The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

So, with the couple of hours I had today, I visited a few threads instead of updating here- if I didn't get to yours, please be patient! (I've actually probably read it, just haven't commented ( @pkondz and @franandaj, et al... ).

A few tidbits:

I have an interview in the morning at the smaller local hospital for a per diem Med-Surg position. I confess I'm a bit nervous as it's a multiple interviewer style meeting. I'm generally a pretty confident kind of person, but I haven't really had time to bone up on the potential questions. So asking for prayers at 0730.

I had hoped to post a little REAL trip-related update about that BFP for the 19th which it looks as if several folks will be at. It'll have to wait until this weekend as I'm now starting another round of 3 nights in a row- and it takes a full day to recover and catch my missing zzzz's.

Still trying to debrief myself after the Code on Saturday. It can be a lonely place to try to work through that.

Anyway, hope you are all well! I'll be on and off with the phone as I can.

Loves,

Steppe

Good luck. Both with the interview and moving forward from Saturday. That has definitely got to be difficult, but sadly, one of the potential outcomes you'll experience in your line of work. Keep your head up and know you did what you could do.

Big hugs headed your way and lots of luck and pixie dust as well!

Jill in CO

Oh no, Rosie!! I'm so sad to hear that!!

Prayers going up for Frank.

It's been a challenging few days for me too. I had my first Code Blue on Saturdat night- he did not make it.
Prayers for Frank and for your first Code Blue.

Code Blues are a sight to see. I was there when Dad coded, it went from one nurse yelling "I need help!" to people pouring out from every corner. They brought him back that time, but mom said not to do it again and he just faded away later that night.

No worries. I love it when people comment... but it totally get that sometimes you can't. Life comes first.

Darn. I'm too late to wish you well. Hope it went well!

Of which I, now definitely, will not be there.
I may still be able to go in September, but October is definitely out.

At least a day.

Do you have a CISM peer at your work? (Critical Incident Stress Management) If you do, I would strongly urge you to have a chat with them. I'm one for my work group. We're there to listen!

As a caring health professional you will never totally get over the loss of any of your patients, but you have to take comfort in the knowledge that you were there to try to fight for them in their time of need. You are not in control of the outcome, you are only in control of trying your best.

That was very well said, @DonnaBeeGood

Awww man! Was looking forward to it. ....... I think :rolleyes1 :duck: :rotfl2:

One of my guys from my Group home is a bad way . I am asking for all your prayers for MY Frank, he has always been my favorite !! My heart is breaking for him !!

 We are all here for you Rosie.

I had my first Code Blue on Saturday night- he did not make it.

 Oh Liesa. As comments below say, Thoughts and prayers for you as you work through this. The hospital should have someone who can guide you through this, especially your first one. :grouphug:

Prayers for strength, and protection, as your commitment to serving others continues.
::yes::

You have my number - I can listen....:listen:

Last few years I've opened it in April/May. Then it sits there eating chemicals and electricity and isn't used very much. So this year, we'll save some $$ and open it a bit later when it's more likely to be used.

So, like our jacuzzi that is just sitting out there. Rotting. Just no time to keep it up OR enjoy it. Hopefully after graduation and things become a bit steadier in the schedule.

Stabilizing the bank sounds like a big job all by itself!

I think he's stalling because he really doesn't know where to start. I think he needs some professional help (don't we all?) but the tightwad always wins out.

Looks like the 19th isn't going to happen.
There's a co-worker who wants leave at that time to go to a wedding. I can't book the time on a maybe when she has a sure thing.
It's not completely out for October, but... :confused3

Looks like October isn't happening. :( Sadness going on. I'll take a spin on HM in your honour.

So excited for you!! All those ADR's!!! Looks amazing!! I suck at contests so not going there lol but I'm glad you got so many good ressies!! Makes me want to go check out some menus...I love doing that lol. Have not seen Yeehaw Bob...but sounds like a lot of fun too!!

So did you check out the menus?? Did ya, did ya? ;) I love doing that too. Kinda already have picked out what I'd like to try.

Yeehaw Bob is a total kick in the pants. Just good old fashioned, zany fun!

So awesome. My dd seems to be getting the garden bug, too. She helped a little over the weekend, and some tonight, too, weeding. I can only hope it lasts!

Mine is on hold until my 6 day run of days off.

I was especially impressed you managed to start seeds this year. I've skipped it the last couple years, and am just doing direct seeds plus buying a few tomato and pepper plants. I do miss my purple cabbage, however. I make an awesome blue cheese slaw with it.

Nope, those were starts. From ACE Hardware. LOL! I've tried from seed so many times with utter failure, I've given up completely. I need to finish off this bed though with carrot seed, the one I"m still willing to try.

Thanks for all your prayers but Frank coded on Monday evening and didn't make it !!! It has been a very sad couple of days Tomorrow is the funeral !!

Well I'll be darned.

Any veggie can taste great given enough fake cheese sauce.

(of course that negates any health benefit whatsoever, but who cares, really.)

