A big "Thanks!" to Katepass72, WDWKook & CR Resort Fan 4 Life for the opinions on CR Tower vs. Garden Wing. Y'all made some very good points for both....many of which I hadn't considered. I think I'm going to keep our current reservation in the tower...at least for now. It sounds like the tower has the conveniences that will work best for us. And DS (& DH for that matter) will most likely want to be able to see the monorail coming in & out as much as possible. They both love the monorail. Now, I just need to keep reminding myself NOT to change! :lmao: Thanks again for all the help!
A big "you're welcome" right back at you. Just get a nice big ol' ticker made-up with "CR TOWER" in the title and then you won't want to change. It's a sign of commitment;)

Okay, I'm going to let my "crazy" flag fly here: You wanna know why I haven't put up a ticker for our trip next year? Because I'm afraid that if I put up the ticker for all to see some misfortune will blow our way & I'll have to cancel our trip. I normally wouldn't be so paranoid but I'm super-excited about our trip for Oct. 2012. I think all 3 of us will LOVE staying at CR. And I have been DYING to go to WDW during F&W & for MNSSHP. I don't want to jinx us! :rotfl: Yes, I know, there's medication for people like me! :lmao:

You're welcome and I am sure you will have a great time staying there.

We are a few weeks from checking in to the CR, garden wing. I have been looking longingly at the tower all week wondering if I should upgrade for our anniversary ... still toying with it.

If you can do it, I would say you should since it's your anniversary. And, besides, if you feel like switching now, just imagine how much you'll feel like switching when you arrive and are actually in the Tower checking in;)

Too much, I know! But then I wonder how much that $500 would be better spent at the Food & Wine Expo, shopping in the countries, or a D&B disney bag.....

I am not this indecisive normally!

:rotfl2:
$500 divided by how many days? How much more per night would it be? I like looking at it from that angle.

If you are able to find a room available and have been considering it I say go ahead.

I found this story interesting thought others might to if they had not heard it before.

Yes, the Tempo Bay Resort Hotel was even featured in some preview materials such as postcards. But, when the Resort was completed, the name as we have come to know it was applied. There are differing reasons out there as to why Tempo Bay never stuck - it was too similar to Tampa Bay, it didn't best reflect the resort's style. The Tempo Bay was being described by I believe, Roy Disney as "Disney's most contemporary resort," and so a new name was born.

Thanks, Sheila for posting the link to the lovely CR photo and Tempo Bay reference:)

Here's another link to old postcards and Tempo Bay "history":

Yeah, it's the CR in May!

What room type did you book?

Booked a garden view for now; if room-only discounts come out, will probably try to bump up to tower. Either way, excited to head back! It's a 40th b-day trip for me so I figured I'll celebrate as if I was a kid (along with my own kids and sister :))

I'll do a full review when I return, but I just wanted to drop in and say how much I am loving Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary. It was never on my must-do hotel list since the theme never appealed to me, but in my quest to stay at every Disney resort, when a great rate came out for BLT, I nabbed it. Every employee I've encountered has been the ideal of Disney friendliness. The room is spotless the view of Bay Lake is just so serene. And the location!

Oh...and I kind of LOVE the theme ;)

Then you've got to go to Chef Mickey's with your kids and sister and be sure to wear your birthday button;).

Have a great trip!

Terrific! I'm glad you're having a great time and the CMs are friendly and the room clean. Thanks for checking-in with us and we look forward to your TR when you get back home.

It's great you are enjoying staying there and keep having a great time at WDW.

Hey Contemporary fans. We arrived at the Contemporary today. Had a standard garden view room booked. Got to the room, #6224 and it's like a villa. 2 bathrooms, 2 fridges, 1 king size bed, 3 pull out couches. There's only 3 of us so this feels awesome. I guess we got upgraded. Also, my iPhone and iPad are receiving the guest wifi signal from the lobby. Everything is perfect.
