The front desk woman at POR was so very nice. I really wanted to stay in the main tower at CR but they didn't have a room. So was able to get me a room in the closest to the pool and the room was ready for us when we moved over at 10am.

Well I am sure you were happy to be in the Garden Wing just as long as you were back at the Contemporary.

We are taking the Magical Express for the first time in January. Approx. how long does it take to get to CR? How many stops at other resorts does it make? We are very excited , 11 nights

Wow, I didn't know that! Something to remember when I am there at the end of next week. Thanks!!
:santa:

You're welcome! Have you started packing yet? I hope you have a wonderful vacation!

I have to come here to report that I LOVE THE CONTEMPORARY. We were in Disney Oct 21-30. We were booked the entire stay at POR. We stayed at the CR 2 years ago and loved it. I booked POR as it was the 1st place we ever stayed when it was Dixie Landings. From the minute we arrived I knew it was a mistake. On day 3 we transferred to a garden wing room at CR. POR even drove us and our luggage.

The second I stepped into the lobby I knew we were where we were supposed to be.

We've done that - twice:rolleyes1. First time we were unhappy with our second Poly stay and we were able to transfer to the CR and the second time, we were staying at the YC/CL, but I missed the CR rooms and location. I think I can stop experimenting now:laughing:.

The first resort we ever stayed was DL, too! Isn't WDW great about unexpected transfers?!

Did you book a CR bounceback?

Lets see if I remember right...usually with the DME rides from the airport to the CR I'm too excited...I think we are the third stop after the GF and Poly. I'm usually home (at the CR) by 90 minutes after landing at the airport. The wait at the airport has always been minimal for us and the ride is quick.

Did you book a CR bounceback?

I'm really interested in this as well, and what the offers were in the room.

I will be staying Atrium level arriving Sunday morning. I CAN'T WAIT! Anyone else out there going to be there the same time?:goodvibes

Thanks! I have not packed yet,, I usually bring a variety of clothing for this time of year. And we are doing a split stay so we will be a BWI for a few days before moving over to CR for the majority of our stay... I cannot wait to get "home" to CR though!

I'm wondering what decoration will adorn CR's 4th FL - will it be the Mary Blair from last year?

Help :confused3 I haven't stayed at the Contemporary since 1977. My wife wants me to book a room in the tower facing the 7 seas lagoon for a Anniversary trip on the weekend of Jan 14th. Any advice? (best view, best rate, best floor, even or odd number room) that sort of stuff? We loved looking at the Poly and Grand Floridian, when we were at the California Grill, thought it might be a prettier view than the MK because we didn't want to see a lot of pavement and parking lot???

We have just moved (this week) to a new home and I don't have time to do my normal research on the DisBoards, if anyone has some basic suggestions it would be most appreciated.

First, congratulations on your new home! Second, happy anniversary!

Tower BLV is our favorite CR location. This is the request I make when booking:

~High floor

~Far from Chef Mickey's (if the noise might bother you)

~Odd numbered room (as you're sitting in bed you will face toward the WL, Epcot, FW
areas instead of toward BLT.)

When you book, mention that it's you anniversary and they may do something special for you and your DW.

I would also recommend booking the CA Grill. On your ADR note that it's your anniversary. When you check-in, ask to either have a window seat (perhaps to view Wishes;)) or a seat in the "Wine Room." If available, you will have an area with great BL views and very attentive service. This area in back only has about four tables and is quiet and perfect for an anniversary dinner.

Have a great anniversary!

OK. We have finally settled when we get to go to Disneyworld! :lovestruc

We are going in 2012 (May) to celebrate my daughters fifth bday! Because we won't be visiting long (just two full days maybe one more) we have decided that we will be going to just Epcot and the Magic Kingdom and because of that we want a hotel on the monorail line.

Hubby and I have narrowed it down to Contemporary... but he is quite nervous that it's going to be noisy with the monorails gliding through the resort. I told him most people on here haven't really commented on the noise but I mentioned if we get a garden wing room he won't have to worry about it.

I know that it can be pretty difficult to get a GW room and I'm not sure if they are ever part of the 40% discounts and if not I'd get the BLV room.

So I was hoping someone cound answer some of my questions...

If I get into the tower what floors are best for avoiding monorail and restaurant noises?

If we do get a GW room, I'd like to avoid the laundry area and elevators... and would like to know what to request.

And do they offer 40% off on GW rooms?

Thanks so much! I hope I get to be a CR expert myself soon! :flower3:

The Mary Blair design is a permanent design that will always be there. Now last year for Christmas they created an It's A Small World design that was located in front of the Fantasia store where they sold various pastries, cookies and etc, along with the 2009 Contemporary Resort holiday pins. Although I am not sure if they are having that same design this year.

Actually Seven Seas Lagoon is with the Magic Kingdom View and that also comes with seeing the Contemporary parking lot, although I personally don't let that bother me each time we had that view. Now maybe you are confusing Seven Seas Lagoon with the Bay Lake View which is their other room category for staying in the Tower, if so WDWKOOK gave you great advice.

Honestly we have never heard any noise while in our room from the Monorail and a few years ago we had a room on the 6th floor, which was located right above the Contemporary Monorail station. Now the best floors in the Tower to avoid any noises would be their high floors and the highest none Club Level floor you can request is the 11th floor, then tell them away from Chef Mickey's. Although if you got the 8th, 9th or 10th floor they would be just as good. Since I never stayed in the Garden Wing I can't say what would best for you to request over there. Finally in the most recent discounts I have seen the Garden Wing has been available around 40% off, although I am not sure what would be included in any future discounts.

Mary Blair (and Walt Disney) also created It's a Small World, originally for the World's Fair. The exhibit was then moved to DL and the one at WDW was modeled after it.

I made the assumption he meant BL, but I could be wrong - that has happened once or twice:rolleyes1

Thankyou CRF4L.

I honestly didn't think that it'd be any problem at all.... maybe chef M's but I will definatley take your advice about upper floors...

I am too hoping that a GW is available, I actually don't like balconies so the doors would be shut anyways, and the extra money would be for food and souvenirs!

You're welcome and if it helps the Garden Wing rooms don't come with balconies, although that would only effect the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors, since the 1st floor rooms only have a patio.

Right, that would be okay to have a 2 or 3 floor room. How do you get a BLV in the garden wing or the canal view?
I believe you would need to reserve the Garden Wing - Garden View room category, although I am not sure what the chances are of getting it with the Bay Lake View. At least with the Tower - Bay Lake View you know that's exactly the view you will be getting.
