of the competition. Weird that Margie would make it a point to tell Amanda about the conversation, though.

I'm also not so sure I'd blindly believe J&K telling me they never said you'd be stupid not to U-turn someone, either. That's just one team's word over another at this point. We need unbiased info from the other teams at that table! ;) :rotfl:

Very true. We need another one of the teams to corroborate!

I originally thought that maybe M&L just changed their minds. Maybe after talking about it in private. It *was* a good move after all. Oh, and I also think it's weird that Margie sought out K&A to tell them only J&K said they would use the U-Turn. I still suspect that they made the whole thing up.

I just want to say that I know some Deaf people and took some American Sign Language (ASL) in college, studying signing and the history of Deaf in America. Deaf people have a culture of their own and don't view themselves as disabled or "less" than hearing people. Those born deaf never did hear and don't miss it any more than I miss being able to levitate. To them, this is the way they were born so they don't think it's necessary to read lips or speak. They have their own language (and it's not just signing English -- it has its own nuances and idioms and meets all the linguistic requirements of being a language just as Spanish, French, German or English do). Because they don't have hearing, however, the Deaf express things in ways that the hearing world would consider to be a bit melodramatic. For example, when asking a question, a hearing person may merely raise the inflection at the end of the sentence, "Are you OK?" But since the Deaf don't have inflection, their facial expression indicates the question by raising the eyebrows up very high for a question that has a yes/no answer, or scrunching their eyebrows close together in a quizzical expression for questions requiring more elaborate answers. They make extreme gestures to indicate strong emotions, and often show things by what hearing people would say are exaggerated facial expressions.

Please keep these things in mind when you see Luke. While sometimes he seems to sigh deeply, or roll his eyes, or make very obvious bodily movements or facial expressions, his actions are totally normal for the Deaf community and don't mean that he's overreacting. He's simply expressing himself the way that the Deaf do. Yes, he's gotten frustrated, but none of his actions that I've seen were "out of the norm" for Deaf people. He hasn't exploded the way some of the hearing people have in the past, although we might see him explode in the upcoming episode based on the preview.

Thank you so much for saying this. I tried to express this very same thing many posts back but you do it so much more eloquently.

I just watched TAR last night (dvr). I was upset by all this elbowing and name calling BUT that being said...it was J&K that before any of this even started said in their interview in one of the taxi's in Sunday's show that now that the Race is getting close to finishing, they would not stop at any means to push or shove someone if they needed to.....do any DISer's remember them saying that? :headache:

Then it was within minutes that the first incident happened at the "shampoo" station.

I do not enjoy watching incidents like that at all. It was bothersome. Play the game, people and do not resort to pushing, shoving and name calling. :sad2:

Yup, I'd have to see film of the lunch to know who to believe about who said what. :) Of course, it probably wasn't filmed....

I can't remember ... did M&L use the U-Turn before J&K arrived to it or did J&K pass on it before M&L got to it?
