I hope no one minds, I'm going to copy and paste my post from the BLT rooms and views post.

I just returned from a short weekend getaway where I stayed using cash at BLT. Here's the pictures of my room & view! (And I added in some common areas to this post!)

My commentary on BLT and the room:
There was slight wear on the room, but honestly, I didn't notice it until I started looking for it based on comments I had read. The worst was a nick on the dresser. I travel a lot for work, so I've become really picky when it comes to hotels and this one I had no real complaints as far as cleanliness or wear & tear. I did have one issue with the toilet (it wasn't flushing correctly...and I'm a grown woman, I'm not sticking things down there that shouldn't be there!) So I called down to maintenance at 10pm, in less than 10 minutes I had 2 maintenance guys looking at the toilet and in another 10 minutes they had it fixed. I was shocked...I've stayed at places and had issues that never got resolved! The A/C worked great and it was quiet. As a matter of fact, I think it's one of the quietest hotels I've ever stayed at. The shower head was nice and high (I went by myself, but my Fiance is 6'2" and it's common complaint he has at hotels!) Every CM I encountered at the Contemporary at Bay Lake Towers was super friendly, everyone said hello, at check-in, there was a CM directing people to other open CM's to keep the line short...he also asked my name so when I was checking in he said "we have Ms. XXX checking in." It was a nice touch. The location was fantastic, I loved the view...even though I had a lake view and not MK! I loved this resort, I really can't express that enough!
Thank you for the lovely photos and review. I'm glad you mentioned that the wear and tear (at least in your room) wasn't that bad since some have reported that it was an issue in their rooms.

I'm also glad that everyone you encountered was friendly and polite. Sounds like you'd return?

Just wanted to comment based on our stay there last month. I didn't see any Uncrustables, but they had real bread and plastic cups of PB&J out. The afternoon snacks were always the same - cookies, homemade potato chips, goldfish, yogurt pretzels, gummi bears, and something else I don't remember (nuts maybe). The desserts varied daily and were excellent (our kids always stopped for a sample when we arrived back).
Yes, there are nuts and pretzels, too. You and CRRF4L are correct about there not being any more Uncrustables. WL no longer has them either. Here are the PBJs they put out from 5-7 at the Atrium Club:

I don't have a picture of them but at the Boardwalk Inn Club Level lounge they are different then the Contemporary. Over there they are made into little rolls and everything is inside, so think of a Jelly Donut but a lot smaller. Also besides being put out from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM they are also made available a second time from 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

Before this I would have said that Port Orleans French Quarter was my favorite resort. Now, I think it's the Contemporary/BLT. If the price was equal (hah!), I'd stay at CR/BLT.

On the wear and tear: I specifically looked for it since others had complained about it. And I honestly wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't looking. And I truly didn't find anything that was complaint-worthy.

I think this is what you are looking for. Don't forget they put powdered sugar on them too.

This was the exact same thing we experienced. DD thought it was the best and the day we left Maggie packed up some snacks for DD and DS for the airplane (DD still talks about it)

Maggie was the best (well, tied with Carolyn). She was a real team player, too, managing to still be chipper at the end of a long day shift after having been there late the night before.

We are 3 days out from our first stay at the CR where we have a Tower TPV room reserved... :cool1: My DS still has no clue where we are going. He just thinks we're driving to the northeast coast of FL for the week, right past WDW. :rolleyes1 I can't wait to see his reaction when we pull up to the CR.

I purchased a new high zoom digital camera (Sony DSC-HX100V) for this trip after seeing this photo taken from atop the CR Tower:

It was posted by ejud last January in the DPOD thread here.

I promise to take and post lots of pictures.

mhconley,
I hope you all have a great time and wow what a great surprise that's going to be when you arrive at the Contemporary.

Those were out during snack time and not only after 5?:hyper: - those look delicious and quite an upgrade from the usual fishy crackers, cookies and nuts. Thank you for posting!

Your new Sony should be able to take fantastic shots of the MK and 7 Seas Lagoon and even ol' Discovery Island. Your son is going to be so suprised when you pull-up to the CR. Imagine the look on his face when he sees the monorail:goodvibes. Are you going to CM and taking some photos from CG?

Breakfast at 7:30 AM Sunday morning is at CM's - I thought it would be a good way to get in the spirit and to the 9:00 AM RD at MK. :thumbsup2

We also have a 7:40 PM dinner at CG booked. The last time we went our ADR was way too early for Wishes - this one should be perfect.

Perfect indeed! RD will be a lot easier to make since you can just walk right over to the MK.

Looking forward to your fancy photos and your TR, Martin. BTW, we once lived in SWFL - Key West;)

After reading this thread, I am really excited about our first stay at CR. We are booked for a Jan 2012 trip staying in the Garden Wing.

After reading on here about the patios for the first floor rooms, I was wondering if you can notice footsteps/sounds from the neighbors upstairs? I'm pretty sensitive to that kind of thing and usually try to stay on the top floor when possible, but if it's not an issue, I think my DD3 (who will be 4 at the time) will love being able to roam outside.

TIA!

We always ask for a "top floor" room wherever we stay, too and in all our stays at the CR, I have never heard anyone above us. We've even had a ground floor GV room once, and we never heard anyone above us. Now, I will say that I have heard neighbors through connecting doors, but we usually ask for a room w/o a connecting door. But, for some inexplicable reason, at the CR and only the CR, noise from neighbors has never been a problem, which is another reason I love the CR rooms.

Thanks so much!

Now, I just have to decide between the Garden Wing and the Tower, but it sounds like it is a win-win situation no matter what I decide!

Well, I have to say that we just LOVE the Tower's BLV and you're guaranteed a balcony. It's DH's favorite WDW room and view. Not that I'm trying to influence you or anything:rolleyes1

I think if I changed the reservation to the Tower, I'd have to go for the TPV... DD would love that to no end and so would I.

But, the economical part of me is the part that is causing problems!

I have read that if you ask to pay for an upgrade at check-in that it could completely change your reservation and you'd lose Free Dining (in my case). Is that really true? I thought I'd just see if a TPV room was available when we checked-in and that would make the decision for me... it's the wimpy way.

If you are able to try and take a lot of pictures so you can post them on here.

I plan to shoot tons... (The camera says the 8GB card will hold 1409 16MP photos. I promise not to post that many.)

This is my favorite from our 2008 trip. It was taken on the WL boat.

Now THAT'S SWFL - as SW as you can get and still be in FL. :rotfl: We're in Cape Coral.

Leaving next week for our first trip to Disney. We are staying at CR in the tower MK view. Is it worth calling to request an odd numbered room? Does it make a big difference? Any other requests that I should make? Thanks!

PS What a beautiful picture, Mhconley!
