I'm not sure if this has been asked before (it's a long 44 pages to read through again) but will we have to drive over in our car for our 8am ps at Donald's Breakfastosaurus? DH is hoping to take the bus but I said I didn't think they ran that early. AK opens at 9am the day we are going.

All buses start running at least 30-45 mins prior to the first Priority Seating. MK buses start at 6:30, DAK and Studios (for the Epcot Resort area) start at 7:00, and Epcot at 7:15-7:30, if not earlier.

Also, is it true that there are so many room request faxes that the room assigner is ignoring them now?

Well, you have to understand that a request is simply that... a request. Requests are not guaranteed. Medical reasons will always take a priority over non-medical reasons. And with all the many requests that do come in, it's also not always possible to honor every request. It's jnot that the person is ignoring them, it's just that they are unable to.

We are heading to the Pirate Adventure Dinner from the Pop Century on our first night there. The Pirate place appears to be on the way to Universal. Are there mini-van size taxis that come to Pop Century (we are a party of six) and does anyone have an estimation of what it will cost? Thanks!

Checker Cab is the only cab that is licensed to solicit on property. They are operated by Mears Transportation Group, which also operates Yellow Cab (but yet they are orange), City Cab, and Safety Cab. The vans they use will hold up to 7 people, plus a TON of luggage.

Other cab companies are allowed to pick up at Disney, but it must be pre-arranged due to licencing. There are tons of other independant cabs out there, most are fine, but there are a few that will scam you, and they have given everyone else a bad name. So it's hard to know who to trust.

First off to mugglemom if "While paying, I mentioned on the phone that we would prefer the 70's building. Is that all I have to do? Or do I have to fax the request somewhere or call the resort?" that is good enough. If it would make you feel more secure in your request it never hurts to fax a request as well. If you decide to send a fax the number is (407) 938-4040 and remember wait until about 4 or 5 days before your stay to send your request.

As far as Zoo Keeper's question "Since our departing flight leaves at 7:45pm, can we store our luggage until we are ready to leave?
Can anyone provide directions to POP from the Sanford airport?"

If your flight leaves at 7:45pm you can always store your bags with our luggage assistance CM's and pick them up when you're ready to leave. Secondly if you're looking for directions to the Sanford Airport from Pop Century hopefully this will do.

To address jann1033's comments if you are interested in a wheelchair they are available at the resort on a first come, first serve basis. There is no charge, they are available on a borrowed basis only, but if not returned there is a charge of $315 plus.

To respond to Ariel'sMom's question there are mini-van taxi's and most taxi's in Orlando will let 6 ride for the price of one! As far as what that price is I'm not quite sure. Iw ould say somewhere between $25 to $40?

TimNDansMom asks if they will have to drive to a 8am PS for AK and the answer is no, just to let you know the busses start running at 7am everying morning so you should be able to get there without driving. But worse comes to worse if you do drive and decide to goto another park after AK closes you can always catch a bus elsewhere and then come back to get your car later. And as far as the question regard our room assigner that is simply not true, I know for a fact that each and every day a part of the room assigner's role is to review the requests and do what they can to meet them for everyone involved. So if you are worried you can always fax your request still, but as a personal note a large number of guests request a pool view so if you decided to give your's up I'm sure we would easily be able to make sure you are somewhere else in the building. I would almost say try it out one night and if it doesn't suit you then ask to switch rooms. Also things like this can normally be easily handled at check in, so it really comes down to a matter of how you would prefer to approach it.

Well kids that looks like all the questions anywho can wait to meet you all when you get here. And like Tyler said if you're looking for either one of us and can't seem to locate who you're looking for, just ask another cast member, they normally have a good idea of where or when to look. Okay kids talk to you all later!

Thanks for the info, Tyler and Joshua! :) :)

The CM I spoke to when making the early PS at AK said that the only information she had was that the buses started running approx. 30 - 45 minutes before park opening. DH will be happy to hear he doesn't have to drive!

I totally understand about room "requests" and that is why I have never bothered. So far I have been lucky and always enjoyed the room locations given us, at Disney. If pool views are so popular, maybe I will trust luck again and see what they assign us at check-in.

So if I don't fax in a request (we will be there in May), would it be so bad? I mean does it really matter which building we get? If all the buildings are close to the bus stop and food court, I don't think I care which one we get. Right????

DH and I are just back from a seven night stay at POP. We loved it and are staying again in May. We had 4th floor facing pool in 50's, room was a connecting one. My one request when I made ressies WAY back in October or so was 50's buliding. I personally heard no noise from pool until I opened our room door. No noise from next room either but for all I know it could have been empty.

On the issue of "requests" we are a family of 5 (3 children) and are booking 2 rooms (technically we could fit in one because we have twins under 3 but feel we would be more comfortable in 2 rooms) so when I say "we need" connecting rooms I really mean we need it, this cannot be a request.

How can I ensure this? I realize this is not a medical situation, but obviously when staying with 3 children, we need connecting rooms.

thanks!

Wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful info. My finacee and I will be staying at Pop CEntury Oct. 8th-11th for our honeymoon. Can't wait

We plan to take advantage of early entry on each parks designated day but have been warned that by afternoon the crowds in the EE park will be greater than on other days. So we are thinking of hopping to a different park after lunch.

My question is about the actual logistics of this. How do we get from MGM to Epcot? Both the easiest way and the fastest way.

Also, just the reverse how do you go from Epcot to MGM?

Also, I have heard that no buses go from Resort to Resort. Is this true? For example we are staying at The POP and we arrive on a Sunday afternoon. We have that afternoon and evening to do what ever we want but we do not want to waste a full day park ticket. We thought we would wander around and check out some of the other places like Animal Kingdom Lodge. How do we go from Pop to AKL?