Wow, you got a lot of great ADR's! I want to do that tour some of these days.

Your garden looks great! I need to plant mine once it stops snowing. The 2 feet we got last week finally melted off yesterday.

Good eating on my way!!!

Yes, a garden for fun. I can't believe how much snow you're STILL getting. Surely Spring is close by for you. ???

I checked Yehaa Bob's site again and the October schedule still isn't out. All of his shows leading up to that start at 8:30, but run (pretty much) continuously until 11:45, and people float in and out, so shouldn't be a problem.

I"m not too worried. A couple of hours ought to be plenty of shenanigans.

Is Yak and Yeti going to be a part of some Rivers of Light package? If so, maybe they are holding some things back for that reason??? :confused3 Always enjoyed my meals there, and it IS an amazingly popular place, but there also seems to be walk-ups available also.

Good question! Now I wonder. Hmmm.... Although, now I hear RoL isn't even going to open this year. Just a lot of other nighttime stuff, which is fun too. So probably not for packages. If we're in the mood, we'll try a walk up. If not, we're happy with other stuff.

This is on my list of wannado's......

It's a really nice (and inexpensive) tour.

I bet THAT made Rosie feel a little better. :thumbsup2

;)

No wonder you were anticipating a back-breaking effort..........look at all those WEEDS! :faint:

Har har. Did you notice the beds BEFORE?! It's embarrassing how bad my yard looks right now.

You REALLY think one of us would pull a fast one like that.............on poor sweet Liesa??? :sad2: Now ROSIE on the other hand........... :rolleyes1

Now THAT would be funny.

Beggars can't be choosers. :rolleyes2

Wait! Was I begging?

Zipping right along.......... :crutches: :tiptoe:

7/12 done now!

They are but usually in threes. I can do 1 night ( via Napoli pizza ) I can get away with a 2nd night ( maybe a salad with tomatoes) but if I indulge again on night 3..... :crazy2: However large does like in lasagna is mostly like a double dose.

Well, then, we'll have to just find good and okay food for you, so we can ALL have fun. No one wants you to be feeling icky- too much to doooooooo!!!

I have been busy too but with plants and fescue. Trying to get a good lawn back is tiring.

We gave up. My yard looks like something out of the end of Sleeping Beauty.

Staaaaawp!!

We shall see how it all plays out...... :p

I think I should be worried.

I was amazed I had 10 points !!! :rotfl2:

Keep playing. Next installment coming up in a few days...

We will get there early to see if we can get seats , you will need to keep us informed of your arrival time !!!

Oh we will!!! For sure. :D

It never fails... :sad2:

Every time. But then again, it'd be a pretty boring TR if it went something like,

"We cruised right through security and sauntered up to the nearest gate without any drama, leisurely sipping a latte."

Yeah... I mean, I don't even understand why you didn't just fill the "ditty bag" up with ponchos.

Because we fill the SUITCASES with ponchos. We only need one in the ditty bag for Day 1, right. This is packing with PRECISION, my friend!

Nothing says "Happy Birthday!" like a spreadsheet! :rolleyes1

Well, it could have been a spreadsheet of summer chores...

Wow. That's dedication.

This trip spares no enthusiasm.

Sorry the train tour was a no go, but it looks like you have some great alternatives lined up!

You KNOW it!

Woohoo! Quality time with a working laptop!

Part is still not in! :(

That should be a lot of fun!

The Hokey Pokey for everyone! And yes, there will be embarrassing video.

As should La Cava. Because margaritas...

Too bad you and Katie won't be there. By the way, any updates on The Tiny Human?

Well, if that doesn't get you excited about it I don't know what will.

It was a rather glorious recommendation, I must say!

Not bad. I'll drop off quickly, but not a bad start at all!

I doubt it! Next round coming up soon!

So, like our jacuzzi that is just sitting out there. Rotting. Just no time to keep it up OR enjoy it. Hopefully after graduation and things become a bit steadier in the schedule.

Well, this way I don't feel rotten for getting bills for water and electricity for something that isn't being used.

I think he's stalling because he really doesn't know where to start. I think he needs some professional help (don't we all?) but the tightwad always wins out.

I so get that.

Looks like October isn't happening. :( Sadness going on. I'll take a spin on HM in your honour.

Yeah. No October. I basically had to book or let someone else have the dates.
And since I still don't even know if I can go or not... I couldn't in good conscience keep the other person hanging.

Any veggie can taste great given enough fake cheese sauce.

Drive by hugging.....

More shout outs tomorrow. Basically, I get 30 minutes of free time a day while working.

Meantime, interview went well.:D I'll know in a week or so of they offer me a position.

Dreams coming true... No big deal or anything....

Liesa, I am late for it, but still sending a big hug! Having to experience a code blue sounds terrifying for me and must have been for you as well, despite knowing that this would happen in your profession!

However, I love the good news that the interview went well and I hope you will be successful in getting the job and that the job turns out everything you want it to be!

I'm ready for the snow to stop. Thought it was about over but now we are supposed to get 6-9 inches by Saturday morning. :(
