Very funny story here. . . my family is obsessive with disney and we tend to "save" our left over disney stuff for "special occasions". Well, my parents had stayed in the contemporary several years ago and bought home tons of soap and all. Well, Katrina hit and almost completely destroyed their home. While we were packing up the save and throw away stuff while they moved out my mom found stuff like old perfume/makeup that she gave to all the granddaughters and was looking for SOMETHING to give the only grandson she has (14 at the time). Well she found some bars of disney "Soap". He was happy to have it, went home and used it, and used it, and used it and the family couldn't figure out why it was lasting so long. Come to find out it wasn't soap at all. . . .it was some sort of candles! We have laughed and that has become one of our family jokes since then!:lmao:

That is hilarious. The grandson must still be embarrassed by that story. Didn't he wonder why it didn't get him clean? Thanks for sharing your story:rotfl:

From all ears - Currently it is only open to Disney Vacation Club members staying at Bay Lake Tower on points. The lounge is not open to guests staying on a cash rental basis.

Is this still the case?

and one last question... at least for this hour :lmao: The past two years that we have stayed on site there have been 'pool parties' at the main pools of both the hotels (GF and the Poly) with music and games and all that stuff... do they do this at the CR? Is there a quiet pool if we don't want any of that? Does the BLT have these too?

Okay - that is it! LOL Thanks in advance!!:thumbsup2

BLT doesn't have a quiet pool. Guests of BLT may use the CR's Bay Lake quiet pool. However, it's not always so quiet. If the main pool is closed, kids will flock to it and even when the main pool is open, there will frequently be kids in it, even though there aren't any life guards. But in general, it's much less crowded than CR's main pool or the BLT pool and it does have the cabanas you can rent.

From the WDW website:

Pools

Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort boasts its own beautiful Bay Cove Pool, a zero-entry pool, exclusively for Guests of Bay Lake Tower. The main feature of Bay Cove Pool is a 20-foot high and 148-foot long water slide. There is also a separate ADA approved accessible slide. Near the pool is a children's interactive water play area, whirlpool spa, lockers, changing area and the Cove Bar. Disney-trained lifeguards are on duty during slide operating hours.

Guests of Bay Lake Tower also have access to Bay Lake Pool, a round, quiet pool which is shallow on the outside and deeper in the center, and to the larger pool at Disney's Contemporary Resort, which includes a 17-foot high curving slide.

Ditto to what Disneymath said. We just got back from a week at the BLT and it was wihout a doubt 1 of our best Disney trips ever! Check in was utterly fantastic. We arrived around 2pm on the ME. I was so tired because I didn't sleep at all the night before we left. My neighbors decided to have a very loud party until 4:45am and my alarm went off at 5am. The CM that checked us in was super understanding of my less than happy mood. Our room was EVERY request we made and was ready! We have so many Disney trips under our belts I can't even count and this was the easiest and best check-in, stay, and hotel ever. We didn't have 1 problem with anything at the BLT. We are already trying to plan our stay at the BLT next year. We want a bigger room and want to bring more of our family to share in the fun. Now we just need the 40% off discount and we will be there. When we were @ the BLT pool, there was music, bingo with prizes and other activities that we missed. I am still excited about our recent trip and we have been home for a week.

He's a total comedian so unless we say something in front of his girlfriend, he jokes and laughs about it. He said he kept thinking "Wow, this is SOME Disney magic!". :rotfl:

What makes it worse was it was his little sister that figured it out when she took a shower in his bathroom!:lmao:

Hey!

Just had to say hi from the BLT. Today is our 5th day in an MK view on the 12th floor. Room 8220. Leaving Friday. :(

I LOVE our view and our room. :)

Still haven't made it to the top floor yet.

Staying on points so internet is FREE!! :)

Kids went down and watched Bolt last night out back. Then the fireworks every night from our room. :goodvibes

Off to AK today! Bye!

Sounds like a Magical time!!! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!!!! :cool1:

The toddler will be sleeping on the daybed. She is very excited about her special bed at Disney. :rotfl:

I think it would fit then. You could put it by the 2nd bed in between the bed and curtains. Or you can put it by the door that would be a connecting door. The CR has bigger rooms than most other resorts.

Just got back on Sunday and all I can say was WOW! We had room 4646 on the 10th floor and it was just breath taking to open that balcony door! It was our first stay at the CR. I didn't care for the bathrooms though particularly the sinks and the fact that the door doesn't lock...in fact our door didn't even close all the way. My son spent most of his time at the pool and had a blast with the games in the afternoons. We also swam one evening.

Glad you enjoyed your stay!! Wow!! 10th floor!! Awesome! Did you know....the first two numbers of your room add up to what floor you're staying on?? 4 +6 = 10!! Isn't that neat?? Don't know if they do that at any other Resorts besides the CR!! :thumbsup2

I agree with you regarding the sinks...yuck!! And the storage isn't so great anymore either. I think the new decor is lovely, and you can't beat that VIEW!! Woohoo!!:cool1:

It really was awesome! I'm uploading my photos tonight and missing that room! The pillows were also much more comfortable than the ones at the moderates.

We are staying there on points...So here's the million dollar question...Are there any high floor standard rooms ? With decent views?? Thanks!!! Want to know what to request.

I don't think that is true for us. We are on the 12th floor and our room # is 8220 but if you add them ALL up, you'd get 12! :)

I do not like the doors for the bathrooms either. They slide and do NOT lock.

Still having a great (but tiring) time! :)

This free Internet for DVC members is a great perk! :thumbsup2

Here is the thread that shows all the BLT room numbers and views. Most BLT std. rooms are on floors 1-5. The chart in the link will help you plan your request.

Good luck!

For just 14 days in August and 14 days in September-October, Chef Mickey’s restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is adding a lunch buffet, complete with Disney Characters to meet and greet diners.

High demand for the free dining package necessitates the expanded dining time, but anyone (not just guests on the package) can make a reservation at 407-WDW-DINE or here. Cost is $28.75 including tax, $15.97 ages 3 to 9, under 3 free.

Dates are now through Aug. 28, and Sept. 19-Oct. 2. Lunch hours are 12:30-2:30 p.m. Breakfast and dinner are still offered as usual.

Thanks!!! That was very helpful :thumbsup2

Do you find that the CM's generally try to accomodate requests, especially if you check in early? :wizard:
