The All-New "unofficial" AKL/AKV's Jambo & Kidani FAQ thread.....

I stayed in a 1-bedroom with my mom, who also had an ECV, last year at Kidani. Request near the lobby and you should be fine. We had lots of animals all day long outside our room. The giraffes fed outside our room in the morning and the zebras slept right outside our window each night. BTW--Kidani is only one building and I don't know much about staying at Jambo. Good luck!

Hi thanks for the info, can you tell me what room you were in? Thanks

Anyone have a recent Kidani activity schedule? Most especially interested in which nts they do the poolside mives, what has been showing and the times. Also , the kids activities around the pool during the day.

TIA

When do you go?
We will be there next week and I will bring home one to post if that helps.

Does anyone know how far ahead they do the activity schedule? I can email CL also and try.

Also, do the daily activites go all day/evening for the kids?

For the AKL-CL fans... I just saw this:

Beginning December 19, 2010, WDW will no longer offer the Wildlife Discovery Excursion at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park for Guests staying in Club Level accommodations at Disney resorts.

I'm pretty sure that I read the pool is open 24hr's, but I could be wrong. I tried to research this and could not find where I had read 24 hr's. ...

The pool is open 24 hrs/day, but there aren't any lifeguards after a certain time....maybe 10:00?

There are several sites that say the pool is open 24 hrs/day and I know plenty of people who have said that was true in the past. However, I've seen a few conversations about the possibility that that may have changed. I think the info would be on the Activities sheet, but, I can't seem to find a picture of a recent one.

JSG -- I know you didn't go into the pool, but, did you keep an activities sheet (or read about pool hours)?

The pool is accessible 24/7. The brochure may have different times listed as they will list the times a lifeguard is present but I have been in the AK pool at all hours on many visits along with many other people. At some resorts, the pool actually closes and they make you get out (Storm Along Bay, Poly pool). NOT true at AKL.

Yes, what I said was that I know what you said WAS true. But, I have read several conversations recently from people who have had different experiences and been told that the pool now has limited hours.

The old activities sheets list hours for other things, but, not for Uzima -- i.e. it was open for 24 hours per day. So, I figure if the stories about being told that the pool was closed and reading a pool rules sign that says that the pool closes are true, the current activities sheets will list hours.

I thought that I saw a write up that all of Jambo house Savahanna rooms have fridges but now can't locate that info. :surfweb: So do they?

All rooms at WDW's Deluxe and Moderate resorts have refrigerators now. :thumbsup2

I just got off the phone with Member Services and was told that Camp Kidani is no longer being offered. Can anyone confirm? I called for our trip teh first week in October.

Hi everyone we are making our first trip home to Kidani in January and I am wondering if they do pool games at the Kidani pool? This is one of our favorite things and I am hoping the do?:confused3

If I do online check in, do I need to request any special locations for CL??

There is no need to do online check-in if you are staying on the Club Level. Your room will be located on the Arusha Savanna, 4th floor.

It was running while we were there this past week.

Yes, they have a "pool party" in the afternoons. They also have other games/trivia/movie nights at the pool on various days during the week.

I have a follow-up question, Kathy! The times we have stayed CL we have been on Kudo Trail. Do you (or anyone else on here) know if there are CL rooms on Zebra Trail too?

Hi all!

We're checking into AKL in about 3 weeks. This is our first deluxe stay and I recently switched it from the Poly. I hope I made the right decision!!!!

The Poly just had so many recent negative reviews about cleanliness that really I can not deal with, especially for the price.

I really wanted to stay at AKL too, so here I am....

We have a savana view room, just wondering what to request. Definitely want giraffes and zebras. Also what floor offers the best view of the savana?

How are the busses? Only three weeks to go. I am excited and NERVOUS!!!

I have a copy of June's activity schedule but not sure how to copy and paste it here??

I just called as we wanted to do this in October also. The girl at AKL recreation said it was still going...however, she said she couldn't book it for me, it had to be done at community hall and Kidani and she couldn't give me the number. She suggested I just book it when I arrive, as she says normally there are very few kids signed up for it.

I guess that isn't really a confirmation...but if anyone knows the proper # to call, I would try that too. I used 407-938-4745, which is AKL recreation.
