~*~The After-Twilight Bookclub!!!~*~

Started Mockingjay last night! Already very good. I read Shiver, couldn't get into it. Probably will start Halfway to the Grave after Mockingjay. Seems like mindless vamp fun!

I just finished Guardian at the Gate. I have mixed feelings. I know I will read the next book when it comes out just because I am curious to see how this will end. As I was reading it I kind of felt bored. I feel it was dragging on. Lia, the main character made stupid mistakes and was just so naive. She actually got on my nerves. I liked the first book in this series better. This book did have some charters I liked, like Edmund, Dimitri and one of her BFF's(whose name I can't remember). I do like the setting of this series and how the characters speak and the writting is good IMHO. There really is no big scare in this book either. If you like the type of book that has that scare factor, have you tried The Strain by Guilermo Del Torro? I actually had nightmares from that book! It was great!

Too bad about Guardian at the Gate. I had hoped it would be a little scarier. I will put it on my maybe list. I am going to look at The Strain. It sounds promising.

I started Mockingjay yesterday. I love how Suzanne Collins writes.

Part of it yes, it was. But, all in all it was an ending with hope.

i liked it too, part of me was ...where is the rest of the story!!!
but i think it was the best ending for them

dont know if this is a spoiler so i put it in white

i like how Katniss referred to the children as the girl and the boy
it said so much ....how she still doesnt have a full range of normal emotions, that a pieces of her are missing

and I just loved the how it ended with real or not real….:lovestruc

I felt it was kind of incomplete too like maybe she rushed a bit on the end, but it was good. And I agree with the other part too.

Some things... (in white)

I was very mad at Gale, how he just sort of dissappeared at the end and didn't even go see Katniss. Also, I would like to know what happened to the prep team, I loved them.

I agree and the end felt a little rushed in some ways.

Just a few thoughts in white

I really thought either Gale or Peeta wouldn’t survive the book
But now I’m glad they both did. I like that she got a choice and not just well this one lived

Though as a Gale fan (I really wanted them together) took me a bit to come to the conclusion that the story was right. Gale lost Katniss at the reaping, the girl he loved essentially disappeared then and the Katniss that survived the games was always Peetas. I think that’s why Gale was so angry during the third book, he already realized what he lost. I took Katniss loosing Peeta to realize that she was a different person. So I think Gale had to essentially fade away.

Though hello why couldn’t we have like 100 more pages…what about Anne, the baby and am I the only one waiting for Cinna to magically survived??

I agree. More in white.

I think that one thing I liked in this book that I didn't see in others is Katniss as actually having humanity. She has always been very impersonal. I also think that she did the only thing she could do in the end and I am glad that she chose rather than having the choice thrust at her.

I started reading the Mortal Instruments books to tide me over until Mockingjay comes in (I ordered it on Amazon & since I'm cheap, I got free shipping & now have to suffer the consequences of slow shipping)

I finished City of Bones yesterday & I'm not too sure how much I liked it. Spoilers in white:

I HATE the whole fact that Jace & Clary are bother & sister. Through the entire end I just kept hoping someone would say "oh j/k, you two aren't related." Maybe that will happen later in the series? I don't know, I hated that fact.
