Who Is Ready For Some Snow This Weekend?

Getting 12-18 in. here in MA. Starting tomorrow afternoon. Best thing about this storm is I get another long weekend. School districts around me already cancelled schools yesterday!

Schools are already cancelled for Monday because temps won't be over freezing till Wednesday morning.

kudos to schools that take note of what's happening/potential to happen and calling it with some advance notice. I hated it when we were sitting at 6 in the morning to see if our school district had called a snowday. we were lucky, if the kids didn't have school it wasn't a major issue b/c we were home all day anyway but DANG-it was terrible for the parents that had to arrange childcare last minute or call in to work. for gosh sakes-we had multiple extra days of school built into the school calendar just for the purpose of being able to cancel and not extend the school year-so just let parents know one way or the other ASAP:mic:

stay safe, sane, warm and cuddly all:lovestruc

Upstate NY here. Snow started falling around 7 a.m. this morning. Still snowing and predicted to pick up to an even heavier snowfall soon. We're prepared. Expecting at least a foot, maybe 18" or more here by tomorrow.

Sounds pretty similar to here (NE Ohio), just a little behind us. Our snow probably started about 3am (our dog got up about 4 to go to the bathroom and we had maybe an inch).

I just plowed our driveway and I’d say we’ve had about 6 inches and it’s expected to keep coming most of the day, so we’ll likely get 12-15” I would guess. I’ll probably end up plowing two more times today, as my snowblower does well with 4-6 inches at a time, but once it starts getting near a foot, it’s got issues.

It’s a hunkered down sort of day…

11:20 am in Central CT. We've got 2 or 3 inches and falling steadily. Expecting 18 - 20 according to the more trustworthy hobbiest we follow. The plow has gone by once. They cancelled my Mon morning yoga class.
Fed the birds, have plenty of food (opps - no milk, or white bread :D) and a generator.

We got about 1 1/2" of snow (forecast was 4-8) between 2p and 11p last night. Turned over to sleet/freezing rain sometime this morning and probably ~ 1/2" sheet of ice on everything. I tried scraping it off the drive, but it's a bear. Debating putting rock salt or something down, but worried even if that melts it, it's still below freezing (27F), so the melt won't last long before refreezing.

My yard stick shows ~ 2 1/2" of accumulation ice & snow combined so far.

Rock salt will work fine down to like 10F.

Western Mass

Snow started at about 9:30 am....

14-24 by the time all is supposed to be done on Monday. Thankfully my college has already cancelled for tomorrow.

hunkering down and watching it pile up.

Our snow started after midnight and by this morning we had 3-4 inches. Then the sleet changeover started. They predict another 3 inches of sleet (of course it's not fluffy so it doesn't cause that much depth). We then changeover to freezing rain after 7 pm which is the bad, dangerous stuff. Unfortunately the sleet knocked down our accumulation but our roads are covered and the temp is in the teens. Thick ice tonight.

Supposedly we've received 4-5" of snow/sleet in the Memphis, TN area. The snowdrift at my back door is closer to a foot+ of snow and not all of our dogs are thrilled by it. Our extra fluffy German Shepard and crazy pants Belgian Malinois are the only two ok with it 🙄

A friend has offered our teen boys money to shovel her driveway and a neighbors, so DH dropped them off. Meanwhile, he's out helping drive local hospital staff to/from shifts. It's something that we participate in through the local Jeep club when snow/ice build up. Meanwhile, I used my heat press earlier to make our upcoming pirate night cruise shirts.

Fingers crossed for a full closure of campus tomorrow. There's like 5 plows in the county. Reports of the highways are still in rough shape and I can only assume main thoroughfares aren't great either. Local schools sent out their closures for Monday yesterday.

Looks like our ice/snow/sleet event has come and gone. Got about 1-1/2 inches of sleet. Roads are a mess, most of yard is covered. But sun is now out. Still in teens, and not supposed to get above freezing until Tuesday. Got faucets running and about to try and run the dishwasher.

My computer says 17 degrees, my phone says 22 and our Roku TV says 15. So not sure which to believe.

Now they are saying we still have the chance for an inch of ice or tornados this afternoon. They are not sure which. Maybe both.

The snow is ramping up in central CT. It’s gorgeous! It is really fluffy. It is coming down at about 2 inches an hour. DH went out about an hour ago to do a round of snow blowing and said we had about 5 inches. Local news is saying models are saying up to 21 inches for our area. We’ll see!

Round 2 of snowblowing done with a steady snow still coming down. I’d say by now, we’re well over a foot for the day, 2 feet in total.
