The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

7 months is a long way to go. For all of you, and certainly for myself.
But it's less than half of 15 months...

Last night my girls and I were treated to a magical evening complements of my generous Christmas gift to us. This was our 6th Annual Girls Only Dinner and Broadway Night. In the past, we've enjoyed Broadway Divas, Lion King, Phantom, Wicked, and last night... Wizard of Oz.
Cool! I'm glad you've had a chance to start this tradition!

I'm happy to report I did not crash, miss any of my exits, or spill another cup of coffee in the car.
Well, small victories, I guess.

At this point, I'd forgotten to do something very, VERY important. Remember that.
Got it.

On the other hand, my 20 year went on a lengthy rant that she can buy a rifle, drive, procreate (she's WAY too focused to even think about a relationship, let alone entertain the thought of that), and vote, but can't have a cocktail with her mom.
Well, when you're right, you're right... :rotfl2:

My own opinion (since this is my thread and can not only opine with redundant excess, but can also invite you to as well) is that this is an absurd Americanism which neither has any intended benefit or helps parents teach moderation at the time and age they feel is appropriate for their own children.
Agreed.

My daughters reminded me in time that the last time we were there, I had a pretty strong drink, and ate WAY too much spicy food and ended up with a gallbladder attack during the show and basically suffered for 2 hours in a theater seat. Only borderline worth it. If you've had gall bladder issues, you understand. If not, imagine plucking your own fingernails out and then dipping them in acid- that would come close.
Oh wow... I'm glad you didn't overdo it this time.

She was very grateful and thanked us, and we continued on our way. About halfway there, it struck me that I had once again forgotten something very important. But I wasn't turning back because: 1) I had high heels on and, 2) something looked very ominous as we approached the theater. I can't think of one single time a theater was dark and the doors weren't opened half an hour before curtain. Huh. That's weird.
Uh oh...

Well, crap. Nursing Student Brain was in full control when I printed out my directions and here we are. At the wrong place. GREAT.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: At least this mistake didn't get anybody dead.

Ok, quick! Who still has battery and internet? Bek did, so she fired up Google Maps and let us know that we had 15 blocks to walk. In the rain. And high heels. And it was 7:10.
Whew... that was close.

Toward the end of play, we suddenly heard the Witch's voice BEHIND us! Not 2 rows back in the aisle 3 seats over, she appeared to make threats to the "Citizens of Oz" (the Audience). My youngest nearly wet herself with excitement over this close encounter. It was magical to see the pure joy on her face during the entire show and squeeze my hand at every cool effect, song, or dance. Memories like that don't happen every day.
Cool!!!

Have any of you guessed what other costly mistake Nursing School Brain made last night? There tucked neatly under the wiper, in all it's rude glory, was my parking ticket. I wasn't going to just leave without paying. But I'm sure they hear that all day long and more. Ah well.... I added an extra $44 bucks to the festivities.
Ok... trying to figure this one out. So did you get a parking ticket at school and then drive all the way there with it still tucked under the wiper???

She's been having a really hard time in school. A long story, but I've got a pretty sad teen who simply hates school and was recently betrayed rather harshly by someone she thought was her best friend.
Yuck. Sorry to hear this, but I'm glad you had a little time to spend with her 1 on 1.

Wait.
She's going to buy a rifle, drive to some guy's place and force him to procreate???
What kind of kid are you raising there?
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Because it's NOT...
a ZOO!!!

But it is. :rolleyes1

The last exam *EVER* with this much stress attached in this nursing program is at 7:30 on Tuesday morning, followed by our exit interviews with our Advisors. There will be no small amount of celebrating afterwards.
Woohooo!!!! Are you sure you'll be here Wednesday? Because I'm thinking you'll be nursing yourself back from a hangover and barely making it to your meeting in time.

ZURG!

On the one hand, I've come so far. On the other, 7 months is a long way to go. For all of you, and certainly for myself.

Time goes by so quickly now! 7 months is nothing.

In the past, we've enjoyed Broadway Divas, Lion King, Phantom, Wicked, and last night... Wizard of Oz.

Cool. I can recommend another one to you now...

I had wanted to do the Melting Pot, but I knew we wouldn't have time for that- perhaps another night sometime later this summer.

