The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Good morning all!!!!!

Everyone here was stunned to read that article.....it makes it sound like Kyle pitched a terrible game!!!!:headache: He was incredible last night until the last inning and got a little shaky so coach pulled him and he got another standing ovation. There was a scout for the Colorado Rockies sitting near Johnny and he was amazed at "the junk" Kyle was throwing, which is a good thing ladies.:lmao:

Oh well, we're 1 game away and coach told us after the game last night that if he needs Kyle to come in to pull it off tonight, he's going to "call on his horse"!!!!

I did so much screaming last night I can hardly talk today, which is making Johnny a happy man.:rolleyes1

ETA - WFD: A pool-side BBQ with the boys, early afternoon!

WOOHOO!!!!! :cool1: Great Job Kyle!!! Good luck in the next game!

Kathy, The article didn't make him sound bad at all! Coach played him into the 7th & Kyle only gave them half as many hits as they average!

ETA: For those of you waiting, I got my tax rebate today!! Woo-hoo!

I got mine on Wednesday! :woohoo:

I am using it to pay for half of a new stove, but I have to wait for my mother to get her taxes back. Luckily I don't have to wait for her stimulus check because she is in the last group AND she mailed hers. :headache:

I made my fish with some roasted potatoes. I was looking for something to have it with and realized my fingerling potatoes were getting eyes so I made those.

Caili will not trip over her tutu. She is a skater so I think she will take that grace over to her dance.

If she does trip on the tutu, it will be a feat...it sticks straight out at the waist. Does Kady take gymnastics and ballet at the same place?

I hope all of you mom's have a wonderful mother's day! You are some of the best moms that it has ever been my privilege to know. I admire each of you so much! Thanks for being the example to me that you are!

You are a great mom yourself, Glynis. I am always amazed at all the special things you do with your children. Happy Mother's Day!

Dinner tonight was a bit of a mess. My pizza stuck to the peel and half the toppings ended up on the oven floor. I guess it was a good thing I was just cooking for me. Anyway, since I don't have a food photo, here is a Caili photo.

The maple glazed salmon was really tasty - I put sliced pears underneath and used a cedar plank.

I also made crescent rolls and butternut squash risotto (right out of a box) to with it.

I won't be getting my rebate until July =( We owe every year so they don't have our direct deposit info and we have the last possible numbers in our SS... It's going straight to savings but I'm bummed we'll miss 2 months of it earning interest.

Hey y'all.....again we're runner-up. We lost 7-0.:guilty: The young man who pitched against us was unbelievable. He was only a junior and already signed with LSU, he gave up one hit and was the best pitcher I've seen in a very long time.

We are so proud of Kyle and everything he's accomplished and we know there's nothing but great things in store for him.

I'll be back home and back in the swing of things tomorrow.;)

We have a very busy day today. We are going to lunch with my dad and tonight we are going to a cookout at a Sunday School member's house. I missed the first week of signups for things to bring, so I got the joy and pleasure of bring mayo, mustard, and ketchup, lol!

WFD - We are going out for a belated birthday dinner. I am thinking Texas Roadhouse for BBQ.

Kathy & Kyle- Cheers to a wonderful season, you should be extremely proud of how far you all made it!

Ann

Hi All! Wow, what a week this has been.

Kathy- you are so right, Kyle has accomplished so much and he did it keeping ethics in mind. It is a shame that for men's sports in particular, stats are more important than grades and sportsmanship yet your son managed to be the whole package :thumbsup2.

Laura- I would take pictures of the Cuties we have here over food any day, and everyone here knows that lately I eat through all of the pictures posted :lmao:

Glynis- somehow I missed your post, but missing posts has been the norm for me lately :sad2:. I'm sorry. I am glad that you are back, I am in awe that you get so much done. I try but for some reason I am a day late, a dollar short, and a little confused to boot :confused3

Tonight we are joining my sister and BIL at Dakota Steak House and then off to see Jesus Christ Superstar. I saw it on Broadway and enjoyed it. Well I would have enjoyed it more but the family next to me brought a five YO to see it with them and this little one got very scared during parts of it. It was hard not to think of this little girl crying and watch the show :sad1:

I hope Buddy likes it, I am not sure Gail will either, but I am looking forward to it.

I know that this is a busy weekend for most so let me wish all of the wonderful ladies here a Joyous Mother's Day. I am hoping that those of you who have lost some of the special women on your lives can celebrate all that they gave to make us the women we are today. In the time I have gotten to know all of you I know that these women have been very successful in bestowing wisdom, compassion and strength because I am always lifted by you.

Happy Mother's Day!

Good morning! I'm taking a break from spring cleaning. I woke with a rotten headache that I'm determined not to get in my way today. We will see who wins.

Kathy Congratulations to Kyle for going this far. I hope he isn't disappointed. It is a great achievment. I agree I didn't think that article made him sound bad.

You all make me feel so tired listening to you run around with your daughters and granddaughters to dance classes. I'm glad I had a boy. They have less stuff.

Ok while my head is somewhat at bay I'm going to tackle the stuff that requires bending. I be back later.

Good Morning Y'all,

My cheapo haircolor at the school, really cost me in time, a headache & neck pain yesterday. I was there for 4 hours. New student, she was nice too, but so slow! Dinner last night was leftover pork mole.

