I'm heading down in a few days.... staying at SSR on DP's but do have an ADR at AKL (can't seem to go to Disney and not stop in...) I will run down to Mara and see if they have lemonaide Light for you there... and since I will be there anyway...:rolleyes1 pick up some zebra domes to take back to my room with me.

If you could take a look, I'ld really appreciate it! :thumbsup2

And you can't help it. With AKV as your home-resort, you just HAVE to get yourself some ZD's. It's part of the contract you signed. ;):rotfl:

I do recall reading that.... So that is like the LAW!

I have seen the pictures on allears, but since for pool view and savanna view the bunk beds are a seperate category which does cost more money (not a request), I think there are no standard view rooms with bunk beds. I have a distant memory (which may be wrong) that there used to be standard rooms with bunk beds, but that this was rearranged at some point...

Good point Flossbolna. I was going by info/photos on allears but some of that stuff gets outdated... since it's a bookable category now, maybe there aren't :confused3 Because why would there not be a "Standard View, Bunkbed room" category?? disneymagicgirl I'm sorry if I told you wrong :guilty:

Does anyone know if Zebra Domes are appropriate for children? :confused3 I thought they had alcohol in them, but last time we were at Boma, DS8 scarfed down like 3 of them before I knew it! Should I keep a better eye out on our upcoming trip, or am I over-thinking this?

I think all the Deluxe resorts now have the h2O products?? I just looked back at my AKL pics from last summer and there are some H2O products on the sink but we were staying club level that time and sometimes club level has upgraded products... hopefully someone else can answer for sure.
Congrats on your birthday trip :bday:

thank you so much! i'm really looking forward to it!

We had exactly the same products at the poly this January as the ones we got the year before at AKL. Both times, light blue bottles with shower gel, shampoo and seperate conditioner. Unfortunately the shampoo and conditioner do not work at all on my hair!! :sad2:

awesome! so glad to hear it! i used them at the poly and they were absolutely fine for me, so i'm glad i wont have to pack these things! thanks!

no problem! i called today to try to add it and the cm said it isn't possible.:sad2:
i just wish someone would cancel a pool or savannah view!:rolleyes1

We have booked a standard room for May. I have read that there are some standard rooms that are better then others. Can anyone tell me which ones these are so I can request them. Thanks.

I believe that there is alcohol in them (along with the Mousse at Bomas at least sometime). However, I don't know how much alcohol there is in there. Now at the risk of getting flamed -- putting on flame suit -- was he feeling fine after he ate them? If so, then I would let him have 1 or 2.

I asked a disney agent on the online booking and they said that there are standard rooms with bunk beds - it is a request. There is no extra charge (there is for other views, which is odd).

I was going to ask for a standard room and request bunks, but I heard the rooms are smaller, so I'm just sticking with standard and hoping to get the best room possible!!

The Mara sells 6-packs of Zebra Domes (price is about $3.95). They sell 2 types: the regular ones and ones that are marked as containing no alcohol. ;)

Do you know if the zebra domes they serve at Boma have alcohol in them?

Actually, I noticed no change in behavior or even energy, :confused3 so I am surprised to know they contain alcohol. I am also annoyed I didn't try one myself.:sad2: Guess I'll have to make up for it on this next trip.;)

Thanks!

:worship: Thanks, even better...I'll just grab the kiddie and adult versions while I'm there. :thumbsup2

Thank you! I'm glad I read this thread. I wouldn't have thought twice about letting ds try a zebra dome at Boma!

I honestly don't think you need to worry about the alcohol content. There is not that much in there. I stand corrected too; it is Kahlua not Amarula liqueur. Here is the recipe as found on Deb Wills' site, AllEarsNet.com:

ZEBRA DOMES

Yield: 16 servings

Ingredients:

1 pound milk chocolate
¼ cup espresso coffee
5 egg yolks
¼ cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
6 sheets gelatin
½ cup Kahlua Liqueur
4 cups heavy cream
¾ cup white chocolate ganache
¼ cup dark chocolate ganache
sponge cake (store-bought or your favorite recipe)

Method:

1. Melt milk chocolate.
2. Whip heavy cream to soft peaks.
3. Mix yolks with sugar.
4. Soften gelatin leaves in cold water.
5. Mix gelatin with Kahlua and coffee. Set bowl over hot water bath to dissolve the gelatin.
6. Fold 1/3 of whipped cream into the chocolate.
7. Add the yolks, then the gelatin mixture.
8. Fold in the rest of the cream.
9. Pour mousse in flexipan domes almost to the top.
10. Place sponge circle (1/4" thick yellow cake cut in a circle) on top. Leave in the freezer to set.
11. Once hard, unmold and place in glazing racks.
12. Make white chocolate ganache and chocolate ganache.
13. Put chocolate ganache in a pastry bag. Ladle white chocolate ganache to cover each dome. Simultaneously, pipe a stripe design of chocolate ganache over the dome.
14. Refrigerate to allow the glaze to set.
15. Decorate the bottom edge with coffee crunch.
16. Place a chocolate covered coffee bean on the center of each dome.

Note: One sheet of gelatin is equal to one teaspoon of unflavored powdered gelatin dissolved in ¼ cup of water.

I was thinking that, unless you have a reason not to have any alcohol (like a religious one or an allergy), the alcohol used in cooking desserts is tiny and shouldn't be a problem. Now, if someone scarfs down 10-20 of these, that's maybe something different. But I don't have a problem letting my DD have one or two (limited more because of the sugar than the alcohol:rotfl:)

Plus, when cooked, the alcohol dissipates. My son took cooking for 4 years and always cooked with it. They were told that the alcohol itself burned off leaving just the flavor behind~Can you imagine a bunch of high school kids staggering out of cooking classes because of something they made :rotfl:
