Earlier today just for fun I checked the Annual Pass rate from 12/08/11 - 12/22/11 which are the days I will be staying at the Boardwalk Inn and I wanted to see what was available at the Contemporary. Well to my surprise all the room categories were 100% sold out for those specifc dates with the Annual Pass rate.

Yes, the Tempo Bay Resort Hotel was even featured in some preview materials such as postcards. But, when the Resort was completed, the name as we have come to know it was applied. There are differing reasons out there as to why Tempo Bay never stuck - it was too similar to Tampa Bay, it didn't best reflect the resort's style. The Tempo Bay was being described by I believe, Roy Disney as "Disney's most contemporary resort," and so a new name was born.

Thanks, Sheila for posting the link to the lovely CR photo and Tempo Bay reference:)

Here's another link to old postcards and Tempo Bay "history":

KOOK - Your quite welcome and TY for the link about the post cards, very interesting article, especially since I use to collect old post cards. I was afraid DH would be sad maybe about not staying at WL but he is fine better than fine, I caught him watching a Modern Marvels show about WDW and the building of CR was covered in the show. :)

Hey Contemporary fans. We arrived at the Contemporary today. Had a standard garden view room booked. Got to the room, #6224 and it's like a villa. 2 bathrooms, 2 fridges, 1 king size bed, 3 pull out couches. There's only 3 of us so this feels awesome. I guess we got upgraded. Also, my iPhone and iPad are receiving the guest wifi signal from the lobby. Everything is perfect.

Wow awesome pixie dust on the upgrade!

Wow! Can't wait to see pics of the room, that is an awesome upgrade! My DH would be as excited with the free wifi than the more spacious room! Lol

Have a great trip!

Congrats on the upgrade! I assume this is one of the corner or L shaped rooms? Hope you're having a fabulous time!

Can anyone tell me if there are also "kid friendly" offerings in the CL lounges? Thanks!

They have uncrusted Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches and from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM they always have different types of Cheese. Besides that some of the afternoon snacks would include Cookies, Rice Krispy Bars, Cup Cakes or Brownies, which are some items also available from 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

:wave:916chipndale! Glad you stopped by and remember, it's never too soon to plan your WDW/CR vacation;)

I just booked my long overdue trip! I'll be staying 5 days in a Tower - Theme Park View room! :cool1: It's my first time staying there since the mid 1980s, and I can't wait. Does anyone know if you can see the EWP from that side of the hotel? I know you can see Seven Seas Lagoon, so I thought I might be able to see it when it stops at either the Poly or GF. Or is it too far away?

I have a Studio with a theme park view booked in Bay Lake Tower and I am now considering changing the reservation to a 1 Bedroom Lake view as it's only $100 more. I would love to hear opinions on this so I know whether or not to take the plunge. FYI, we are 2 adults and 2 kids (5 and 8). I would love the extra space, as the studio looks tiny. Thanks in advance!

OOOPPPS! It seemed too good to be true, so I checked again and realized that the one bedroom is $800 more (over 12 nights), not $100. Not sure how I arrived at $100???? Would it still be worth it?

I hope you have a great time and when the EWP is around the Magic Kingdom area of Seven Seas Lagoon is when you can see it from your room.

I hope no one minds, I'm going to copy and paste my post from the BLT rooms and views post.

I just returned from a short weekend getaway where I stayed using cash at BLT. Here's the pictures of my room & view! (And I added in some common areas to this post!)

My commentary on BLT and the room:
There was slight wear on the room, but honestly, I didn't notice it until I started looking for it based on comments I had read. The worst was a nick on the dresser. I travel a lot for work, so I've become really picky when it comes to hotels and this one I had no real complaints as far as cleanliness or wear & tear. I did have one issue with the toilet (it wasn't flushing correctly...and I'm a grown woman, I'm not sticking things down there that shouldn't be there!) So I called down to maintenance at 10pm, in less than 10 minutes I had 2 maintenance guys looking at the toilet and in another 10 minutes they had it fixed. I was shocked...I've stayed at places and had issues that never got resolved! The A/C worked great and it was quiet. As a matter of fact, I think it's one of the quietest hotels I've ever stayed at. The shower head was nice and high (I went by myself, but my Fiance is 6'2" and it's common complaint he has at hotels!) Every CM I encountered at the Contemporary at Bay Lake Towers was super friendly, everyone said hello, at check-in, there was a CM directing people to other open CM's to keep the line short...he also asked my name so when I was checking in he said "we have Ms. XXX checking in." It was a nice touch. The location was fantastic, I loved the view...even though I had a lake view and not MK! I loved this resort, I really can't express that enough!

Just wanted to comment based on our stay there last month. I didn't see any Uncrustables, but they had real bread and plastic cups of PB&J out. The afternoon snacks were always the same - cookies, homemade potato chips, goldfish, yogurt pretzels, gummi bears, and something else I don't remember (nuts maybe). The desserts varied daily and were excellent (our kids always stopped for a sample when we arrived back).

The more I think about it that's what I remember seeing when I last stayed on the Atrium Club floor in August 2010. I must have thought of the Uncrustables from a few years before that when they use to come in a package.
