Once you stay at CR, there is no other option. I have been a long time reader of the main post but finally had some time to do some 'light' reading. I don't know why I torture myself when 70 days out but reading about my favorite place in WDW just makes the waiting so much better.

Unfortunately, when they're booked 6 months in advance, you have no choice but to find another option:guilty:

Have a great stay in 70 days:)

Looks like we will be there around the same time as you. Our kids are really excited about the CR simply because the monorail goes right through the middle of the resort. I loved this resort as a child...so I hope my children will have the same great experience.

The Wave of American Flavors at Disney's Contemporary Resort has added a breakfast buffet.

For $18.49 guests can choose from standard breakfast fare including eggs (scrambled or omelets to order), grits, pancakes, bacon, creamy gravy, hash browns, quiche and more.

The cost is $10.99 for guests ages 3 to 9.
I was curious what the price would be so thanks for posting this.

They'll love it, too. You're going to have a great vacation.

After many years, I still love seeing the monorail gliding through the resort. There is no other resort like it.

BTW, are you still staying at FTW?

Since we only live 4 1/2 hours from WDW, we drive. Usually, we arrive late in the evening and stay at a value for the 1st night. Then, the next day, we get up really early and head to the other resort, check in and hit the parks. We have always wanted to try FTW, but not sure if we will really like it for an extended stay. We've become addicted to the deluxe resorts;) So...DH suggested that we stay there for a couple of nights before the CR. No parks...just relax, rent a golf cart, swim, fish, etc. We will see!!

Are you staying in one of the cabins? I think you'll have a great time at FW, taking it easy for a few days before heading to CR. Please report back about how you liked it!

We are staying in one of the cabins. Each trip to Disney, we always visit FW, walk around, let the kids plays, pet the animals, etc. It looks great!...very relaxing and laid back. I guess my biggest concern is the transportation. We spend so much time at MK...so one of the monorail resorts seems the obvious choice for us. And this time...the price of the CR couldn't be beat. Plus...the kids are about to die to stay in the "Monorail Hotel" (as they call it;)) When I get back, I plan on doing another TR with tons of pictures. I do really think the kids will really enjoy both resorts! Can't wait!

Thank you and Yeah, you are right, I was able to convince my DW back in August (only 1 month after our last visit :lmao:) so I made my ressie 10 months out (the ole 'we can cancel at any time'... yeah like I had any intentions of doing that) :rotfl:

I'm sure we'll bump into each in the elevator (that is simply awesome to be able to write )... which is exactly once of the reason why we just HAD to do it...if my kiddos are any indication, I know they will! :thumbsup2

Hello! New to the thread and to the world of CR, I have questions for the CR/BLT experts. :-)

We have a party of three adults, needing three beds. We want to be on the monorail, so we're considering a one-bedroom lake view at BLT. Does anyone have thoughts on whether that would be comfortable/reasonably quiet?

Also, I know that DVC points stays don't involve housekeeping, but we will have that if we're just paying per night, yes? Is there anything that housekeeping will or won't cover? (in case we run out of cups, dish detergent for example? if there's laundry detergent, does anyone know what kind?)

I noticed from the pictures that there's a sliding door/window thing with the master bath. We don't have little fingers to worry about, but does that close completely for privacy? I'd assume so but want to be sure.

Most importantly, though... am I (5'7", the shortest member of our party) going to be comfortable in a sleeper chair? How does that work, actually... sheets, pillows etc. provided? Can I request that the couch and chair be converted for us so I don't have to spend my first night figuring that out after a long drive?

Thanks so much for any insights or suggestions! :-)

We haven't actually stayed at Bay Lake Tower, however just incase you don't know this I wanted to mention to get on the Resort Monorail along with their bus/boat transportation options, location of the stores, check-in, ordering room service, Bell Service, Valet Parking and going to their restaurants, all of those things are located at the Contemporary and not at Bay Lake Tower. So you would either use the sky bridge that goes to the 4th floor of the Contemporary or walk in through their main entrance. The only things Bay Lake Tower has of their own is a pool, community hall, Top of The World Lounge (only available to DVC members staying on points) and a Community Hall.

You'll love BLT 1-Bdr!! I'm 5'6" and I was quite comfortable on the sleeper chair. In fact, I liked it better than the sofa bed 'cause it was slightly easier to "make up" although they were both quite easy and I'm "technologically challenged!!"

You'll get housekeeping every day so you won't "run out" of stuff. The only thing you might not get is hand lotion. It's not provided in the DVC rooms. I think the detergent was Tide.

You might want to read through the DVC Planning thread for more info on BLT and lots of pics of the different rooms. Have fun!!!! I'll be back in 169 days!

Hi CR Fan! Yes, I had figured that, thank you for confirming. Do you know how the parking lots are shared? I don't want to valet, I don't think, so I'm wondering how that will work.

Thanks for the thoughts WAWDW! I hadn't thought of checking for a DVC forum, great idea. I did find some more helpful pictures, including one of the sleeper chair pulled out. I'm glad to hear that I could survive on the chair. Hopefully we can figure out an arrangement that will work. And I will go ahead and bring my own bit of detergent, my skin does not like Tide for some reason. Very good to know!

I think what I may do is go ahead and book BLT for now, and if a discount code comes up I'll debate switching to two regular rooms if that's still an option. Seems like we'd win either way then. :-)

Both sets of parking lots in front of the Contemporary and in front of Bay Lake Tower are for guests staying at either location.

Question for the CR experts!! We are planning a trip for next this coming December. We have been to DW 2 times previously in Dec. Staying at CBR and CSR. We are considering a split stay this time and CR is one of about 5 resorts under serious consideration for part of this stay. My wife has always had her eye on CR and I'm leaning that way for that reason. I think I've read enough info over the past few years to know most of the plus/minus of CR, but my question is this:

For those who have stayed at CR recently and the other CR experts, does CR need refurbishing? When was it last refurbished? I've read a few recent reviews indicating its looking a little rundown for a deluxe resort and not what it used to be. I don't need to be sold on CR, I just want to be reasurred its still as nice always?

Thanks!

All the Contemporary rooms got renovated in 2006 and based on that I can't see their rooms beung rundown. Plus everytime we have stayed there since then our rooms have been 100% perfect.

Glad to hear that! How about the lobby and the rest of the resort?
Since then The Wave had replaced the Food & Fun Center, the Contempo Cafe replaced the Concourse Steakhouse, the arcade moved to the 4th floor, they re-opened the Fantasia store into a much bigger location and they added a kids splash play area right next to their main pool.

I agree with CR Resort Fan 4 Life.....the Contemporary Resort is just like its name implies!

Very very modern look and feel throughout the resort. Rooms are fantastic. Pool & outside areas are nice, lots of space and great landscaping.

Plus, you just can't beat looking at the monorail as it glides through the atrium every few minutes!

DW and I are going back in two weeks, for our second stay at the CR. We love it!

Check out the pictures on page 1 of this thread.

Enjoy!
