Thanks so much for all the info, I really appreicate it! Something I'm very worried about though is the air condition, I read in another post that a couple had just gotten back from their stay at the POP and she said that the room never cooled down even though the A/C was running all night. Is this a problem in at POP???

Hi, meganbear!

The thermostats at Pop Century have the same kind of motion detector that they have on the thermostats at Port Orleans and I think most of the moderates. If the room isn't cooling correctly, all you have to do is call maintenance and they will come in and fix it so you can set the thermostat for lower than 68 degrees.

When we were there last week, the room was just fine. My spouse is almost always quite warm, but the 68 degrees at night didn't cause him any problems. I am up 5-6 times at night, which always kicked the air conditioning on in the room. And I didn't have to do anything special to get it to come on...just getting out of bed seemed to do it(smile).

you are right

we didn't have any problem with the room temp. during the time we were there when the outside temp ranged from 40 at night to 80+ during the day.

I do have a question....I have seen many posts about the first number of the room number being the building number but ours in the 70's second floor was 0245, ....wondering if when I requested my room of 2465( I think,which I didn't get) it was because all the rooms are not numbered that way? it was supposed to be in the 50's. any ideas?

Hi, jann 1033!

If I remember correctly, the first building in the 70's is the "0" building and so all of the room numbers for that building will start with zero. We were in the first 50's building on the second floor, so our room number was 1270.

evidently faxing is the way to go cause my phone calls must have been completely ignored since they told us when we checked in Jan 9( for our stay till the 20) all the 50's room were gone for our entire stay before I had made my room request.(weird since we were there 10 days before you!) I started calling about 3 weeks before we left home on the 4th so about the middle of Dec and the request was supposibly put on our ressies.but according to the Cm at check in my request was too late ..mind telling me when you asked for the rooms I was told were "gone" by time I called in the mid. of Dec? I know others have posted about asking 2 weeks before arrival but I started even earlier since I wanted to stay there and called every week till we left "just in case", giant waste of long distance charges.

nothing I can do about it since the trip is over but it irritates me that they acted like it was my fault when it obviously was their mistake...she also said you couldn't see epcot or illuminations at all from any where at Pop or any other parks since I said we had wanted that room for that purpose ( illuminations)

just reread your post and you were there after we left but still don't get it.

Remember what Tyler keeps saying - those calls are going to a call center and not to the front desk cast members. I still think the way to go is to mention your room request to CRO - but Joshua has said that you still may fax your requests. I am going to take Joshua's and Tyler's word for it that you can, on a clear night, see some of Illuminations from the '50s buildings. I don't think you got the most knowledgeable person on the phone.

Indeed, the first digit is the building number. In order to maintain a 4 digit room number structure, building 10 uses a zero as the first digit instead of a one and a zero, causing a 5 digit number.

I apologize in advance if this has been asked and I missed it. After all this thread is enourmous. By the time we arrive in May the thread may be bigger than the resort!

What I wanted to know is if a family of 3 (2 adults and 1 child) would ever be allowed (or if it would even be practical) to have a king bed and then bring in a roll away. We sleep on a king at home and a double is just sounding a little too cosy! (We love each other but I like my space while I sleep!)

never saw the king rooms but I would guess that would be doable since the 2 doubles fit . the beds are a little small..we have a queen at home and it seemed a lot smaller but am guessing they are regular double sized(?). or maybe cause we had a king a Vero Beach then went to a double it seemed littler

I don't think there would be a lot of room for a roll away in the king rooms. Now, the one we stayed in was with a roll-in shower and so the floor size may be different if there is a tub instead of the shower. But the king size bed had two bedside tables and not a lot of space on either side of the bed. There wasn't room to move the table and chairs over to the side of the bed in the room we were in, and sliding it up against the window opened up just enough space to put a wheelchair in between the table and the armoire.

A rollaway does fit in a king room, we'll be doing that at PC @ the end of this month, but it will be tight. You'll have to fold it up when not in use. There's plenty of room @ All Star Sports because you can move the beds, but I've heard @ PC the beds are not movable. Have a great vacation!! cathie

When I got stuck in a King room and needed a rollaway bed I was told at the front desk that Pop Century did not have rollaway beds. I would make sure you clarify this before you go.

I was in a King handicapped room and I think the rollaway would fit but it would probably be right next to the King. There wasnt a lot of room on either side of the King bed.

Pop Century DOES have roll-aways, however, there is a very very very limited amount, and cannot always be guaranteed.

They will fit just fine in a standard king bed room. It will fit (but will be tight) with the king bed accessible room.


As for wireless internet, I know it's popping up in a few select convention center resorts, but not yet at Pop.
