The Adventurosity Club

Glad to see you are hanging in there, Cat! Still thinking of you!

Good Morning all!!! (especially Mrs. Fleagle! Thanks for the wave!)

I've started posting some of the photos and reports from my most recent trip over at the "Chat with the Chief Magic Official" thread. Please check them out when you have time! The full run down of my experience with Michael Phelps is coming soon, so be sure to visit soon!

Thanks!

Oh, sorry, one more thing. I hate to name drop and such, but since you all were such a HUGE part of the CMO contest for me, I wanted to make sure you had heard that on my last trip (two weeks ago) I had a chance to meet Michael Phelps (yes, the 14-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Michael Phelps!) It was so cool. Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping to make this possible!

:)

For those who are interested, the details can be found on page #32 of Justin's "Chat with the Chief Magic Official" thread (starting at post #473).

If you page down to Post #477, you'll see that Moms Panelist Bret Caldwell (Ratboy) added a link to some great footage of Michael Phelps' visit to the MK, including a Hometown Parade down Main Street. It's from Ricky Brigante's Inside the Magic podcast. (If you watch long enough, you'll even spot Justin!)

And, dude!, if I had your sweet job, I'd totally name-drop! ;)

Thanks DisGeeks! You are always so on the ball with the links and posts and such! I really appreciate your help!

:)

Well, the rains are here, and winds are still just at 30-something miles per hour. We still have power - yay!

We MAY only get Tropical Storm winds (up to 73mph) instead of the original Hurricane force they predicted.

If you've watched any of the coverage, you see how bad it is in Galveston and Houston area. Tropical Storm winds would be great!

Hey, Cat!! Glad to see you are doing alright in that nasty storm out there. I saw on the news this morning that there were over 2 million people without power. Glad to see you can still log on and give us updates!! :thumbsup2

If I met Michael Phelps, I'd be name dropping all over the place!! What a great honor!! I was in tears during the race where he won by 1/100th of a second - but mostly because of watching the expression on his mother's face. How adorable is she? Did you get to meet her has well?

BTW...For any of you that are big fans of his - he is hosting the season premiere of SNL tonight. I'm not going to miss it!!

Well I'm hoping for the best for those experiencing "rough" weather.

In other news... I managed to stay an extra day in Japan after my business trip and guess what I did? Go ahead and guess. That's right! I went to Disney Tokyo Sea and Disneyland! :cool1: :cheer2:

I'll try to put together an official trip report when I get back, But for now, let me say that Japan is really really really embracing this Halloween thing (I've never seen so many Alice in Wonderland related costumes!). Also, I think they should change the name to Disney WaitingInLineLand. I will never complain about crowds in CA or FL again.

Cheers everyone... or as they say in Japan "Kampai".

DH had to go to Asia for work 2 years ago, and got stuck for a week waiting for a part to be shipped over. To kill time, he went to Hong Kong and did some sight seeing over there, including Hong Kong Disney:

I hope you have a great time!! It's always fun when you can turn a business trip into a fun trip!!

Sure! When it's all over! :teeth: [Insert drum-roll here!]

Sheesh! I 'dunno what my problem is this morning! (I think I'm a little punch-happy!) Maybe Mrs. Fleagle set the tone with her joke-filled "monologue" a page or two back. (Thanks, btw! :thumbsup2 )

You'll notice that I never mentioned any marathons. I also tend to stick to half marathons that I find somewhat amusing. (Actually, so far, I've only participated in the Virginia Beach Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon -- although I dream of Disney one day! :teeth: All of the bands, cheerleaders, neigborhood spirit competitions and screaming spectators really are good motivators. Plus, I bring a jogging buddy to help pass the time. And, I sure can talk... The other races (5Ks) are pretty short and sweet!

Incidentally, I also passed the time during the latest race by strapping an action cam to my head. (I tried to film portions of the race that I found interesting or amusing... And, yes!, I looked like a complete geek, but I received only positive comments -- or inquisitive stares -- from folks who said they thought it was pretty cool! I'll post something once I actually edit the footage. (Unfortunately, the camera was positioned a little askew on my head, so I missed a lot of good stuff. There are portions that are salvageable, though. Good times! :teeth: )

I need to preface this by saying that I have very vivid dreams that often make absolutely no sense. I can usually remember some very specific details the next morning.

