I have a follow-up question, Kathy! The times we have stayed CL we have been on Kudo Trail. Do you (or anyone else on here) know if there are CL rooms on Zebra Trail too?

For sure :thumbsup2 We've stayed CL on the Zebra Trail a few times

Hi all!

We're checking into AKL in about 3 weeks. This is our first deluxe stay and I recently switched it from the Poly. I hope I made the right decision!!!!

The Poly just had so many recent negative reviews about cleanliness that really I can not deal with, especially for the price.

I really wanted to stay at AKL too, so here I am....

We have a savana view room, just wondering what to request. Definitely want giraffes and zebras. Also what floor offers the best view of the savana?

How are the busses? Only three weeks to go. I am excited and NERVOUS!!!

I think you made the right decision!:thumbsup2 We did not like our stay at Poly & won't stay there again. We LOVED AKL & will be going back our next trip. I couldn't believe how much cheaper it is to stay at AKL than Poly when I thought AKL was so much better.:confused3
I thought the buses were quick & plenty, but this was b4 Kidani opened.

I see that Sea Turtles has answered your question.

We've stayed CL a few times and have always been on the Zebra Trail. I like the Zebra Trail because the restaurants and pool are located on that side of the lodge. Give Don a call and make a request.

And that is the reason we were interested in staying on that side. The trek from Kudu Trail to the elevators can be a little long. How far out the trail do the CL rooms go?

Yes, what I said was that I know what you said WAS true. But, I have read several conversations recently from people who have had different experiences and been told that the pool now has limited hours.

The old activities sheets list hours for other things, but, not for Uzima -- i.e. it was open for 24 hours per day. So, I figure if the stories about being told that the pool was closed and reading a pool rules sign that says that the pool closes are true, the current activities sheets will list hours.

I will hazard to guess that people are mistaking life guard hours for pool hours.

Someone asked about Mara earlier and no one mentioned the Zebra Domes, so I will ;)

Mara has Zebra Domes. They serve the same soup that is offered at Boma. They are really great about special diets.

for those that have stayed at AKL and Poly...are the rooms bigger in size? layout different?
We stayed at reg room at Poly a couple years ago and are doing CL at AKL next week. I was looking for room layout pics but cant find much. So excited and I want to know what it looks like LOL!

The rooms at the Poly are some of the largest on WDW property, so I think you will notice the smaller size of your room at AKL.

Here is a link on AllEars with lots of photos. And here is a link on the DIS with a few room layouts. Some of the "wording" on the photo/drawing links are outdated since there are no longer any deluxe rooms (they were converted to the DVC villas) but you will get an idea about appearance and furniture placement.

Poly rooms are bigger, but the AKL rooms are big enough. We had 3 adults & 1 child and never felt cramped.

Boy, I'm so happy we have just updated to AKL for our stay. This will our first time staying in a deluxe!

I thought I was the only one who didn't think Poly was all that great. I enjoyed staying there and I'm glad we did, but I just wasn't wowed by it like I thought I would be. I kept thinking I could have saved a LOT of $ and stayed at AKL and still been at a deluxe!!! Have a great stay! :goodvibes

Any room/floor Savana trails to request? I'd like to be close to it all... Also is boma easy to get for breakfast or dinner? I haven't made a ressie there because I made them all near the poly and monorail resorts and now have to relook at my adrs....

Hey,

Trying to decide what to add as room request for AKV-J. We've never stayed near the Arusha Rock so we've always been able to look all the way across the Savannahs. If we get a room close to Arusha Rock, can you still see lots of animals or does the rock get in the way?

We're staying in a studio and would really like to be near the DVC laundry room which is right by the rooms that overlook Arusha Rock. I know...odd request. LOL

:laundy:

We are staying at AKL CL next week. We have our 1 year old DD. Is there a highchair for her to use in the lounge? :confused3

We checked in yesterday at club level..Everything was gorgeous!!!! The rooms are small, so we took a chance and asked if they had any openings at kidani and they did! So we moved over here today and paid the difference which wasnt bad at all! We are now in a one bedroom at kidani...5th floor..not sure where we are located but its kind of a long walk from everything!!! Couldnt use the pool tonight as we were having storms but I hear its awesome. We have a one bedroom with pull out couch, kitchen, laundry, master bathroom is TO DIE FOR!!
