I don't know many 6'5" guys who can eat at WDW for only $40 per day... much less two people! You can get two of the cheaper CS combos for maybe $10 per person, so if you only eat two CS combos per day you could do the $40...

For the price there is absolutely no comparison. :thumbsup2

We really don't eat that much and I've looked at our last few trips and we only spend about $50-$60 per day on food (maybe slightly more.) However, I like your reasoning and I'm going to use it as fuel for why we should stay at AKL :thumbsup2

AKL is now our favorite resort:love:

We stayed in a DVC- Value Studio and it was great. We had a pool view and woke up to this every morning:

Nice view, staying in a value 1bdrm this November have fingers crossed we get either the pool or savanah view.

Great view. We just got back as well. We were on the 4th floor opposite side..Zebra Trail. Looks like you may have had a small view of the savannah from your room. Did you??

JLCD...we did have a small view of the savanha. But we only saw one animal on our first day and they never did come back this way (or at least not when we were in the room)

We tried the Night Vision Goggles one night too, but all the animals were out of view.

My only regret about staying here is we didn't get to spend much time at the resort. But I might be changing that soon. We were suppose to go to Universal in July, but poor DS4 can't handle one more park this year. :rotfl:Since our flight is already paid for we might come back here for the week and do other things we normally wouldn't do and relax by the pool:goodvibes

We were on the 4th floor zebra trail, but over the rooftops of Boma! Just got home last night....weather was perfect. Our room was very clean, beds were comfy. Boma was delicious as always. Just wanted to report back that they do have jugs of gallon sized water in the Zawandi gift shop. We used it to make our coffee in the am instead of using the yucky water from the faucet. Also filled up a bottle of it to keep cold in the fridge. Only $2.59 too not bad. Kids loved the pool no matter what color it was:lmao: Bus transportation was great!

We stayed at Pop our first trip onsite and loved it. Then we stayed at AKL our 2nd trip onsite. We'll never go back to Pop! We are too spoiled now :lmao: That is such a small price difference in the scheme of Disney so if you can easily afford it go for it!!

Just wanted to share that we ended up booking AKL Savanna View for this summer today. I am so :banana::banana: to try somewhere new. Thanks for the encouragement and the help :) :)

ETA: We just got our confirmation email and it says Savanna View (QC)
What does the QC stand for? (no dining plan, room only reservation - I'm guessing Q is Queen beds, but what is the C?)

You are going to have a blast!!! No idea what the QC stands for. Did you book with a code?

We did book with the 20/30/40 code :confused3 No idea what that means. I guess we'll see :) :)

ETA: I just saw on your ticker that you leave in 6 days!!! Have SO MUCH fun and take lots of notes and pictures for us :)

I'm thinking its because of your discount, but I could be wrong. We have some letters next to ours which I was told was because of our discount.

Yes we drive down on Saturday and check into AKL CL on Sunday morning. I'm going to start a live trip report so I'll post the link in this thread in a few days!

My wife and I are AKL CL repeat offenders too!
Have a great/safe trip! :)

We had a pool view at AKL & loved it! That pic makes me want to get back there now!!! Sadly, I have to wait 3 yrs :( As much as we liked the pool view, we would like to get a savannah room next time.

We've booked a savanna view room for July and I'm trying to decide which (if any) requests we should make. Here are some of the things we're interested in.

I'm a creature of convenience, so my fear is that we'll get stuck all the way out on the far end of Kudu Trail and be far from the busses. We'd like to be centrally located to the busses, lobby, and Mara (I know the busses are down the hill and won't be 'close,' but closer than the far end of Kudu would be nice ;) )

We also love giraffes (maybe it's because we're tall :lmao:) From the pictures I've seen it looks like Sunset & Arusha both have them. Is that accurate?

We also would like to be on an upper floor.

We don't ask for much, do we? :lmao:

Any suggestions for a request that would satisfy all of these (or most) items?

Thanks!! We're so excited!!

We were originally going to book a pool view because I was trying to save a little money (my husband is a 'penny pincher,') but when we called, standard & savanna were the only things available. My 'frugal' husband shocked me when he said, "well, if we're going to stay at the ANIMAL Kingdom Lodge, wouldn't it make sense to be able to see the ANIMALS?" :rotfl:

I was just curious....I hear that the further away from the lobby you go, the better your savannah view is, but that it can be quite a far walk. If you end up in the very end of the trail, furthest from the lobby, how far are we talking to walk to the lobby? the busses? When we stayed at the WL, we had the second to last room at the very end towards the water, and it took us at least 10 mins to get to the boats to the MK, but I didn't find it a bad walk. Lots to see as you walk by. I'm wondering if the AKL rooms are further, or about the same? Can you see animals as you are walking by?

well i made a new thread for this but i think i should have posted it here

i'm surprising my gf with a trip to disney next week (i'm so excited..i mean..its all for her)

im trying to decide between AKL and kidani village. the room choices would be.. a regular room in AKL, a deluxe studio in kidani, or a 1 bedroom villa in kidani. all have a savanna view

we have never stayed in AK before, but have been to disney together a few times.

any help would be awesome! i'm trying to get this booked today

Very cool! Were you telling your Dh the truth about no pool views so you could get the savannah view???? Just kidding! :rotfl:

Our room was fairly close to the lobby which we liked. It didn't take much time at all to get to/from room. The rooms at the end seemed pretty far. I think it most would bother you when coming back after a long day & have to walk all the way to the end.
Maybe someone else who have stayed at the end could say specifically how long the walk is.