I need someone to explain the Melting Pot to me sometime. I love melted cheese and chocolate too, but isn't the rest of the meal just boiled meat? And why do they have a head chef if I'm cooking my own dinner?

Only my oldest is over 21, but she doesn't drink much ever. On the other hand, my 20 year went on a lengthy rant that she can buy a rifle, drive, procreate (she's WAY too focused to even think about a relationship, let alone entertain the thought of that), and vote, but can't have a cocktail with her mom. My own opinion (since this is my thread and can not only opine with redundant excess, but can also invite you to as well) is that this is an absurd Americanism which neither has any intended benefit or helps parents teach moderation at the time and age they feel is appropriate for their own children.

We all want what we can't have. Then we finally get it and wonder what all the fuss was about in the first place.:rotfl2:

If not, imagine plucking your own fingernails out and then dipping them in acid- that would come close.

So...let's not do that, then.

But I wasn't turning back because: 1) I had high heels on and, 2) something looked very ominous as we approached the theater. I can't think of one single time a theater was dark and the doors weren't opened half an hour before curtain. Huh. That's weird.

D'oh!

It was magical to see the pure joy on her face during the entire show and squeeze my hand at every cool effect, song, or dance. Memories like that don't happen every day.

Hooray! I'm glad you all had such a good time!

Double D'oh!

A long story, but I've got a pretty sad teen who simply hates school and was recently betrayed rather harshly by someone she thought was her best friend.

Ugh. People suck sometimes.

I will probably regret the utter waste of my day in that area, but it has been good to feel somewhat engaged here too.

Nah. Sometimes your brain needs a break. I used to get to the point where I closed the books and said, "If I don't know it by now, I never will."

Where is this? Hint: It contains a Letter Z.

The Republic of Nahtahzu.

:woohoo::cool1:

Butter chicken sounds GOOD But what is Palak Paneer???? I had Tacos and fruit for supper !! See I eat ethnic food !! Marv I am referring to the Tacos NOT the fruit :rotfl2:

Liesa did a fantastic job describing it so I'll just refer you to her reply!

Fruit, what's that? ;)

After going the other night, I looked up some recipes online, and it actually doesn't look as hard as I thought. I have all the spices and some pork thawing, so I'm going to give Korma a try tomorrow night.

I love korma. Judy's made stuff from scratch...put together garam masala spices, we've made naan, the whole thing. But the other night's meal was just from a spice package thing we found at the grocery store. An "Indian Food Helper" kind of thing. It was interesting, the butter chicken was good, but didn't really taste like butter chicken. Not creamy enough. Oh well.

Paneer is a type of Indian cheese. Quite lovely! It doesn't really melt or get gooey, and has the consistency of a soft tofu, but is more flavorful. Palak is a purred spinach curry that is truly amazing.

I couldn't have described it better!

Good luck on you Last Exam!!! Have fun with your study buddies, and even more fun celebrating!

Also, I would've sung along with Somewhere Over the Rainbow. But no spicy food for me, sorry! (I know, more for you!)

And it's not a great photo, but can you spot FroZone's Ice Blast on the Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom card?

Ok, I'll be heading in in around an hour and a half. The good news is that I need a 30/100 to pass the class. The bad news is that sometimes I can be my own worst enemy. While I certainly don't expect perfection, I'd still love an A. But getting a 95/100 is about as likely as my Facebook page is to stop getting clogged up with political rhetoric and nonsense anytime before November.

I'll let you know at 10:00 PST....
(For those on FB who know me, it'll be right there between another story about Trump spouting off and Clinton wiping her server with a cloth.) I'll post something here too. Not much political nonsense here. Much happier place!!!

I guess you won't read this before your exam starts, but I will be thinking of you!! Wishing you a perfect 100/100!

That's got to take some of the pressure off.

Maybe a little?

So... no chance at all, huh?

Rock that exam, girl!

Hopefully I got in before you began your final, just wanted to say good luck! You got this! And yea final exam!!!!!

:cheer2::banana::cheer2::banana::cheer2::banana::cheer2::banana::cheer2::banana:

I missed commenting on the Z post, but I wanted to wish you luck on the final. I know you're probably in the home stretch so I hope it's going well!

