Wow....everyone is so fast! I was going to let you know that it can be found on allears.net under the photos of Kidani Village. 

I'm staying at Kidani in a 1 bedroom Suite with a standard (non-savannah) view during the 2nd week of January...

Can I simply let them know upon check-in that we would like a room close to the lobby?? OR would that need to be something that is requested ahead of time?

Hi everybody! We are super excited, we booked our room for 9 nights at Jambo house club level for our DFTW trip.

It is our all-time favorite resort, and we had to skip this year's annual AKL stay so I can't wait! We have never stayed at the AKL's club level so I have a couple of questions:

1) Do all club level rooms have DVD players like in other club levels at other resorts in property? And if so, do they have a DVD library that you can loan DVD's from?

2) Any tips I should know about check-in? We will be arriving with a LOT of baggage, boxes, bins, etc in preparation for the wedding, so we need to make sure we have plenty of help from bell services.

We normally can deal with our own bags, we pack light, but this time it will be quite the operation!

Thanks!

The room assigner will assign a room to you about 3 days prior to arrival. You would need to have your "close to lobby" request in your reservation before the room assigner sees it. If upon check-in you're not assigned a room as close as you'd like, you can always ask if there is availability. This is easiest if you haven't done online check-in. Even if your room isn't ready yet, they know where it's located and can show you on the map.

Good luck!

Actually, all AKL rooms have DVD players. In fact, when we were there the first week in August, they replaced our rooms' DVD player with a new one. I haven't used the AKL DVD library.

Bell services can handle it all. They'll bring as many carts as you need and store everything. Just pull-up to the entrance and they'll take it from there. (You might want to carry some extra Ones;)).

Have a great vacation!

2nd - there seem to be mixed reviews about the buses...We will have a car. Are there some parks that are better to drive to? Any thoughts or experiences?

The bus service to MK seems to consistently be "spotty" - it usually took at least 45 minutes to get there ... but that may not be any longer than driving to the TTC and taking the monorail or ferry to the gates ...

No problems with getting to the other parks or DTD ...

I love reading this thread! My dream is an anniv trip to AKL, and I'm addicted to reading anything I can found about it! It looks so beautiful. When we are there in Nov with the kids, our one ADR is for dinner at Boma! Can't wait!

Thanks for all the info!

Give your self some extra time before and after dinner to walk around and check out the AKL - it's truly amazing!!

And Boma rocks! - make sure to try the Palaver Stew if it's on the menu ...

Wow... 45 minutes!? How come so long?

45 minutes? It never took us that long to get there. The longest was 20 minutes from AKL to MK. Was this during a really busy time?

Not sure if anyone answered this question recently, but I didn't see it anywhere...

How long a walk is it from Jambo House to Kidani? We'd like to try their pool, but are unsure if we should walk or just take the bus. And if we're busing it, do we just hop on whatever bus pulls up? Do they all head to Kidani before going on to the parks, or is there an "internal bus" between the two?

Thanks!

we walked back to Kidani from Jambo after eating at Boma and it took us less than 10 minutes...I think you take the DTD bus from Jambo to Kidani, but I'm not 100% on that

The 45 minutes included waiting for the bus to arrive - it seemed there were comparatively few buses running from AKL to MK, and we usually had a 15-20 minute wait until the bus arrived ... (and it's not like we had just missed the bus - there were usually people waiting when we arrived at the stop ...) Then you have the 20 minute ride to the MK ...

It's probably because the longer ride from AKL to MK (20 minutes) compared to the other parks (5-10 minutes) means the buses don't "cycle" through as fast ...

Eeyoresnr, you are correct! The DTD bus stops at Kidani. On your return to Jambo House, take any resort bus.

When I stayed AKL CL in Jan 2010 the DVD library was in the gift shop. DVC members could borrow for free but all other guests had to pay a rental fee-I can't remember if it was $2.50 or $5/night.
