She did say it was Fiji-1st floor-facing marina. We had booked Garden View with an AP discount.

I'll report back on the room and resort on Monday, as I won't be taking a computer back to the hotel when we get our room this afternoon.

George

Thanks, George! We requested Fiji 3rd floor marina, and the gal I spoke with yesterday told me Fiji marina side was LV. I didn't think that was right. :confused3

Have a wonderful time!! :goodvibes

stefy - when we stayed at the Poly two years ago, we didn't specifically request anything. We paid for the MK view, but that was it. And the location was lovely. The only thing I would have requested in hindsight would have been a ground floor room because our kids spent several hours playing in the field of grass right in front of the longhouse and it would have been nice to be on the first floor for easier access and bathroom breaks. We were in Aotearoa and had a clear view of Wishes and the EWP from our balcony.

That longhouse has a great view of Wishes!!! We stayed there a few years back...ground floor. It was great! I loved watching the people going to the luau too-kids playing on the grass too. Actually, ours was a GV but it had a bush near the walkway-it didn't interfere at all with the castle view. We walked by there a few weeks ago & noticed how high that bush has actually grown!!!!

Does anyone have his name? It is not a bad reason I need to call, it is a good!

I have a question for all of you Poly experts! I'm looking for opinions on if it's faster/easier if your building is close to the TTC to take the buses from there instead of the GCH.
Also, I requested a building close to the TTC because I'm participating in the marathon weekend and want to just be able to take the monorail straight to Epcot but also was thinking should I maybe actually request a specific building? I know there are three over there that are fairly close. What do you guys think??
Thanks for the help! I'm a first timer for Poly!

Hi everyone!!!
We've booked the Poly from November 14th - 21st for our first family vacation!! I haven't been to WDW in, oh a decade or two. DH, DS and MIL have NEVER been!!!

Thanks to everyone who posted pictures and advice!! I'm learning a ton and am getting really excited for our vacay!!

Thanx for that, wish we could have upgraded to MKV or LV but it was an extra £1000 for a view, which I just cannot justify paying for.

We are enroute to MCO now and should be at the Poly around noonish. I'll report later our room assignment in Hawaii and our first impressions of our room and the lounge.

If you want to be close to TTC, the two buildings nearest would be Tahiti or Rapa Nui with Tahiti being my personal choice.

As to whether it is faster to take a bus from TTC to AK or DHS, that is up for debate. We did it once to DHS out of necessity (we had to go to lost & found) and we had no wait for a bus.

Oftentimes at the Polynesian the wait for a bus seems longer. It really depends on if you arrive at the bus stop just after a bus has left or just as one is arriving that determines the length of your wait. I will say that the TTC bus was less crowded than the bus from the Polynesian. When we depart DHS, we tend to take whichever bus is there first. Riding the TTC bus saves the stop at Contemporary or other resort which does shorten the ride.

In either event, the longhouses nearest the TTC are great choices and really not that far from anything else at the Resort. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to it! :cool1:

Have fun :)

O.k.! I called back for clarification regarding the Fiji marina side being GV or LV. I explained the previous confusion on our ressie request, so she said, "Let me pull up the buildings with LV and double check." Sure enough, Fiji was NOT on the list, so she added the marina side to our request for our GV ressie. :goodvibes

So glad you called back and got that sorted out! Good luck with getting your request when your vacation comes! :wizard:

:rotfl: Another example of how people on these boards know more than some of the CMs at CRO... Sorry you had to call them and go through that awful voice-maze twice, but I'm happy for you that you have the right request in now! I hope you get it!:goodvibes

I'm making a screensaver in anticipation for our next trip "home" next year and was wondering if anyone has a picture of the sign at the airport for Disney's Magical Express to the Polynesian? I never thought to take it myself, but would like one for the screensaver

Thanks in advance.

We stayed on the marina side of Fiji June 2008 (booked GV) and loved it. We had 3rd floor with the balcony which was beautiful!

I have stayed in FiJi 2 of 3times (1st time on GF side, 1st floor) with no regrets and would stay there agin next trip (hopefully next year).

I can totally understand that, it's such a huge difference in price. I thought the MK view was nice, but I'm trying to talk my husband into GV, because I want to stay CL and the LV price for that is so much higher. I think the GV rooms look very relaxing and gorgeous.

Well good luck :thumbsup2 Hopefully he will go for it :)

I am thinking of either taking a chance and just requesting a room with a balcony or going for Aotearoa or Tuvalu :)
