Well, I may be loony  but, I was in the 80s building and still had a wonderful time at Pop. Of course, I am an 80s child, so that helped (tho I loved the themes at each area). I feel like the distance wasn't that big a deal for us, tho I can definately see how different circumstances could make it more annoying. There were only two of us, no children to worry about, and we never made an extra trips back and forth to the room. Usually it was just from the room to the food court or buses in the morning and then back to the room at night. Usually in the morning we'd take a shortcut through the parking lot or behind the 70's building to make the walk quicker, and strolled slowly through the "long way" at night when we were tired (it's so pretty at night!) I cant wait to go back, I'd definately take the 80s rooms no one else wants ;)

Okay. Don't take the looney part personally :) I was kidding. We stayed in the '90s one night. We got there midmorning and spent the rest of that day and the first half of the next one. Staying there, we just didn't feel like we were part of the resort. The parking lot is a great alternative for getting to the bus, but you miss the atmosphere of the resort. And, if you want directly to the bus and back, it's not bad. But, if you are in your room and decide you want a snack, and you just returned from a park 20 minutes ago, it's not exactly convenient to run to the food court and get something. The theming is nice, though. And, I suppose I should add that the walk won't kill anyone, it's just not as easily accessible as the other areas are.

I'm sure that somewhere on this massive thread this question has been asked, but I am going to ask again since I don't have time to read the whole thread right now.:) Anyway, how late is the main pool open? Are the quiet pools open 24 hours? Thanks!

There is a small kiddie pool behind the HippyDippy Pool. It's circular, with maybe a foot of water at the deepest point. Perfect for crouching and splashing. It's situated close behind the HippyDippy, like between that pool and the lake and the Playdoh and Jungle Book characters. I believe all of the pools are only open until midnight but I could be wrong.

What time does the first bus roll out of Pop? Do they run early enough to go to early entry?

We have ps for CP at 8:00, and was wondering if I should drive or can I take the bus and get there in time.

We did not have any trouble getting the bus for early openings - just be sure to be out there in plenty of time to make the very first bus. Check and double check with the front desk....they don't always get it right!!! The buses do start in time for the early days though.

Pretty sure I'm switching my December ressies to Pop. It will be me, DD-8, DS-5-but turning 6 on the trip, and DS-2. Also my sister and niece-14. Which building should we request? We have to have connecting rooms as I will be arriving with all 4 kids two days before my sister, and we need non-smoking for medical reasons. But, which section is a toss-up? We would love to be near any of the big icons, ie. Mickey phone, Lady & Tramp, Baloo & Mogli.

Any thoughts? Also, which has the closest parking lots? Which is closest to food court? With 4 kids on my own, convenience is important.

Thanks!

Me personally, I'd request the '70s. That is where we stayed the last time. You have the Mickey phone, the giant big wheel, the Pop Jets, and it's very close to the food court and a swimming pool over in the '60s. Of course, you have quite a few requests, and you will have to list them in order of what is most important. So, just remember that you might not get the area you request. The '50s would be convenient also. You might be better off requesting to have one or the other. The '80s/90s is the only area that is not completely convenient. You'd have to cut through the parking lot to get to the bus, and that's not save with that many kids. It's a fun resort, though, and you'll have fun.

Thanks! I was thinking of requesting the 70's. They will supposedly guarantee the connecting rooms becase it will be one adult with 4 kids for the first two nites. The non-smoking is a medical request so pretty sure we'll be okay there too.

Medical non-smoking request will be honored, jsut make sure they tell you it is guaranteed! I like the 50's section, but I did not have kids with me last time. It was close, pool in front and we could see the top of Illuminations at night form the room. But if I had children (of all ages)with me I might also request the 70's.

As Madi100 wrote, keep your requests simple and in order -that will help to get what you want.

Non-smoking
connecting rooms
70's building (which side?)
etc...

Have a great trip!! I love going with kids and was the only adult lots of time. Wish I could borrow some...all I know are grown up now!! Lordy, I NEED grandbabies!!!

WOW, ChairborneRangr, That's amazing!!!

Any chance you might know about 50's buildings room #'s? Which rooms are non-smoking, not connecting, facing pool?

Thank you!!

Tyler, do you know which rooms are the smoking rooms? I can add that info onto my resort info.

BaciBecky, go to the Pop Century Floor Layout link in my sig. Take a look at the front row rooms. The non-connecting rooms facing the courtyard will be the rooms on either end of the long side of the resort building. 08-12 are on the right as you face the building from the courtyard, 61-65 are on the left. Also rooms 01 and 72 are courtyard facing and non-connecting. THey are also the closest to the elevators/ice/building Icon etc.

The central rooms 01, 24, 25, 48, 49, 72 are all closest to the elevators and ice. 01 and 72 are the only ones with the courtyard view, though.

Thank you, Stephen!

I've stayed in 50's, but would like to try for a courtyard view next time...also, are there connecting rooms should I need that?

You're the best!!

Christine
edit: Found the connecting rooms on the map -thanks!

That I do not know... the only ones I know off the top of my head are 4101-4124

Mommy Poppins,

Here is a link to a photo on ChairborneRangr POP photo page. It gives a good view of where the buildings are in distance to the Food Court, Bus, Check-in etc..although, it looks a bit farther in the photos than it feels when youa re walking it, except for 80's & 90's...those do seem a bit of a walk to me. 50's are at the Bowling Pin Pool. Guess the 80's and 90's are not really any further, but they sure seem further when walking...oh,well, Im probably prejudice becasue I do not care for the 80's or 90's icons...actually, the only icons I like are Lady and the Tramp!

I am looking forwad to the other area of POP opening...any one heard any possible opening date??? Is the work ongoing or have they stopped?

Thanks!
Christine

what building, etc. we might request:

We have three rooms reserved through Dreams Unlimited checking in on the 14th.

It's my mother's first trip to WDW, she's 80. We'll probably rent an ECV for her in the parks but want to cut down on walking as much as possible at the resort. I know POP is compact but also think first floor and QUIET is important. To add to this one of our group smokes but never in the room. We'll need a place where she can go smoke without bothering non smokers.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Mary Alice

Well, Pop is now sold out for our dates, so we're going to be at the ASMovies. Thanks tho for all your info on Pop. Wish there was an All Stars thread like this!!

Mommy Poppins...when are you going? I'm just curious when POP is sold out! I'm hoping it isn't the 1st week in December! :earseek:
