Going to the parks using the Disney's bus. We have a couple of tours booked at Epcot and MK first thing in the morning and want to be in plenty of time. I read that going to some parks can take up to 20-25 mins.

Candleshoe,

We're checing in Friday am and have requested 70's building, that's where we stayed in January and really liked it. Maybe we'll be neighbors, because you never know where a vacancy will be.

That would be cool! :) We're a family of three here.

(I haven't been able to get back to the board since I posted.
Not enough time in a day!)

Hi, Sherry!

When you get to the POP go ahead and check-in (unless you want to have a look at the 50's and 70's locations first), even if it's early they will check you in and you never know, a room might be available!

Hope you enjoy the POP!:sunny: :wave2:
Christine

Thanks!!

That's sort of what we want to do is look around :) Maybe we can stop in at the desk, say hi, drop off our luggage, take a short stroll and then check in. I also would like to see the double beds first before requesting a king. :/ though that's not possible. DH & I are both over 6' tall. We'll probably just put DD on the floor (I'm packing a blowup mattress for her) and each take a bed to sleep in diagonally.

But I also read somewhere in this massive missive or another, that the double beds are "magically" longer ;) So they may work just fine!

I would like to know how early the buses start to the parks? I have a ressie at CRT one morning at 8:30 and she said be there 45min before your time. Thanks.

We are too! We called periodically throughout the months before we left and made sure that it was noted on our reservation. We also called the day before check-in and then again mentioned it when we checked in. No such luck- we got two doubles. We slept in separate beds most nights, it was a pretty tight squeeze. We were 'ok' in the same bed, it just wasn't ideal. Good Luck!!

Personally, I'm 6'2", and I had no problems with the double beds.

Does anybody know roughly how long it takes to get from Pop to each park so we plan our time in the morning?

Buses run approx every 15 minutes, and it takes no more than 15 minutes to get to any park.

If you have a tour booked, or a priority seating, Disney does recommend being out at that bus stop 45 mins prior to it. This will allow for 15 minutes wait time in case you just missed the bus, 15 minutes for travel time, and 15 minutes for walk time and/or Murphy's Law time. (Yes, Murphy loves to vacation at Disney)

Phabric - We just returned from POP a couple weeks ago - so, maybe I can answer your question. We found the POP buses to be really efficient (they don't share with any other resorts.)

Buses to the following places had the following ride times:

MK: 12 minutes
Epcot: 5 minutes
MGM: 6 minutes
AK: can't remember this one for some reason! It was around 10 minutes or less, though - this bus also makes a stop at Blizzard Beach certain times of the day.

Keep in mind these are ride times - not counting any wait time for the buses. We usually got on a bus right away, or after only a few minutes.

insmom - We were always able to catch a bus to our morning PS's. We even made Chef Mickey's at 7 am - just hopped the MK bus & he took us directly to the Contemporary. (We told the bus driver where we were going.) The buses always seemed to be running by 6:30 am or so. Because of the sometimes long-line for the CRT check-in, I'd say the advice to be at the bus stop by 7:45 am is probably good.

HTH! :)

Although those directions will work, there is a quicker and easier route. Stay on 417 one more exit, to exit 5 (?), and exit onto the Osceola Parkway Westbound. Take a right onto the Parkway, and you will go under the Walt Disney World arches. Take a right onto Victory Way, and then another right into Pop Century.

Ah, but Tyler, did you sleep with another Tall person? That's the question!!

;)

I do think we'll be able to manage with a bed each, it's just putting two of us in a bed that I worry about.

SRUAlmn, thanks for that info! That's pretty much what i thought. Add'ly we're both larger (2x t-shirt sized).

I'm so excited I can't contain it!! I'm playing hookie today -- w/permission -- and finishing up our costumes and I think I'll pack. LOL. I *planned* on being packed by October 1st but *that* didn't happen!

Arizonacolbys: thanks for the info on the buses. I am so excited about going and having fun in Mikeyland!!! Thanks again.

I'm so excited about our trip after reading through this thread! This resort sounds great! I had originally wanted ASMo, but my travel agent couldn't get it. I'm glad now that we are here. We have a preferred room, and the 60's looks really cool. Any pointers or knowledge about this area would be greatly appreciated. We are going the week of Thanksgiving. I know it will be crowded, but will it be as bad as July? At least the heat will be better. Will it be warm enough to swim? Are the pools heated?

POP is fun and I hope you truly enjoy every moment!

When we were at Disney several years ago for Thanksgiving it was about 80 every day. Perfect weather! Tyler might know more about weather right now..or go to www.orlandoweather.com and check out the stats. Or www.weather.com

Either of those will tell you what it was last yr and the averages for each month!

If you find the Food Court too noisy, you can carry your food over to the Lounge area where it's usually much quieter. It's an open area, not enclosed so children can sit there too - but most families are found right near the food court.

Check out the tie die (sp) cheesecake!!

Oh, you are going to have so much fun!!! Pools are heated. :)

The Pop Century Resort Presentation off of my Resorts Page in my sig had 7,000 views in the last month. . .

I couldn't find this, which one do I choose on his sig? I'm anxious for more pics and info!!

I tried the link but I couldn't open the pictures. Just a black screen and a little flicker of white when I clicked on a choice. What do I need to download? Thanks!

You shouldn't need to download anything.

This is bandwidth intensive. The entire presentation is 17MB. Are you using dialup, or cable/DSL? I just checked the site. Everything reports fine. I went in and looked at some of the presentations. They all came up.

http://haysllc.com/Disneyworld/Resorts
is the menu for all of my resort presentations

The top 5 most popular resort presentations this month are:
1) Pop Century (by far! 2229 views in October alone)
2) Boardwalk
3) Animal Kingdom
4) Caribbean Beach
5) Beach Club

Hi :wave2: ,

I tried the link again too and it came up fine, but I have something new by my cable co. they say it's faster than dsl, so I might not be a good test.

Love those pages, though, Stephen...I look at them whenever I need a Disney fix...thanks again!