Do the resort buses run from the Ticket and transprtation center?

I guess what I need is a good Disney bus route and schedule!

::yes:: .......................::yes:: .....................::yes::

From POP to AKL, take the AKL bus TO the Park itself, and than get on the bus TO AKL!;) Also, according to my recent Transportation map, to "get to ANY resort, take Transportation to Downtown Disney, than switch to destination Bus at Downtown Disney."

poohbear123-you are right, i have found to go to AKL from another resort or in my case it was AKL to another resort:) it was best to take a bus to AK and transfer from there.
however, i have done a lot of resort hopping in the last year and found the DD busses were always the slowest:rolleyes: i found it much faster to take a bus to whatever park was still open and transfer to where i was going from there. hope this helps:D

On another thread someone kindly posted this link and it has some great ideas of ways to get around.

We have been told too that the best way to go anywhere from the resort is to go to the nearest Park. From the maps I have seen that would be MGM, I think. Many have said that going to Downtown Disney will work but it will not be the fastest way.

Any shortcuts that anyone has learned over the years will be appreciated! :earsgirl:

Hey folks!! Just wanted to start off by saying I have some bad news... my computer is on the fritz. As such, I probably won't be online as much as I'd like... right now it's limping along, but who knows... My new computer won't arrive until March 2nd, so until then, I might be away.

In regards to connecting room requests, if there are children involved, then it is considered a need, and will be honored. Pop Century was designed so that 50% of our rooms are connecting rooms, so it shouldn't be a problem.

In regards to buses, they run from Park to Resort, and from Resort to Park. In order to go from Resort to Resort, you will need to make a transfer. Downtown Disney is the Disney recommended place to make that transfer on all the guidemaps for one reason only -- it's the easiest.

If you want to make a more efficient transfer, the theme parks are better. From Pop Century, the Disney-MGM Studios makes a great transfer point for all areas. DAK would work for AKL, and the MK would also work for any MK areas.

Oh Tyler I am sorry you are having computer problems! :( I know first hand how distressing that can be. Fortunately we have a computer programer in our family and he (DS) can do anything! :teeth: Can we say proud mom? :D

Thank you so very much for confirming my transportation ideas. We are getting to the under 21 days point and I am obsessing about what to do first and how to make the most of every second!

Hope you get your new computer up and running with no problems! We will miss you! ::yes:: ....

Tyler, sorry to here about your computer! You are such a wealth of information for all of us.

Can't wait to get to POP in April, hope to look you up and say thank-you in person.

::yes:: .......................::yes:: .....................::yes::

they did have a transportation/ road map at the front desk ( found it on one of the last days) that might help..there isn't any real "schedule". more like 15-20 mins if it isn't real busy and as soon as they get back if it is :) if the parks are still open definitely go that route or plan on wasting al least an hr or 2 in transit ( this was in Jan) between resort/wait for bus-dtd/wait for bus-begin to pull out hair/finally get back to home resort. at least pop is direct from dtd... some like the epcot resorts, mono.resorts( somehow, could never figure out if we were going to stop somewhere else or not so maybe they are on demand or something) and cs make a bunch of stops before you even head for dtd

My DD and I just got back from Pop Century this week. My DD loved the resort. We've stayed at all 3 All-Star resorts also. I think I actually like All-Star Movies better. The icons are cool at this resort but the parking definitely leaves something to be desired. We were in the 60's building #4 on the 4th floor overlooking the small pool. Getting luggage from the car to the room was a large task. I had read on this board that having your luggage delivered could take quite some time (which we didn't have on check-in and check-out day) so we did it ourselves. Next time I think I'll definitely have luggage service. We arrived about 2:00 p.m. and the check-in process was quick. I looked for Tyler a couple times but didn't see him. :(

The room seemed about the same as All-Stars although it seems like there is a little bit less space between the door and the 1st bed. It seemed pretty cramped trying to get in and out of the door with luggage, etc.

The food court was good. We bought our cups and used them through-out our stay. The frozen coke machine was broken all but 1 or 2 days of our stay. I didn't particularly like going through the gift shop to get to the food court. Also, many people went through the gift shop to the food court from the busses with strollers, etc. and it can be difficult to manuveur through the aisles.

As others discussed, the bus-stops at the resorts for Pop Century are usually the last one (meaning more walking). This is a little dis-heartening after a long day. One night after staying for the fireworks at MK, the line was through the maze and back all the way past the All-Star maze. Even with 2 busses at a time, that line took a long time.

It was a fun trip and I'm already looking forward to the next one. My DD princess: has already said that she wants to go back to this resort but I think I'm still leaning towards All-Star Movies which is my favorite.

well, a change in plans....

We had dinner with Fiancee's Parents and they planned on paying for our honeymoon. Thyey are members of the DVC so we will be staying at the Beach Club Villas instead of Pop Century. I'm thinking maybe next year we'll take my son and then we'll stay in Pop.

Just returned last night from a 8 night stay in WDW. We stayed at the Pop Century. Loved it soo very much! I saw Tyler at the baggage check and said "HI" and thanked him for all his advise and help he gives us all on these boards! Everyone is really nice. We had 2 connecting rooms, 2107 & 2106 that is in the 50's building. We have 2 kids 10 and 8 and would highly recommend 2 rooms. It made it soo nice! We were by the pool and about a 3 min. walk to the main building. We were also right by the laundry building and they have plenty of washers and dryers. I did laundry actually a few times early in the morning and had no problems. Late in the evening was real crowded.
Would be happy to answer any questions.
I want to go back:Pinkbounc
