This may be covered somewhere but I cannot find the info! Can someone tell me how comfortable the pull out sofas are in the studios? We have a value booked this December and planned for our 2 and 4 year olds to share the pullout. Is this a good choice or should we switch to two queens?

Our two older kids LOVED the pullouts...and they were 5 and 3 when we went. I laid on them here and there. They were pretty comfortable, IMHO. I don't think I could "do" the pull out chair.....it's too "short" for me, but I'm 6 ft 3. I could easily sleep on the sofa, though.

Can someone tell me which savanna the DVC concierge rooms over look? Which animals are on that savanna? Do you see the construction? Thanks! Penny

3 of the 2BR lockoffs overlook the sunset savanna...where the construction is going on. I'm not sure of the exact make up of the animal population. I know there's ankola cattle, I think there's some giraffes....and I'm pretty sure there are some Tommy's.

2 of the 2BR lockoffs overlook the pool.

View is never a guarentee with DVC concierge, but you can always make a request.

pilferk is correct. From my savanna view CL studio, I saw ankola cattle, ostriches, giraffes (they were hard to see from the room). I also think that there are zebra and maybe some birds on that savanna.

Can you walk to Animal Kingdom park from the lodge instead of taking a car or the resort bus?

It looks so close on the map but I don't know if there are walkways.

Hi. WE are going on our first WDW vacation this year and staying at the WL. We are looking at other deluxes to try next year. The AK looks pretty amazing & unique. Most of the questions I had (transportation/meals, etc) were answered by reading the posts here. But then I came across posts of construction to the resort. Does anyone know when the construction is suppose to be completed?

Also - I saw mention of the Sunrise Safari and went to all ears to read more about it. Does anyone know if the cost of the Tusker House breakfast is included in the cost of the safari? Or is it additional? We are doing the dining plan this year - didn't know if we would need a credit for it next year if we do the safari, or if that covered the meal.

Thanks.

Deb

This is what the AKL IPO office told me when I called them:

Sunrise Safari -- the breakfast has been moved to Pizzafari, but it is still a big buffet breakfast. It is included in the $55 cost of the safari, so it shouldn't take up any of your dining credits. Oh, and you have to be staying club level at AKL to sign up for the Sunrise Safari.

Sorry, I didn't ask about the construction dates, but I am sure someone on this board will be able to answer you on that.:)

Thank you. I did see on the first post that the sunrise safari was for club level guests. Not sure about Pizzafari though - I liked the Tusker House idea due to Donald, et al.

Thank you for your help on the breakfast information!!

When we were there a few years ago all of the decorations were up by the Sat. before Thanksgiving. We were so excited that we got to see them!

Completion of DVC is supposed to occur sometime in Spring of 2009 (April, I believe is the month officially given). However, my understanding is that Disney hasn't released these DVC units yet for booking.

DVC has said that booking will begin on Aug 10th for stays after May 1st. So, I would guess that they are planning to be finished most construction around the end of April and final touches through May.

The Sunrise Safari has never had a character breakfast. It was held at Tusker House when Tusker House was a counter service location. Now, that Tusker House is a table service character buffet they've moved the Sunrise Safari breakfast to an available location.

Having done the SS breakfast at both locations, I would just like to add: although the atmosphere of the school room used for the breakfast in Tusker House was wonderful, the Pizzafari breakfast is in a much larger room and is way more comfortable! :goodvibes (same food, same great CMs! :thumbsup2)

Thanks - having never been to WDW before all I'm going on is tourbooks - and didn't realize Tusker House was once a non-character meal.

Not meaning to ask anymore stupid questions - but I do have one that may qualify. I read that cabs are available at most resorts for getting around between resorts. Does that hold true at AK as well?

I hope you have a wonderful first stay at WDW! :cool1: I still remember how confused I was by all the planning for my first trip. But this is what the DIS is for: help others out with useful information.

Therefore: there aren't any stupid questions here. :goodvibes And to answer your question about cabs: when you exit the lobby of AKl there are bell service/valet service people around who will get you a cab. I think at most hotels (especially deluxe) there are always some cabs waiting and they will be told to drive up when someone wants to get a cab. We used a cab twice to go from the Contemporary (after dinner) back to AKL and it was no problem at all. Also, you could call bell services (I think?) from your room before you go down.

Thank you. I wanted to make sure if we planned meals at other resorts there was an easier way to get there than going to a theme park and then going from there. Knowing the taxis are there helps a lot! Thank you so much.
