The All-New "unofficial" AKL/AKV's Jambo & Kidani FAQ thread.....

It seems to be that Disney sometimes does not show availability at certain resorts or for certain room types because they try to push other resorts/rooms. I would recommend to go through a specialised Disney travel agent like Dreams Unlimited. They might be able to help you find a room at AKL!

Thanks for the tip. I have checked back through expedia and the WDW online booking service and I see that the room availablity bounces around from day to day - there always seems to be Standard Bunk rooms so I'll assume that they face the DVC villa construction!

Thanks, everyone, for the quick replies about the hours for the Mara!:)

The answer to this question is probably buried somewhere in this thread...so I am sorry if it has already been asked...but...are bunk beds available in the club level rooms at AKL?

Thank you so much!

I asked this question to the IPO office just this week! There are some rooms with the bunk beds in the club section, but they are not guaranteed, just a request. It sounded like they do try to allocate them on a need-basis first (the example they used was, say, a family with a teenage boy and a teenage girl who obviously dont want to share a bed)... I think if you "need" one you have a better chance at getting one, but there are still no guarantees.

We dont need one, but my DD would like the bunk beds, so I said that if they were available after all the "needs" were met, we would like to have a room with one.

I dont know how many of the rooms have them, though. But if you are interested, speak with the IPO office since they are the ones who can help you with this!

:)

Thank you so much for the reply and information...I will try the IPO!

Congratulations! We're waiting for our first trip to AKL, too! It seems like forever from now, but reading about it and looking at the photos here helps a bit!:)

Hi!

We are booked in a standard view room at AKL in September. It's our first time at this resort.

I'm looking for opinions on what location would be the best for a standard view room... higher floor, best view, close to food court, least noisy, etc.

Thanks for your help!

If you've visited during the construction period..How distracting was it? Was it noisy? Did it kill the "Disney Magic"?

I want to try AKL for our January Anniversary..but I worry it might feel too hectic.

Thanks

During my May stay, the construction didn't really bother me. I think that I found the outdoor painting of the AKL building more annoying than the construction of Kidani.

I Guess That I'm Getting Excited About My Upcoming Trip To AKL CL:woohoo: :woohoo: So I Have Been Wondering What Time The AKL CL Lounge Shuts At:confused3 :confused3

TIA:)

I am going to AKL in october for 2 weeks.

But i have just booked standard package with the UK tour operator. I did not state what sort of room i wanted as i assume all had balconey with savanah view.

I assume this will mean i will get a "standard" room no savanah view. What are my chances of an upgrade at this time of year.

regards

Andy

I think you would be fine. Unless you are put on the Sunset Savannah. Request Arusha Savanna or Uzima :thumbsup2 We were there in late July and there was no distraction for us at all. NO noise whatsoever. We were on Kudu Trail, which has glass viewing areas of the Sunset Savannah along the hallways and for me it was more interesting than anything to look out and see the new construction off in the distance. Our room faced the Arusha Savannah, which is not affected...

The only painting I noticed of the hotel was this, when I was on the balcony of the Sunset Lounge:

Sorry to hear you thought you were getting a savannah view :headache: Perhaps you will be upgraded to pool view or savanna view but for a 2-week stay I'm not sure of the likelihood?? It's possible, though, since something like 90% of the rooms have Savanna views. Both times I've booked standard I've received upgrades to Savanna view, however these were short stays.

Either way, as I'm sure you've read, there are many beautiful spots throughout the resort from which to view the animals. And the resort is magnificent. Here are some pics taken from my recent trip that were not taken from my balcony ;)

Good luck and ENJOY. AKL is fabulous! :wizard:

Thank you for your post.

I hope that we do get upgraded as my son (2.5) loves animals so it will be more for him.

Once we arrive, i will see what the room is like and then try and play the "dumm english tourist" card to see if i can get upgraded.

As if you dont ask you dont get. LOL