Dinner tonight was a bit of a mess. My pizza stuck to the peel and half the toppings ended up on the oven floor. I guess it was a good thing I was just cooking for me. Anyway, since I don't have a food photo, here is a Caili photo.

Laura, Sorry about the pizza! I know how that feels, remember that awful ugly alien looking thing I had posted!

But that child, is a thing of beauty!! That is such a gorgeous picture!!!

We are all so proud of him! :thumbsup2 You & Johnny have done such a great job with him. And I'm sure his coaches have also helped to mold him, into the terrific young man he is today!

I hope you took a moment to cherish this special weekend with your young man!

Here's a simple food porn pic for y'all! It was just so pretty!

Nancy & Laura, About Alexis & the dancing.

We are really going to have to try to get some more info on our local dancing schools. The strange thing is we practically have a dancing school on every corner. Unfortunately they teach very little that is worth while & rake parents over the coals in cost for the annual revue. (like the amount of ads you sell for the program, determines your seat at the revue.) It's pretty ridiculous & I was hoping to avoid all that. But it really seems that she leans towards music, dance, & drama. So I'm going to have to get busy checking into it.

Sheryl- how are you feeling? I know that you went to the DR and was wondering how you made out.

Kathy -- Congratulations to the team for a great season. I am sure you would have liked a better ending, but Kyle and the team should be proud that they made it as far as they did. It is a big achievement.

We are really going to have to try to get some more info on our local dancing schools.

I'm sure you must have places that teach classical ballet, if that is what you are looking for. When you are researching, make sure you ask about the recital...one of the other skating parents spent more than $300 on recital costumes last year!

Your tomato salad picture was pretty. I love the plate.

Liam has a baseball game this afternoon, so my parents are coming here to eat beforehand. My mom has to work tomorrow, so today is her Mother's Day dinner. Despite that, she is making all the food. We are having fried chicken, cornbread, tomato salad, and eggplant sticks.

Today is also my turn to work the concession stand. :headache:

Boy, activities for little girls get pricy quick! My daughter did gymnastics for while. The leotard for the end of the year show was pretty expensive, and of course little kids grow so fast, it never fit when the next years schedule started. And you had to buy tickets to see the show, I don't mind spending money on my daughter, but I paid a lot for the lessons, let us see the show! As soon as she turned 5 or so it got competitive really fast, and that kind of took the fun out out it.
Now she want's to take horseback riding lessons, which I know she would really love for years to come, so I think that might be a birthday present. (First I need to get over the fact that my "baby" will be 8 this summer.)
I think this is supposed to be about dinner though, so on Thursday we had burritos, last night we had roast chicken legs, couscous, and green beans, and tonight we are having ribs, broccoli, and cornbread or biscuits.
Tommorow I think I might make a copycat recipe of an Olive Garden sausage and kale soup, but IF the sun ever comes out we will have something different.
Happy Mother's day to everyone!

I'm not sure if I'll get on here in the morning, as Liam is playing golf with my dad, but I wanted to wish all the mothers on here a very HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Boy, activities for little girls get pricy quick!

Yes, they do. I think my son's activities for the year cost less than my daughter's for a month. You're getting yourself into another expensive activity with the horseback riding! That is something I am not even willing to consider. It's hard to refuse that cute face -- thanks to everyone for the compliments on the photo! -- but I would have to say no to the horseback riding. We do need to eat and have a place to live.

We are going to my mom's house tomorrow afterall. She does have to work, but she'll be back in time for dinner. My brother is cooking... ...so I know that means we'll be having lots of meat. I don't know what else is on the menu.

Hey All!

I have been MIA all day, sorry. We have the masons here working on the fireplace and we needed to get a mantle shelf by Monday. No place has them here since its a seasonal item so we wound up buying wood to make one and then A had a game. They won and he had some nice hits and plays...:cool1:

Kat, You know how proud I am of Kyle...he has so much great stuff to look forward to. :thumbsup2

Laura, What a gorgeous picture of Caili! She's looks like a precious doll. :cutie:

We went out after the game to a local rib place that we have not been to in a while...I have no idea why since they have the best ribs, chicken, mac and cheese and Mai Mai Mai Tais! Ruscle the Muscle was at the bar and boy were the drinks as good as ever!!! I guess they missed us...they gave us 20% off the bill which is always great.

We are grabbing breakfast tomorrow and the boys are taking me a few places that I have been wanting to go. Then I have no idea what we are doing...whatever it is, I will not be cooking.

I want to wish all of my friends here a very Happy Mother's Day! Relax and Enjoy! Love to All!

Ross, Have a very Happy Birthday!!!

Today was busy - we finally made it to the art museum where my uncle was being featured in an exhibit. Happened to catch a docent tour by two guys that were friends of his so we went back to the 'staff only' part and talked about him. He's still alive, but lives in NYC. I need to call him tomorrow and tell him...

My dad and brother drove over to see it and came back to our place to help us hang a chandelier - it's gorgeous.

I grilled burgers and made the ranch potato salad - I think it's Glynis', right? Very tasty!

Had a busy day of shopping today. Went out to eat at a place called Cosi, it's new around here, not sure where else they may be. They have sandwiches on flatbread, flatbread pizza's and salads. I got a Buffalo Chicken sandwich which was pretty good.

One thing they have that we really want to try next time is S'Mores. You get a little "grill" thing that you heat the marshmallows on and you make them right at your table. Looked cool but we really didn't have the time.
