So at 6 days out from our long-dreamt-about stay at the Poly, I managed to slip in the shower and fracture my cheekbone! And all I could think about (until I could get in to see the surgeon) was "I will be absolutely sick if I have to cancel my trip!"

It's all good though - as the good doc scheduled me for surgery on Thursday and cleared me to vacation as planned (rollercoasters included)! whew! I will, however, be limited to a soft food diet. Dole Whips, Pina Colavas, and Pineapple Macadamia Nut pancakes are all soft foods, right? :)

Let the countdown continue!

Ouch! I hope your surgery goes well and you are able to enjoy your trip. Feel well soon. :flower3:
On the bright side, what a fantastic excuse to spend your trip consuming dole whips, pina colavas and PMN pancakes!! :thumbsup2

Oh My Goodness..I thought I was the "something bad always happens to me" girl right before our trips. Right before our 2005 trip, like 2 days prior, i found out i had Graves Disease (a thyroid problem). It was acute and i had trouble just taking two steps without being out of breath. I went anyway but ended up leaving early. I think it was just a bad year as Katrina hit 3 months later.:scared1: I really hope you have a speedy recovery.

Pugsley - I am SO SORRY! So you're having surgery 2 days before you leave? :scared: Oh my - you're a brave one. I had a panic situation 2 weeks before our Sept.'08 trip ... MAJOR toothache! Had my teeth cleaned on Wed. and on Thurs. a major infection set in. And ... as luck would have it ... my dentist was out of town for the weekend. Pain was so bad by Sunday had to go to the emergency room for pain pills! Dentist saw me on Monday; gave me "super antibiotics" and all was well in 2-3 days. THEN Hurricane Ike zeroed in on Houston/Galveston area but that's another story. My point is hang in there; take your meds; get all your packing done BEFORE surgery and rest until it's time to leave. Once you get to the Happiest Place on Earth you'll forget all but experiencing the magic! GOOD LUCK! :cheer2:

I'm curiuos -- is it really necessaryto have reservations if you want to go to lunch at Kona? We plan to come back to the resort in the afternoons for downtime (and hopefully NAPS for the girls) and I have visions of being able to just have a quick bite in Kona for lunch. Is this possible to do on the fly like that or do you really need to have ressies??

And how is Captain Cooks? Menu looks very limited but that pork sandwich sounds amazing. Any other recommendations for lunch items either at CCs or Kona???

THANKS!

Shouldn't need reservations for mid-day lunch. I would have breakfast around 10 and was always seated right away. You SHOULD make reservations if you're planning on dinner there though. I absolutely LOVED the Aloha Pork Sandwich at CC and the Polynesian chips are "to die for"! On our last trip my DH was unable to join us (emergency with his job) for the first 3 days of our trip. I'd get my lunch and go back to our room and enjoy a quiet meal on the patio. A REAL treat ... having a quiet lunch (was there with DD and her family and it was nice to "take a break" from the granddaughters)!

Great pics! Thanks for sharing

I couldn't get my iTouch to work on the docking station. It was probably just me though, lol

Thanks! The first week, as you know, was great--the second was a grin and bear it. . .

We couldn't get our docking station to work either and the clock face wouldn't illluminate. We asked about it at the CL desk. Housekeeping took a look at it and something or other was unplugged accidentally during cleaning. After that, everything worked as it should.

Now I don't feel quite as bad about my wait now. I saw your ticker said 3 years and something, and I only have 1 year and 6 months. So, I need to stop whining.

Well don't feel bad! Just gives you mroe time to PREPARE! My ticker started out at 1 yr 7mos and now I'm down to just (haha "JUST") 6 mos left!

My husband also had to plug something into the clock in our room to get the face to illiminate.

We found tables easily for our 2 lunches at CC. I needed assistance modifying my cheeseburger order on the touch screen to omit cheese. The cashier didn't know how to do it either but she called the manager over who was very kind, took care of us and told me not to feel bad as the kids do much better with the touch screens than the adults. That same manager also helped us out spending our remaining QS credits on food that could be carried on the plane for dinner on our way home. The snack shop at the poly now has extremely limited items that they allow for DDP snacks. A box of cookies to go is no longer an option there. Only stuff like certain lollipops, Pez and small candy bars. Other places in the parks were still offering a wide range of snacks.

Finding a tiny table for 4 at 11:15 am in the rain in the MK at Ray's Starlight Cafe was a difficult task but managed.

My husband & I will take diuretics on our next trip to WDW. Most of the food was way oversalted for our normally lower salt diets. I would have enjoyed my pulled pork sandwich at CC better if it had less sauce & salt. Our granddaughters had no trouble with Disney's use of salt. The one exception to the salt issue for us was at Boma in AKL. I tasted dozens of items and loved all but one. They prepared with a perfect blend of herbs, spices & flavorings for me.

Surprisingly - the burgers are quite good at CC.
My fave though, is the Adult Grilled Cheese.

6 months will be here before you know it. Do you have everything planned?

THAT'S what I was talkin' about in my earlier post! What's in that thing? It rules!:worship::worship::worship::worship:

Pugsley, I hope you are on the mend soon, and glad you will still be able to enjoy your vacation! My daughter developed (and still is battling) a chronic cough about a week before our vacation and she didn't sleep for seven nights, but we still enjoyed ourselves anyway because we were in the happiest place on earth...and at the most beautiful resort one earth to top it all off. If you are feeling yucky from your surgery, you picked a great place to stay and relax and get pampered :)

Thanks to everyone for their speedy-recovery wishes! I'm just ready to be pain-free and have my toes in the sand! And you're right - I can't think of a better place to recuperate than the Poly (if it turns out I need some down-time, that is).

A question for all of you Poly pros. If I go ahead and book a GV room for the week Dec 5-10 2010, how hard would it be to upgrade that room to a GV CL if I realize that 3 months before we leave we have the money to do so?

I think it may be easier to do it in reverse order i.e. book GV CL now and if you do not have the funding drop down to non-cl before your final payment is due. As there are more non-club level rooms than club level rooms it may increase your chances in the event you wish to make a change. Of course this locks you into club level if poly gets sold out at plain GV level:confused3..tough call
