sorry if this has already been asked- cause i didn't read all the pages yet
anyone you recently been to AKL if the refrigerators are free?
i think they are but my DH read somewhere that they charge like $10.
do i have to request one?
thanks

The refrigerators at all of the deluxe resorts, including AKL, are free. They are in every room so you don't even have to ask for one.

I had an old email that did not work . Does anyone have one they have used recently and know it works they can share with me. Thanks.

Okay I'm heading to AKL in two days and am packing right now (running out room in the suitcases...:rolleyes1.) If I understand correctly towels and swimvests are provided at the AKL pool. I am currently packing my childrens swimvests because I'm afrain they may run out (it's July and everyone and their brother will be at the pool I'm sure) and I don't want them going in the pool without them. Is it common for them to run out? We won't be getting to the pool until the afternoons. Thank you for your wisdom.:flower3:

So for our family of 4 (2 children - 2 and 4 years old - and 2 adults) should we go with the value studio or the standard one bedroom?
What are the views for the value studios?

Need someone to point me to the right direction.

We have 3 pool-view rooms when we go in weeks. I read thru the FAQ's, but couldn't figure out where the access walkway from the pool view rooms to the bus depot. It is not specify on the resort map. Can anyone show me where?
Thanks.

Just thought I'd pop over and say hello to all of my fellow AKL friends! :)

Good morning everyone.....we just returned home from our 8 night stay at AKL...we had a fabulous time...:thumbsup2 We were there from June 26-July 4.
This was our first stay at AKL, and first time in a deluxe. It was a trip for just my son and myself. We were both celebrating birthdays there....he turned 10 years old on July 1 and I turned 34 on July 3. The resort is beatiful! We had a pool room on the first floor. I didn't like being on the first floor at all, and would recommend something on a higher floor. We really enjoyed the savannah and decided that next time, we will definately stay in a savannah view room. Our room was spacious with 2 queen beds. We had towel animals everyday and we loved coming back from the parks and racing back to our room just to see what animal we would get that day.
We were both given birthday buttons at check in. We also each received a birthday card on our birthdays with a picture of Mickey and Minnie and signed by both. We had a reservation at Boma on my son's birthday and he received a surprise birthday dessert. It was wonderful.
The pool is huge and plenty of pool chairs....however, the chairs closest to the pool fill up fast.
We really enjoyed our stay and will definately stay at AKL again.
Here are just a few of my pictures....not the greatest, but I thought I would share anyways...

Thanks!

We are going in a few weeks and staying CL too so I can't wait to hear your trip report! Are you going on the sunrise safari?

Yeah! We are staying at the AKL in CL also. Can't wait to hear the answer about the WiFi - my sis wants to know if she should/could bring her laptop, too. :)

The easiest way from any pool view room to bus stop is to go through the lobby, exit through the main door and turn left. However, I have read about an exit directly from Giraffe trail to the walkway down to the bus stop. I personally have never used it. It should either be on the first or second floor (third floor is lobby level), so I would suggest to check there. If you stay on Zebra Trail (which has pool view rooms as well), you can go down to the pool level (first floor) walk along the pool and into Giraffe Trail to use that exit.

One tip: it is actually shorter to walk through the shop when walking to and from the bus stop (but maybe more time consuming, the shop is really nice!).

Hi, I am staying at AKL in a Savannah view room in September. At check-in is there a Savannah/trail I should request if I want to see the most Giraffes? That's the most important animal for me!

Thanks for the info. I will post my finding after I return from AKL. I will definitely try both ways. Maybe a few pictures showing the "secret" shortcut :wizard:
