I'm concerned about getting a bad Savannah view. What should I request to be away from the infamous people pens that block good views? If I receive a room with a poor view, can I have it changed?

We always stay on the Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail--great view and plenty of animals. The restaurants and pool are located on this side of the Lodge.

If you don't like the view, you can request another room. Don't forget to mention your celebration when you check in.:goodvibes

Quick questions, does the pool have a supply of vests for the kids or do we bring our own? Also the slide seems pretty tame, it should be okay for a 4.5 yr old do you think? We just switched to AKL today from pofq. Hoping we will like it!

My niece was abt that age her first visit...and loved the slide! And yes there are life vests! Congrats....its a great place!

LOTS of life vests...I think I even remember some "noodles" but I'm not clear on that one.

The slide should be fine for her. Our 5 year old (who can swim...that may make the difference...not sure) LOVED It.

Yes, there should be dish soap, coffee filters (not sure how many) and paper towels. The bathrooms will have soap and small bottles of shampoo.

Thank you
We are staying in a 2Bdr villa
I have a few more questions as I am making my grocery list.
There is a Dishwasher right? So do they include Dishwasher soap too? Also I know there is a washer and dryer in the room ~do they provide any laundry detergent? Also to the Washer and Dryers cost money to use? What about salt and pepper?

I can't think of anything else that might already be in the room.

Thanks!

Yes they provide both, but it's not much. If you plan on doing more than 2 loads of laundry you will definitely need to buy more. The washer and dryers in the unit are your to use free of charge whenever you want during your stay. Only in the laundy room do they charge.

We never had enough dishes to do every day so we never ran out of dishwasher soap. We were always able to make it until our mousekeeping day and they replenish what we used.

Sorry, I don't remember about salt and pepper.

We arrive on Sunday 8th Feb 2009, If I book a conceirge room for Sunday night and have savanna view for the rest of my stay after that will we be able to do the sunrise safari on the Thursday?

Thanks :)

I thought that I had read that guests staying at AKV could also go to other resort pools? If so, what about Storm Along Bay~ can we go there?

"Pool hopping" is available to DVC members staying on points for all WDW resort pools, except for Stormalong Bay at the BC/YC and the Uzima Springs Pool at the AKL/AKV.

If you booked your reservation through CRO, then you are only allowed to use the pool at the resort where you're booked.

If you have rented points through a DVC member - it's likely you could "get away" with visiting other pools on property (save for those listed above) with just your room key that says "DVC Member" on it, but members are supposed to carry their official Membership Card with them when pool-hopping. If you're asked for proof of that identification and don't have it, then they'll likely ask you to leave.

Another Question:

How early can guests catch a bus to Down Town Disney? DD and DS have appointments at the BBB in the morning and we are supposed to be there by 8:50AM. I want to make sure that it would be possible to get over to DDD by that time for their appointments otherwise I need to change them to a later time.

thanks again!:flower3:

Sorry - Central Reservations Office.

Basically, if you called and booked with Disney directly (or if you're having a travel agent handle the reservation for you), then you're booked through CRO/The Walt Disney Travel Company.

Just back from AKL.

The pool was full of noodles and there seemed to be lots of vests for kids. My 4.5 year old went down the slide with the vest quite a few times for one or two days. She may have gotten scared though since she did not use the slide after the first couple of days.

DVC members do not have to pay for the washer and dryer use. We took soap but a CM gave us some as well. This was on the DVC floor so it might be different for non DVC stays.

In the room I did have coffee but no filters. And they did not replenish the supply since the CMs only visit DVC rooms once or twice during the stay. I ened up buying a mug and just walking down to get coffee in the morning. The walk is very nice and looking at the animals as well as the resort decor was always entertaining. I would start up the oatmeal in the microwave and by the time I go back with the coffee the oatmeal was cool enough to eat.

I can't remember if there was salt and pepper in the room. I did notice that people who had room service had salt and pepper shakers on their trays. I would think you could go to the Mara and get salt and pepper if its not in the room.

AKL is simply an awesome place. We did not want to leave. The details in the decor is impressive.

If you have kids age 4-12 Simba's Clubhouse was excellent but expensive. $11 per child per hour. Our kids loved the place and hated to leave. Our last night was supposed to include a family dinner but the kids wanted to go back to Simba's so we sent them back. The CMs were great.

I think that you may need to drive or take a taxi for an 8:50 appointment. If memory serves me correct, I don't think that that buses start running to DTD until about 10 AM. Another option (long one!) would be to take a bus to the park, then switch to an SSR bus. At SSR get off at Congress Park and then walk to DTD.

Welcome back and I am glad that you had a wonderful stay there. I can hardly wait for September to get here! My oldest son has been hospitalized for the past week and I feel like I need a vacation NOW.
