Day 8– Fri. Sept. 19

Today was our finish up day at MK. We grabbed the boat over and arrived about 9:15. I really felt like it was hotter than it had been all week. The humidity just seemed really bad to me. I was even having difficulty breathing. I’m sure it was all in my perception after Isabelle had made her appearance on the east coast the day before and it hadn’t been nearly as humid. Anyway, on our way in we were pleasantly surprised to find Daisy in Town Square but the line was really long so we regretfully moved on. It took us awhile to make our way down Main Street as there was some kind of filming going on and a lot of areas were roped off. We headed straight for Buzz’s ride. It was a walk on. DS was really excited about riding and we all shared a vehicle. DH and I loved this ride. Jared and Fred did the shooting and I did the steering. DH did pretty well (Planetary Pilot) considering he felt my driving left a little to be desired. (Typical man that thinks a woman can’t drive) For some reason Jared was a little overwhelmed on this ride and he wouldn’t ride it again. :( This really took me by surprise since he loves video games and such. I was disappointed that he didn’t enjoy it more. We did a little shopping in the Buzz carts and then headed to Toon Town to try and find Cinderella and Piglet. We go in and find Cinderella is indeed waiting for us. YEAH!! DS was very happy to meet her. The down side is I began having some difficulties with my camera that morning and I think the pics of her and Jared are going to be blurry.:( When we got out we spent a little while messing with the camera trying to fix it. Eventually it started working on it’s own…. have no idea why. I asked a CM to check where we would find Piglet…we were disappointed to hear that he wasn’t at MK that day only AK. We headed to Fantasy Land per DS request. He wanted to do Pooh again. We got a FP because the line was too long and he decided he wanted to do the Carousel. I of course had told him about looking for Cinderella’s horse, he was determined to find and get it. Unfortunately another little girl grabbed it just before us. Jared was disappointed but handled himself well.

A strange thing happened to us when we got off. When we went to retrieve our stroller there was a security guard standing there and he asked us if we had been at the Crystal Palace earlier. Evidently 2 sets of people there had the same stroller as us and one of them took the wrong stroller. They thought we had the wrong stroller. Lesson to be learned here: put your name on your stroller somewhere. He was very nice but we still felt a little like we had done something wrong and we had no real way to prove that it was ours. We headed back to Pooh and even with the FP we waited about 5-minutes. Next we headed over to Goofy’s Jamboree. We got there about 25 minutes before the show started and there was a lovely group of 3 gentlemen who entertained us by joking and singing. As we were sitting here waiting to get in I really started to feel pretty crappy. I just told myself to ignore it and I would be fine. We got great up front spot for this and all of us really enjoyed it. There was no Woody there though which I had expected and so this was mildly disappointing. There was Chip, Dale, Goofy, Jessie, and Bullseye. My only complaint about this show is that towards the end when they all get together for a picture we were unable at that point to be close enough to get one after all the dancing had dislodged everyone from their original spots. Next time I would have an adult on the floor with kids and an adult upstairs for any video and camera moments we wanted. When they shot off the confetti at the end Jared was so excited. He just had to have some and he insisted that it was “pixtie” dust! He enjoyed a lot of creative play with this for the next couple days. So this is where it started…I realized I too had finally hit the “wall”. I was beat and I was not happy about it either. We had planned to stay until the parade was over because we really wanted to see it. I was just really affected by the heat on this day and I knew I probably couldn’t make it. We decided to get a bite to eat and then see how I felt. We went to Casey’s on Main for some hot dogs. I must say it was probably one of the best hot dogs I’ve ever had and it will be a “don’t miss” for us in the future. We ate and rested but as soon as we headed back out I felt horrible again. With a lot of reluctance we decided to say good-bye to MK. As we were leaving I turned with Jared to have one last look at the castle (well not really as we could still see it from our room) and he said….”It’s very pretty, Mommy. Can we come back and see it?” I was practically a blubbering idiot!! :o

As we were leaving we ran into Daisy and Max and Robin Hood and DS just had to stop.
We headed back to the room and when we arrived we were greeted with quite a mousekeeping display. Nemo, dolphin, Thumper, Shamu were once again found watching Toon Disney. They were also joined by 2 of the most adorable kitty’s and hanging over Jared’s bed a really adorable towel angel. It really was great. Jared loved it and I got a little teary eyed again. :o This is what happens to me when I am too tired…blubbering fool!! I laid down thinking I would rest for a few minutes and the next thing I know I woke up 1 ½ hours later alone and very disoriented. I headed off to the pool in search of the family and had to soak my head to clear the cobwebs. We had a swim and then decided to head to Ft. Wilderness for dinner. We took the boat and took the short walk to the rest. We really enjoyed the buffet here. There was a lot to choose from and it was pretty much good cookin’! Good value for the money. It probably isn’t everyone’s style but I would do it again. We left with full bellies and headed back to the lodge and I spent the rest of the evening packing up before bed.

Coming up…. a little disappointment, the trip home and some final thoughts.

Corky,
Our DD also got a towel angel one day, but don't tell anyone, it has a new home here in NC. Shhhhhhhh!

I understand what you say about heat the last two days. I agree with you but the explanation makes sense. See, Isabell missed Florida but we were on the good side of the hurricane as far as weather because it was sucking cool dry air in from the north. This is why we felt so good all week long and then it seemed to get warmer. I'm pretty sure that FC will agree.

The person who did your room was Diana. She is the mousekeeper that did our room and was also recommended highly by Beth in the WL Faq forum. She is one of the few that still does towel animals from what she told us. Nobody has the time or desire anymore to learn. She used to work at the CBR but was pulled from there to come work what she called the VIP floor at the lodge. (That was kinda cool to hear....we were on the VIP floor. Heheheh!) Now that I think of it....we were in a VIP room too! Hehe! :)

Anyone who wants Diana as their mousekeeper should ask for a room in Section 42 on your room request from what she told me.

Bah! All of our towel animals came home with us!!! :)

Fred,
I would have had to have a whole suitcase to bring them all home. We got one everyday of our stay this past summer. The alligator alone would take most of a suitcase!!

But the thought did cross my mind.

OMG...you bad, bad boys!! I won't tell a soul!

Fred, I did have a very nice chat with Dianna but she didn't pass on the section info....thanks for sharing...now that we are planning a return I will need that info
