awesome video! I haven't been able to find anything on the ded. 2 be either, so it was a great help!

I just love that everyoe is getting ready and unpacking and then there's two random kids in the jacuzzi. SO CUTE!!

I thought that was so cute too!

Yeah, thanks for the video. It makes me want to buy DVC Kidani!

Surfergirl, love your avatar!

The boys walked in, saw that tub and had to get in:yay:. My kids could have spent all of the vacation in that tub!

I'm about to call and pay for the remainder of our trip. Only 47 days to go:woohoo: We booked a standard, but I'm going to see if I can pay the difference and upgrade to a pool view. My boys still don't know where we're staying. They'll be so excited when we get there.

I've seen the map of Kidani, but it does not specify which buildings/wings/areas are which. (Pumbaa, Timon, etc.) DOes anyone have this information?

Today I called and made our room requests and added on a few extra nights, just in case we have to change our flight plans. So excited!

I just asked my kids (because I can't remember) and they said we were near the Pumbaa elevator. I thought we had a picture of the door with a room number, but I can't find it. I'll keep looking...

Take a look at the AKL map: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/aklmap.htm

The value DVC villas are in Ostrich trail and Giraffe trail and they can have a parking lot, savanna or pool view, all on the top floor (that's two floors up from the lobby). I think even the furthest room on those trails is still rather close to the lobby. Since your room needs are medical, I would advise to get in touch with Disney before you arrive to put in a request for a quite room close to the lobby. Since you are leaving in two days, it would be best to contact AKL directly.

There is also a specific phone number for contacting resorts if you have medical needs according to this post on the DISabilities FAQ: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=10889442&postcount=7

Thanks for the link and good advice.
I emailed DVC membership my request a while back and had forgotten i'd done that and about 30days ago, i called them again about something else and they confirmed they had put in my request

BUT
since then i checked -in online BUT DIDN'T TICK the special request box 'near transportation' or 'ground floor' as i thought that may confuse matters further so i hope i haven't messed up my booking now!!

That's good. If you check requests during check-in it overrides prior requests.

I HIGHLY recommend paying the small difference for a pool view. :)
I believe it is about $10 per night and the location is fabulous. We found it very close to everything. We booked our Aug trip a few weeks ago and went with a pool view room again! :goodvibes:goodvibes

I wanted to check in to see what everyone request nowadays for Savannah view rooms. Is Arushua Savannah still the one with the most animals on it, or has that changed because of the DVC and addition of Kidani? Also, what's the best floor to get the best view of the animals? TIA!

The difference between a standard and a pool view ended up being $47! Couldn't pass up the opportunity to upgrade. Even my stingy husband couldn't disagree:rotfl:

Just booked a pool view for the end of April, any suggestions for requests or are they all about the same. I do see from the map that they seem to be very convenient to everything. Should I request one trail over the other?
Thanks.:goodvibes

I prefer Zebra trail because when you walk to your room you come across some windows which open out towards the Arusha savanna. But Giraffe trail has a "secret" exit towards the walkway to the busses. So both have their advantages! :goodvibes

We're renting DVC points for a trip in late Nov/early Dec and have booked a Savannah view studio - I assume we'll be in either the Ostrich trail or Giraffe trail, right?

I was just researching on allears, and it says that CL rooms are either pool view or Savannah view....I could have sworn that I read somewhere that if you book a CL room, that you automatically get a Savannah view? Can anyone please confirm? Thanks in advance :goodvibes

I was concerned about that too when I read it. I called Disney and all CL rooms are now Savannah views.

I know what you mean!! We leave in 2 days
yippee:banana:

1 question. There are only 3 of us :dance3:so we booked a 'value' at AK Villas (DVC members).

I haven't a clue what to expect or where they are situated. I need something 'quietish' near the lifts/lobby as mum has knee trouble and my son has autism and doesn't sleep too well with a lot of noise.

Any ideas on best located values to stay? Are they smaller than other rooms do some have 'views' and which floors are they located on?
As long as i dont have something overlooking the bus or transport routes i should be ok!

Many Thanks

lam:thumbsup2

I haven't stayed at the value yet but we are DVC members and stayed in a standard studio at Kidani last year. We ended up having a view of the main lobby enterance and the buses. It was kind of stinky, but we were able to look out on the animals from the animal viewing areas near the lobby and the plus was that when our family came to meet us (staying at value resorts, not members) we could watch for them and saw them getting off the bus.
:goodvibes. Regardless the resort is beautiful so you have to look at the positive side of things.

Also, I did consider booking the 1BR value this year so that we could get a 1 BR. From what I read it is a little smaller and you do not have the extra pull out chair, only the pull out couch.

OK, there is a bit of confusion over the CL rooms. It depends upon whether you have a "regular hotel CL room" or a DVC CL room. The "regular hotel CL rooms" are all savannah view. However if you have a DVC CL room either via DVC or CRO, then the room can be either Pool view or Savannah view.

YAY just discovered this thread. before reading 171 pg's of post thought I'd just ask this. Will be staying at Jambo House in Sept. :cool1: I was wondering about the lunch menu @ the pool bar. can anyone give me a link to the menu or is it just ordered off from the room service menu?:beach:

Hi Thumper! Right here on the dis there's a list of all the restaurants and I got the link: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=291

They only list drinks though :sad2: Hopefully someone else who has been can confirm what kind of food is served :)

As far as I know, Jambo House ppol bar does not offer any food, but The Mara, the CS restaurant, is just next to the pool.
