Thanks to all the friendly welcomes! Glad to see Lindsey!!!

WFD-Wed is our Mo's Pizza night. Sheryl and Kathy can tell you how great their pizza is. We get a large(which is 2x the size of regular larges) half pep and black olives(or tires as Kurt jr calls them) and half artichioke heart tomatoes and mushrooms. We also get a half order of spaghetti whcich my boys will split.

Wed is pizza night because I have cake decorating class on thurs and this helps me bake and get my flowers done for class, and the boys eat leftovers tomorrow.

Lindsay, Welcome Home!:goodvibes

Olive oil is good for you, my Dietitian said so! :thumbsup2

Met with her today, she is happy with my progress but wants me to exercise more. :yay: Then I went out to lunch with my boss and two coworkers and had Italian food. :cloud9: I was very good and got a salad and Chicken Marsala. It came with spaghetti and I only ate half of that. I did have Focacia bread with olive oil but stopped after two pieces. I could eat a LOT of that, it is the best I have ever had.

Glad your dietitian was happy with your progress!!! :thumbsup2 I'd be in big trouble if I had someone monitoring my food & alcohol intake, lately, big trouble!

Stephanie, I have no clue WFDT & you go and bring up MO's!!! ;) Okay I'm hungry now!

Everyone, Are y'all trying to tell me that the whole purpose of the DIS is not avoidance of housework???:confused3

Has anyone tried whole wheat pasta? In anticipation of our vacation I'm trying to lose a few lbs and having a really hard time staying away from pastas. I have some Italian Sausages I need to use and my boys are requesting spaghetti. Sounds like a winner to me, but I'm wondering how the whole wheat pasta would be compared to our regular stuff?

To me it's a little more chewy than regular spaghetti.

I've tried a couple, some were good, some were bad. I have been buying Barilla Plus pastas, it is a multigrain pasta. When I've served it to unknowing eaters, they didn't even notice a difference. I know it's higher in fiber, don't know if it's lower in calories or not, I don't have any "regular" pasta in the house to compare it too.

We like it. It does fill you up more than reg pasta I cook it a little longer. My son doesn't know the difference. I use the Barilla also there's another one but I can't remember the name that was good.

Janice is right, it takes longer to cook. The box says 10 minutes, but I think it actually takes longer than that.

So I fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally get to say what I wanted to today, but couldn't:

Congrats, Glynis and Alan!!!!!!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks.

I'm so happy that you are back! I kept my fingers crossed and prayed that you would be able to return! This place just isn't the same without you!

Nice!

What cake decorating class do you take? My sister took the Wilton series of classes, and really found her passion. It is incredible what she can do! She's become so well known that she makes a wedding cake a week! Lots of baking. My favorite is her white chocolate cake with raspberry filling. Of course her carrot cake is nothing to sneeze at, either.

We LOVE whole wheat pasta!!! It's all I use. It really gives a nuttier flavor to your pasta dishes. It cooks up exactly the same. My kids actually like it better than regular pasta. It really picks up the flavor of the sauce better.

We love it. Its all we eat now. Even the kids don't mind. They have never commented on flavor or texture and we are a family that eats alot of pasta.

I've never tried the whole wheat pastas although I know I should. So I can't be of any help at all.

Aimee, dinner got a mixed review. The kids and Kenny really liked it, and I thought it could have been better. The sauce was a little too thick for my tastes and I didn't have any more milk to thin it with. So my suggestion is if you give it a try, have extra milk on hand in case you need to thin the sauce. (The measurements below are the amounts I used tonight).

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup chicken broth
1 cup grated Asiago cheese

Melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until blended. Add in both milks and chicken broth and stir. Heat until sauce thickens, stirring often. After the sauce thickens, remove from heat and add the cheese, stirring until melted. Salt and pepper to taste.

I sauteed chicken breasts in some olive oil with chopped onion and minced garlic, salt, pepper, basil and parsley. I added this to the sauce and served over penne pasta.

:yay: Hi Everyone....boy are you all chatty today!!!!!

Shovan....love the new addition to your family. And I agree you have a beautiful home!

Lindsay...Welcome home!!!!
