Hi all,

I see that AKL is sold out for November and December 2008 - is some big event going on then that I'm not aware of? I thought that the Pop Warner crowd wrapped up things on Nov. 30...

We were able to book in Aug. for Dec. last year with no trouble so I'm a bit disappointed.

Any advice for finding a room opening in the 2nd week of Dec?

Cheers

Venus

I'm Able To Get Availability From The 14th Of Dec For 14 Days Going Through Expedia U.K:)

Very interesting, I just checked Expedia's US site and it has no availability in December and most of January.

Hi AKL gurus!:hippie: I'm thinking about trying a split stay next year with Pop/AKL concierge level so I have a few questions. We've never stayed at AKL but love visiting it to have dinner and look around so I know we will love staying there. I'll probably book a room only for four nights in May. My biggest question is do I need to book immediately when the rates come out(most likely next week) or do I have a little time? I wasn't sure if the CL rooms sold out fairly quickly or not.:confused3 We won't be going during a holiday or anything so I'm hoping I have some time. I really want the CL so we can do the Sunrise Safari. Also, another question that will make me sound like a greedy lush:lmao: . Do they have beer and wine in the lounge all day or just evening hours? And can you take a glass/bottle back to your room to enjoy on the balcony? Thanks to any that can answer these for me.:thumbsup2

For all room types? Or JUST for savanna view rooms?

I know with the ongoing construction, and the upcoming animal acclimation on sunset savanna, that they've reclassified a whole slew of hotel rooms (wish they'd do the same with the DVC equivalent rooms) that are NORMALLY savanna view rooms as "standard view" for the duration of the exterior Kidani construction AND animal acclimation.

So that might be it....but that would only effect savanna view rooms, not the rest of the inventory.

I HAVE noticed, though, that the "holiday" period (late November through Early January) this year seems to be (and we're talking just anecdotally from seeing posts on the boards and talking to people) unusually busy....even beyond the X-mas/New Years week. Maybe I've just not noticed it over the years, before, and am taking notice now because we're travelling in early December. I don't know.

It seems to be that Disney sometimes does not show availability at certain resorts or for certain room types because they try to push other resorts/rooms. I would recommend to go through a specialised Disney travel agent like Dreams Unlimited. They might be able to help you find a room at AKL!

Anyone have a recent pic of Pool at Animal Kingdom?

Very familiar with pool at SAB and BWI, but quite curious about AK pool...

A friend said it was beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

This may be covered somewhere but I cannot find the info! Can someone tell me how comfortable the pull out sofas are in the studios? We have a value booked this December and planned for our 2 and 4 year olds to share the pullout. Is this a good choice or should we switch to two queens?

I can't help with the comfort of the sofas since during my stay in May, I had the bed while my friend had the pull-out sofa (though she didn't complain). But how are you going to get 2 queen beds? Are you going to upgrade to a 2 BR (1 King plus 1 Queen)?

Oh no! I just meant I could change to a standard room with two queens instead of the value studio.

Since you stayed there can you tell me what you thought about the value studio? It would be 4 of us, DH, me and the two little ones. Is it too tight for all of us?

Aww! That makes sense. :)

I wasn't in a value studio I was in a conciege level studio. But that being said, if you don't feel too cramped in a normal AKL room, then I think that you would be fine. I know that there are other's on this thread that have stayed in a value room so hopefully they will chime in.

Can someone tell me which savanna the DVC concierge rooms over look? Which animals are on that savanna? Do you see the construction? Thanks! Penny
