Did anyone find out where those pictures of the larger bedrooms came from on the wdwinfo page for pop century?

jojj

I have been waiting for someone to answer that question also .. Please does anyone know ?

I read in the original post that the room safe was big enough to fit a laptop. What are the dimensions of the room safe? I'd like to bring my laptop but am very unsure about it's safety.

I was concerned about some of our things also but put some in a drawer and some behind other junk in the shelves by the TV and I really do not think anyone bothered with them...however we *may* have just had a very honest cleaning person as the first day I left the tip just lying on the tv stand and it was still there when we got back! I called and told housekeeping but they didn't come and get it so afterwards I put it in the little "housekeeping" sign and they took it. usually I leave a note thanking them also but the little tablet was missing and I didn't have any paper ( could have used tp I guess;) !)

I know POP has connecting rooms (motel style) but I have also read that not all the rooms are connecting. Is this true? If so, how do I get a "non-connecting" room?

thanks

Another quick question..........On the Disboard pics of Pop Century, they show a King Room with a sofa. What kind of room is this and is the sofa a pull-out? I am staying for a few nights there with two of my kids and a King Bed/pull-out would work out better. I would much rather share a king with my "blanket hog" first grader! ;) Thanks!

Marymrg,

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like those first 3 pics on the wdwinfo site about Pop Century should not be there. I know for a fact those pictures are not of rooms at the Pop Century. Those are pictures of rooms at the Downtown Disney Hilton. I know, because I've stayed there several times, and know what those rooms look like, what the bedspread is, I recognize that apple lamp, the headboards, etc etc. That picture of the king bed with a sofa would be a small suite at the Hilton (maybe what they call a "business" or "deluxe" room), and the pictures with the two double beds would be a standard room at the Hilton. I have been in a king room at Pop Century, and they don't have sofas. There was, however plenty of room in those rooms, seemed very spacious with one king bed in there. Sorry to disappoint you though.

50% of all rooms at Pop Century feature a door on the inside of the room near the bathroom, that connects to the other room. It's actually a set of two doors, one on each room.

This of course means that 50% of our rooms do NOT feature the inside connecting doors, and instead just have a plain wall. This can be requested at time of check-in, however, it cannot be guaranteed.

Hi Tyler, we'll be back April 22, any root beer yet?;) When we met you we forgot to ask you where the Hidden Mickey on a POP sign you memtioned. We couldn't find it. Found the one in the bathroom in our room and the ones at the computer pool and the jukebox. What did we miss?

Thank you, Tyler, for all the great info on PC. It was very kind of you to take the time to help us all by answering so many of our questions!
I'll be there soon to meet up with my folks. We are all very excited! :D

Speaking of hidden Mickeys...I'm not sure these are "official" but we saw a few on the floor of the food court. I don't think most people notice them because they're always looking at all of the food choices!

Actually, you'll come across a lot of interesting things by just looking down a lot (which I've found to be true not just at PC but all over the World). As you enter the main doors to check in, make sure you look at the round plaque on the floor (in front of Everything Pop).

We are back, and we loved it. Everything that Tyler has said is absolutely true, the resort is wonderful, keeping in mind that it is a Value Resort, not a Deluxe. We stayed in a room 122, in the 70's building on the first floor. This was a problem when we sent some things back to the room and the clerk insisted on a 4 digit room number, I now understand since Tyler explained in his post that I should have actually included the 0 (0122 instead of 122), makes sense now.

We actually got to meet Tyler and he is as sweet and cute and nice as everyone has said. He was just getting off work, but stopped to talk to us anyway. He's also pretty tall and very blonde.

I really missed the monorails and boats from the Polynesian, but for the most part the busses were prompt and we really liked the idea of a que area to wait for busses. It was nice to know that those who waited the longest would be able to get on in order on the couple of occasions when the busses were full and we had to wait for a second bus to (very quickly) arrive. We were able to see and do everything we wanted to do in 5 days, and that was alot.

I remember reading a post from Webmaster Pete before I left asking for those who had stayed at Pop to fill in a survey, but I haven't been able to find it yet... any ideas?

I also am 99% certain that I ran into Dave from Passporter in the Everything Pop gift shop one evening late, but I didn't want to harrass him, so I didn't ask, now I'm kicking myself for being so shy.

Loved the food court, great selection... especially loved the Shrimp Lo-Mein. Every cast member we came in contact with was absolutely wonderful. Went the extra mile to be sure we had everything we wanted/needed. The one exception I would have to say would be Mousekeeping. We are pretty neat since it's just the 2 adults, so we didn't have any major needs, and we always leave a tip in our Mousekeeping envelope, our room was always clean when they left, with plenty of towels, so I only have one complaint. When we checked in we requested early cleaning as we planned to do EMH every day and come back to the room for rest in the early afternoon. When I called I asked if the room could be cleaned by 11am or as early as possible, he said "how about 10am?" I said that would be great. The first day we came back at 1:30 and it was not done, we called and they came while we went to walk around the resort. We left our usual "Mousekeeping" tip in the envelope. The next day we returned at 12pm and it was already done. On the third day we returned at 2pm and it was not done, again I called to request and she said that there was no note on the account. Very disappointing. All things considered we shouldn't even complain because everything else was so nice, but when you come back tired and cranky and ready for a nap, it's frustrating.

I didn't find the phones with e-mail ability near the phones in the main buildings, and I didn't bring a laptop, so no e-mail while I was there, but I survived.

The shower was kinda weird for us, never used a wheelchair accessable shower before, with the entire room being the shower, but I'm sure it would be nice for those in a chair. My DH suggested that maybe he could take care of all his usual AM routine at the same time while seated on the toilet to save time, I said that I didn't think this was a very good (or funny) idea.

Very spacious room for just the two of us with only the one bed. loved the lighting and decor and the table and chairs, and 2 nightstands, and the refrigerator.

That's all that comes to mind, any questions???

Just a few questions:

1. I'm a pin trader and I was wondering if there is a "pin station" or a section to purchase pins at Pop Century. Also are the CM's into trading pins (i.e wearing pin trading lanyards).

2. I've read reviews about the walls being on the thin side in the guest rooms. I've read stories about guests hearing conversations of people next door, and the sound of water running and toilet flushes. Please say it ain't so

3. About check in I've read about 40min check-in waits  how true is this?

This thread has been fantastic.

Thanks,

Swamp Fox

there is a pin cart outside but it was always closed when we wen t in the evening post epcot so not sure how late it its open.

we checked in at about 8 on a Friday night with maybe a 5-10 min wait

never heard any toilets or converstations ( heard lots of them when we were at Vero Beach so the insulation must be better at POp) but did hear kids ( at least I hope it was kids :) !)running up and down the "hallway" or someplace above us.
