Do the bunk beds automatically come w/side railings or do I need to ask for them?

for the beautiful picture of the pool view room! Looking out, was the Mara to your left or right?

The top bunk has bed rails built in, but the bottom do not. The bottom bunk was very close to the ground though! We had them in May and the boys loved not having to share a bed!

Your welcome - The Mara was about 50 yards to the right ... we were pretty much at the end of the Zebra Trail building ...

Top has side rails but the bottom doesn't. You can ask mousekeeping for a side rail for the bottom bunk if you want one though.

Hi,
I'm sorry if this has been addressed, but 140+ pgs. is a lot to navigate! :scared1:
We have bought pts. from a DVC member for Dec. 14-Dec. 19 and have a reservation for a Studio Savanah rm. at Kidani! From everybodies expert advice and experience, what would be considered the "Best" rooms in regards to Savanah views and location to elevators and lobby?
Thanks for any advice!
Michael

Hi,

I have to admit to not being able to read through all 140 pages too!

I am staying 12 nights at AKV Jambo in a savanna studio this christmas and we will have our 2 yr old who loves giraffes and zebras. We will be spending a large amount of our evenings on the balcony so would like to put a room request in but have no idea for where!

We've stayed at BWV and found that it took ages to get from reception to our room so would love to avoid that again but would love a decent view of a savanna with giraffes and zebras!!

I know nothing about AKL and would like someone to tell me what general area to request.

Can someone also confirm that our studio will be 1 queen and a sleeper sofa as opposed to two queen beds? The link on pg1 isn't working. Lastly is there a toaster in the studios?

Many thanks,

Christie

Also guilty of not reading 140 pages!

Are there any bunk bed CL rooms, or are all the CL rooms with two queens? No daybeds anymore, right? My kids don't want to sleep together, but AKL Club Level sounds really nice!

Thank you!

We had a bunk bed CL room in July. There are not many and they can not be guaranteed, but that was the only request we made on our reservation.

We booked a standard view AKL room for next June. Should we keep it or upgrade to a better view room? Since we are planning a lot of time in the parks, do you think I might be able to change/upgrade our room during our stay(if available)? Please help:)

I think the only issue you could run into upgrading when you arrive is that you would lose any discount that applied to your initial reservation (I think). For example, if you had a code that was good for reservations made from Oct. 1 through Nov. 30 (just throwing out dates as an example), and you tried to upgrade at the resort in June, you'd probably lose your discount code because the Oct-Nov time period has elapsed. Otherwise, I don't see why you couldn't upgrade as long as there is another room available.

Thank you so much for your response. Right now we are booked with AAA discount. Sure hope that some kind of discount code will appear as our vacation dates draw closer.

I can help a bit. The last I knew, giraffes are located on every savannah. Zebras are on Sunset and Arusha Savannahs. In general, the rooms closest to the lobby offer the worst views of the animals. Perhaps just ask for a good view of zebras and giraffes.:confused3

Your studio will have a queen and sleeper sofa. There is a toaster in every villa including studios. Have fun!

Many people recommend asking for Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail. For viewing animals and proximity to the elevator to the restaurants, my favorite was Zebra Trail, Uzima Savannah on the spur by the secondary elevator.
Happy planning!

I honestly never thought about asking for a good view of the giraffes and zebras! I'll phone and do this!

Thanks for the info on the room too!
