The *ALL NEW* Polynesian Resort FAQ thread - *APRIL 2009*

It didn't work in April when we stayed at the Poly. The CMs I asked said they didn't know anything about it.
I remember being there when my family and I stayed at the Polynesian in December 2007.
Maybe it was available for a short time then.
It is funny how the channels vary from resort to resort. This year we were able to get the cartoon loop at the Polynesian and BCV but not AKV. I think we were able to get it at the GF, too.

Ok, so I guess we're back to hoping for our request for Tahiti and that the Tahiti beach speakers are working and cranked?! :rotfl:
Either way I'm sure it will be fantastic & we can't wait!

BreezysMom, I couldn't help but notice that adorable Halloween bag your DD is holding in your signature pic. Did you make that or were they available at MK? I might just have to whip up a couple of those (like I don't have enough to do! :rotfl: )

We watched Wishes from our balcony in the Hawaii building without being able to hear the music. It was still wonderful, and nobody in my family chose to go watch from the beach or the lounge so that we could hear the music. It was just so nice not to be in a crowd -- and it was a very magical experience.:cloud9:

:banana:We are booked for March 2010. It is our 1st time to stay in a delux. I hope it will be the best choice. We have 2 rooms Garden view for my dh and I and my dd her dh ds [7yr] and dd [7mon]. Should I request anything special or are all the rooms nice? I have a T.A. but I can get her to add a request. I know they are not gaurenteed but with the baby I didn't know if a certain longhouse was best. Thanks:surfweb:

Were you able to get rates for March already or you just booked the room at full rate and they will adjust it once the rates are announced? We keep contemplating if we should wait till Feb or March to go (instead of Dec) but I didn't think rates wrere out yet and obviously that's going to be a deciding factor. :thumbsup2

My T. A. e-mailed me and said they were able to book the rooms then adjust with 2010 rates and also add the package. I was sooo ready to get started but went with the garden view. I am hoping they don't go up too much or I might have to change to a moderate.

We bought it at the Poly at Trader Jacks in 2007. DD loves the bag and has used it every year since we got it. I beleive it was about $10. Here is a close up if you want to try and make something similar.

Maybe it was however when it comes to the classic cartoon channel which is channel 96, you think all the resorts should have it since the channel listings are exactly the same. Although when it comes to the classic cartoon channel others have posted they needed to press 96, where as others can just do channel up or down if they wanted to. So for those who didn't see it while changing the channel maybe they needed to press the numbers on the remote.

Thanks for the close-up!:thumbsup2
Looks easy enough to duplicate. Of course now I just have to find the time between my obsessive planning, making trip journals for the girls, everyone's Halloween costumes, oh and all the real life stuff that I guess I should take care of. :rotfl:

Hi Poly Lovers!

I have a very ODD favor request.

This September, I am going to surprise my son for his 10th birthday...and I am hoping one of you Poly lovers might be able to help me out.

I will be flying down with him a week before our stay at the Poly and enjoying a "mom and me" birthday trip at the BWI with him. After a week of us having fun together, I am going to surprise him with his brothers and dad showing up for a surprise extra week of vacation at the Poly.

Here is where my odd favor request comes in. Do any of you know the grounds of the Poly well enough to help me come up with clues for a 'scavenger hunt' or 'treasure hunt' type activity? My fingers are crossed that someone might be willing and able to help a fellow DISer out. :flower3:

In my mind, his brothers/dad are at the end of his hunt (he will be SO excited to know he will then have an additional week with them at WDW). I am hoping to have a handful of clues that lead him around the resort by way of telling him to head from place to place/thing to thing that he can see which will eventually lead us back to our room (where his dad/brothers will have 'magically' appeared) or to the beach (where they will meet us) or to the ??? for the big surprise.

I know this might be one of the most strange questions about the Poly yet. Please feel free to PM me with any information, suggestions of who to ask, where to look for the info or any other way to get the needed information.

:flower3: THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!:flower3:

Oh my goodness! This sounds like so much fun! :) How many clues do you want him to find before he gets to the rest of your family? I'll try out one with like...6 clues and give it to you with a poly map :) No need to actually use it but it might help you with ideas.

1. Hide and seek, let your adventure begin! If you can find these silly tikis you surely will win!

LOCATION: Boutiki gift shop (there are tiki's playing hide and seek in the store windows near the cash register)

2. Aloha means Hello. Mahalo means Thank you. Can you find the place that means "family" in Hawaiian?

LOCATION: Ohana

3. Second star to the right and straight on till morning! Where can you find Peter Pan and all his friends?

LOCATION: The Neverland Club

4. You are getting closer! These features usually contain lava, but this one is full of water!

LOCATION: Volcano Pool

5. Captain Jack....Captain Hook....where can you find another famous Captain?

LOCATION: Captain Cook's

6. This is our nation's 50th state. Go there and head to the beach for your prize!

LOCATION: Beach in front of Hawaii longhouse, where your family can be waiting! :goodvibes

Let me know what you think!

WOW!! That is perfect! We are actually staying in the Hawii longhouse (club level) so it will be a great way to end up a search.

You are SO creative!!! Why didn't I think of those?! They are great! I knew I could count on a wonderful DISer for some help! Dh said I was crazy to even ask! :):):) I just proved the power of the DIS! And how awesome my fellow DISers are! :)

Thank you again! If you have any more I would love to hear them!

Your list has my brain fired up. I am thinking now of small treats to hand him at each place with the next little note. OH MY, this will be the best.

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

:goodvibes I'm so happy you like them!! Hmm...little gifts....how about a lei at boutiki, something lilo and stitch at ohana, something peter pan at the neverland club...does he like coconut? they have great chocolate dipped coconut mickey candies you could give him at hawaii?

I LOVE these kinds of things :cloud9: they are so fun. It helps that the Poly is my favorite deluxe and I spend a lot of time there.

Well, we are putting the bags in the car for the morning trip to the airport. I thought I log on and thank everyone on Dis, in particular the Poly thread group. I don't post all that much but I have been reading the thread since I booked the trip a few months ago and it has been great. Thanks to all for helping me plan a wonderful trip. I will try to post a little while I am down there.:banana::cheer2::cheer2::cool1::cool1:

:banana:Woo HOO:banana:! We just added Friday night at POFQ so we can arrive at the Poly earrrrrrrly Sat morning for our stay. We're driving :drive:down from SC so why waste our first day driving!

I'm guessing it's OK to show up early at CL so we can hit the lounge and parks runnin. (And I said I was going to relax and go slow this trip).

I had to tell someone and thought my 'family' would understand! (Even my DW rolled her eyes:duck:).
