For the first time ever, we booked the GF to stay in Surgar Loaf. :cool1:We were upgraded last time to Surgar Loaf and now we are spoiled. Here is my questions. :confused:I remember reading somewhere that the concierge can make your dining reservations for you if you are staying in a concierge building. Is this true? How does this work? Who do you call? Do you provide that person with your requests for restaurants and times? Any information that can be provided would be very helpful. Thanks!

The last time I stayed in the SL building we had a marina view but we could see the fireworks from our balcony. It was fantastic! I think a courtyard or marina view (if you can see the FW which I don't know if that is true of all of them) would be awesome :goodvibes

The rooms have the iHome systems so bring your tunes! I'm heading there tomorrow as well. Have you packed your long underwear???:scared1:

We're bringing our winter coats and I actually went out today and bought the kids all new hats and gloves. Last month, I had been thinking I should be buying them new bathing suits for the trip, I never thought I would be buying cold gear! Hopefully it will really warm up at the end of the week. Thanks for the answer! Maybe I'll see you...We're staying at Sugarloaf and it's me and my husband and 3 little girls. My name is Carolyn, say hi if you think it's me!

We're heading to SL at the GF on 1/22-1/29 and I've been keeping my eye on the weather. Luckily it looks like it's going to start warming up next week. Instead of highs in the 40's, its back to highs in the 70's.

We're coming from Michigan and actually don't mind "cool" weather so we'll be fine as long as it's in the 50's and 60's. People think I'm crazy when we tell them that we'd prefer the 60's to 80's and 50's to 90's if given the choice.

How wonderful you are staying SL again! :goodvibes Yes, the Itinerary Planning Office (IPO) will make your dining reservations or any other reservations for tours, fireworks cruises, cabanas, etc. I always send an email with my confirmation number and a list of my requests. I do include the times I would like and they are always made within 10 minutes of my requested time. Here is the info:

I just took a break from packing and I'm going a little nuts. I've never had to pack like this before! I sure hope it warms up later in the week. We are staying in the main building and I will be with my DH and older teen DS and DD. I'll look for you!:hippie:

I like 60s and 70s but 29 in Orlando is just plain wrong!

bailman Hope that you and your family have a grand time too!

MommyGina YAY:yay: for booking SL...we love it there too! The IPO at the GF is very helpful...makes planning a breeze!

LJD That is a great pic...I love that view! :cloud9:

Hi Princess P!!! :)

Just booked SL today and have been doing research on this thread. I came across photos of corner rooms and they seem bigger. Can a corner room be requested at SL?

TIA :goodvibes

We had a corner room in Conch Key last trip. I don't think it was any larger....really pretty certain. It was painted though...no wallpaper in the room itself although the bathroom was papered as I recall. Anyway, I can imagine that would make the room appear larger in a photo.

I don't see why you couldn't request corner room if you want though.

minniesota, have a perfect RPC vacation. There is sleet and snow in the area right now. Amazing. None here at BCV but sleet in Clermont and the news is showing bits of snow here and there.

Does anyone know if any the deluxe rooms (2 queens) in the main building have a theme park view? I would really like to have a nice view. I am thinking of planning a trip for 12/2010 or 01/2011 and DH really wants to stay in a room with a little more room. We really cannot afford a suite, but can swing the deluxe room. Also, are these hard to reserve? We will either be there for Christmas thru New Years Day or the week following MLK b-day (DS4 bday is Jan 18th). I know Jan will be cheaper, but we have only been at Christmas and really cannot imagine going at any other time. Also, I am unsure about pulling the kids out of school, even though they go to a private school and they are fairly lenient on kids being pulled out for vacation, especially WDW!!! DS10 had a teacher last year that actually ENCOURAGED WDW trips because she loves it so much. Anyway, any help is appreciated.

Offsite July 1978, celebrated 4th of July and my 4th birthday (I'm a firecracker baby!)

Thank you Minniesota for the information. I just called and put in my requests for the dining reservations. We loved SL last year because of my children not having to wander outside at night for a snack or drink. I also like the fact that it is a secure building and you can only access it by having your card keyed that you are staying in the bulding. We are so excited to be going back again. Only 190 more days!!! Again, thank you for the information.

When does IPO usually contact you? I upgraded our reservation yesterday to SL for August. Our ADR date is in February. Should I contact them?

Also, I'm still torn betweeen SL and RPC. What are the big differences?

Native NYer - you can submit your dining requests now. I called the IPO today for my trip in July. I am still over a week away for my 180 days to make dining requests, but the concierge took them and will complete the reservations at the 180 day mark.

I never stayed in RPC, but I have stayed in SL. The food I hear is the same. The convenience of the main building and views are probably the only difference and the price too from PRC and SL.

Do you know if lodge tower rooms in SL have balconies? I'd like to make a request, but really want a balcony also.

Native NYer The biggest difference between RPC and SL is that RPC is in the main building with a very large lounge area( or areas I think..) which also allows you to hear the pianist and orchestra playig in the lobby and in general has more ambience than the lounge in SL...all of the food offerings and ammenities are the same...that being said though..Iam a big fan of SL..I love where the lodge is located..the convenience of the courtyard pool being so close and that it is right between the boat dock and the monorail station...and having the lounge in the lobby makes it super easy to grab a beverage or snack when coming or going...

There are three lodge tower rooms in SL...they are by request only..and the only one that does NOT have a balcony is the one on the forth floor...

I always contact IPO..send them my ADR requests in advance...and they take care of everything and then email me the itinerary...so nice and easy..a greap perk of staying CL IMO...

BCV Are you on another disney trip!!?? How cold is it..Hope that yuo are having a nice trip anyway:goodvibes

I think I may stick with SL. Since I'm bringing my two nephews who love the water, being near the pool will be a plus.

I'll request either a 2nd or 3rd floor lodge tower room. Are the balconies as large as the standard rooms? I wonder how difficult it is to get one of these rooms.

The IPO is one of the main reasons we're booking CL. I do not want to have to worry about ADRs, cabana, or specialty cruise reservations.

Woo! Just found this thread and I'm excited...we MIGHT be staying at GF in May for a week or so, it's between this and Poly now. :yay: This is a great info thread!

I was wondering which building we should request if we wanted to be close to the monorail, and what kinds of views are offered at that particular building? Any theme park views? :goodvibes