A point very well made, Sir!

Cool! I'm glad you've had a chance to start this tradition!

Me too! And I'm glad they enjoy theater as much as I do!

Well, when you're right, you're right... :rotfl2:

And in matters of opinion, I usually am. :duck:

Oh wow... I'm glad you didn't overdo it this time.

My body parts thank me.

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: At least this mistake didn't get anybody dead.

And those are the best kind to make!

Ok... trying to figure this one out. So did you get a parking ticket at school and then drive all the way there with it still tucked under the wiper???

No, Silly. I got one because I didn't pay for parking at the restaurant. Then when I realized it, I'd already been walking for too long and was running late. Because Nursing Brain.

:lmao:

But it is. :rolleyes1

 Who let this guy in here, anyway?

Woohooo!!!! Are you sure you'll be here Wednesday? Because I'm thinking you'll be nursing yourself back from a hangover and barely making it to your meeting in time.

Not a chance. Went a a trashy dive bar that has free pool on Tuesdays, and had a BIG group toast. But then went to a nice lunch with my 4 besties and hung out for a while. Now I'm about to fold laundry. My house is a living, breathing pigsty.

It's just as cute as the first time I saw it! The Adorable-meter is pretty high on this one.

Time goes by so quickly now! 7 months is nothing.

It will be a very full 7 months. There are times I get rather terrified at having to actually BE the nurse all by myself!!

Cool. I can recommend another one to you now...

I was hoping you'd say that!

I need someone to explain the Melting Pot to me sometime. I love melted cheese and chocolate too, but isn't the rest of the meal just boiled meat? And why do they have a head chef if I'm cooking my own dinner?

Hmmm, that's a good question! I assume it's somewhat flavorful...? Is there a head chef?? Maybe I'm glad we went to Indian instead.

We all want what we can't have. Then we finally get it and wonder what all the fuss was about in the first place.:rotfl2:

Well stated!

So...let's not do that, then.

Where's' the fun in that!?

Nah. Sometimes your brain needs a break. I used to get to the point where I closed the books and said, "If I don't know it by now, I never will."

I got there about 3 days ago.... I only futzed around at studying knowing that there was only snowball's chance in Hell I'd get an A, but that it'd be pretty hard to actually get below a 75% as well.

The Republic of Nahtahzu.

Actually... NO. Yes, it's at AK, but be more specific.

Liesa did a fantastic job describing it so I'll just refer you to her reply!

Why thanks!

Always best to make homemade from scratch... I think the extra effort and love are essential ingredients.

Good luck on you Last Exam!!! Have fun with your study buddies, and even more fun celebrating!

Thanks!! We had a nice afternoon over lunch and drinks. :)

Also, I would've sung along with Somewhere Over the Rainbow. But no spicy food for me, sorry! (I know, more for you!)

Yep! More for me, but I gotta take it easy these days. Getting older stinks.

And it's not a great photo, but can you spot FroZone's Ice Blast on the Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom card?

I do, I do!!! Good choice!

Good luck on the last test! Hopefully you can enjoy the last study sessions!

Thanks! I enjoy my study sessions, but surely enjoy being done even more- well, at least for a week and a half.

I guess you won't read this before your exam starts, but I will be thinking of you!! Wishing you a perfect 100/100!

I actually did! Thanks! Not quite 100, but enough to pass and be free for a week and a half.

That's got to take some of the pressure off.

Maybe a little?

Enough that I really didn't study all that hard. Which in some ways was ok, because my Clinical Instructor says that it probably was a good indicator of Boards performance come June.

So... no chance at all, huh?

Rock that exam, girl!

Pretty much, no.

Hopefully I got in before you began your final, just wanted to say good luck! You got this! And yea final exam!!!!!

:cheer2::banana::cheer2::banana::cheer2::banana::cheer2::banana::cheer2::banana:

I actually did see it in time. Thanks for the cheer squad!

I missed commenting on the Z post, but I wanted to wish you luck on the final. I know you're probably in the home stretch so I hope it's going well!

A pass is a pass. :) It was definitely a long 2.5 hour exam, but I"m on the other side of it now, and about take a nap.