The reason I bring this up is because ironically, I had a dream Thursday night that I was organizing a 5K race called "Race For Your Life" that benefited heart disease. The strange part came when I was entering info online for my charity, and I was drawing a blank because I had never chaired a charity before. I guess that meant I couldn't actually schedule the race.

And then I log on and see DisGeeks talking about marathon races and 5Ks. Too funny!!:rotfl:

Last night, I was in a singing competition with Tony Soprano. He was trying to kill me to keep me out, but I ended up coming in 3rd. I remember I sang the jazzy "Mercy" that was really popular a couple of months ago and Eric Clapton's "Change the World". I don't know if Mr. Soprano placed or not. :confused3

Hey! I'm still here with electricity. It's raining hard, and we are getting some big gusts of wind, but we're still not too bad.

All the areas around us are losing power, according to the local station I am still watching! Lucky me that I'm still doing well.

Everyone - thanks for keeping good thoughts coming my way. It's been nice to have a place to check in with my story.

And FTC - my neice went to Tokyo Disney Land and Sea, and had a wonderful time. I'm so glad you got to sneak a trip in - even if the lines were bad!

Wheww.....so glad you're alright! Unbelievable that you still have power! That's great! We went through Hurricane Isabel in 2002 and watched tree after tree after tree fall on our neighbor's houses and one hit ours. It was so scary....we still have damage to our house now that wasn't repaired very well. We were just lucky to stop the leaks in the roof when a tree hit our house on the way down. We were out of power for 10 days......not the fondest of memories.

So have you been outside yet...and do you have any damage? Are you alone or with some friends? Please keep updating us...... :) I'm a big 'worry-wart'! :)

This is completely off topic:

My neighborhood is having a Chili Cookoff in a couple of weeks, and I need a fun name for my chili. Last year, I called it "Carrie Kiger's Chuckwagon Chili" but I didn't really care for it and it was kind of thought up at the last minute. I want to go with something a little more unique and clever, but I don't believe I'm clever enough and may need some assistance.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks, guys! :thumbsup2

Hey! I think the worst is over for me for now!

I still have electricity (thank you, Pollyanna), and even my cable is still going! Can you believe it? Air conditioning and unlimited tv - how lucky am I? :worship:

Although they aren't able to show the damage in my area, it seems like right around Bryan we managed okay. And even though I haven't seen any film, College Station ( and the University) seem to be okay, too. Of course there's lot's of branches and trees down, lots of damage to signs, awnings, and buildings, but so far no reports of people getting hurt!

I haven't walked outside yet - still raining pretty hard, and some gusting winds. I have peeked out thru all the windows, and mainly I have big branches down - the trees seem to still be okay.

Bailey (cat) and I have managed to get thru the storm just fine, and my sister at her house (full of cats) has also done well.

I didn't sleep much last night, so I'm thinking since things are stable now, I'll take a nap. I'll confirm that things continue to be good with a later post...

Thank you ALL again for your care and good thoughts! I'm sure you helped direct Ike to the east. Sorry people in the east - my DISfriends have amazing powers! :thumbsup2

Funny! :teeth: Maaaaaan, girlfriend: What are you eating at night before bed?!? ;) (Oh, and I'm glad to hear that Tony Soprano never succeeding in "whacking" you! )

I bragged WAY TOO much about your capabilites! Right after I submitted my last post, the electricity went out.

I am going to whisper this next bit of info: It's back on now - just off long enough to start getting warm. But I'm not going to ask for too much...that way I won't jinx it again!

Well, since the original name is Chili con Carne, what about...
Chili con Carrie
Chili con Kiger

Not overly original - but if you say them out loud, they kinda roll off the tongue. I think Kiger works best.

Whatcha think?

HA! I like it! "Chili con Kiger" gets my vote! :thumbsup2

Everyone always asks me that! I have a glass of milk, and that's about it. I remember the one I had a loooooonnnnng time ago where Mrs. Fleagle was pregnant again. Perhaps I should have been dreaming about Marshay! ;)
