The churros at Nomad Lounge are very tasty! They're naturally made to be gluten free (though don't let that fool you into thinking they're healthy! they're definitely not sugar free! lol) A little fancier and doughier than snack cart churros, but very good. They serve them with vanilla sauce and strawberry chilli sauce (or something like that. The strawberry one has something to give it a kick.) I definitely recommend dipping in both sauces at the same time.

I think I very well get those next time I pop in. YUM!

Oooh dear...it's liking picking a favourite child. Winnie the Pooh is very nostalgic for us. I suppose my favourite dark ride would possibly be Spaceship Earth? Haunted Mansion and Peter Pan make close seconds/thirds.

All super awesome choices! I hope they never change SE (or at least much!). HM and PP, of course, are pretty great! HM, might be my favorite.

My trips to DLR always seem very short. I know people say it's a one day park... I respectfully disagree.

I was seriously not prepared for the incredible job Imagineering did with this area. I honestly had no idea this was even a thing, I hadn’t read about California’s Halloween celebrations in advance, so all of this was brand new to me and I was like a little kid all over again seeing things for the first time. Everything was a fun surprise!

Wow, this all looks great! I agree-very clever.

Then again, if they’re over-selling tickets/entry, it could be a colossal bummer too.

Oh, come on. Disney would never do something like that.

It does nothing but make me want to quit my job and drive around the Desert Southwest taking in all of its grandeur. I suppose that’s what retirement is for…

What can I say about the new coaster? Track is the same, no changes, but the new storyline is great! I love the voices and cameos throughout. I didn’t experience it, but the tubes, according to this article have piped in Choco-chip cookie scent. They also serve to deflect noise from the ride and riders away from the residential/business side of the ride and back into the park, thus allowing for the attraction to meet noise abatement codes of the cities of Anaheim and Garden Grove.

Cool! I missed out on that ride in my one visit. Definitely need to go back and try it.

The appropriate answer should have been, “Because we will all feel like puking afterwards.”, but we threw caution to the wind (which is much better than lunch) and hopped on.

So...yay?

We then parted ways until that evening. Su-Lynn was just (almost literally) arriving from Singapore and was totally wiped out and jet-lagging so they took off to nap and get ready for dinner.

Singapore! Yes, that would be some serious jet lag.

I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to the close proximity and ease of getting from place to place at DLR!

Definitely one of the top 5 things about DLR.

Depends on if I want salty or sweet. So, churro or pretzel for me. Egg roll only if it's a cheese steak egg roll, because those are awesome.

Coaster all day.

Well, I like some music and don't like some. I like some art and don't like some. So it really depends on the particular exhibit/show.

I had no idea that the Incredibles Coaster was the longest inversion in the world. That'll be a fun fact to share with my fellow Disney lovers in the family.

The Coco displays were beautiful. I also didn't know the puppet held a meet and greet. That's a pretty unique opportunity.

I had done NO research about what might be going on during my trip and felt a bit behind in my knowledge, but Kari picked up the slack and clued me in.

The queen is slipping and had to have help from the princess?

We all definitely wanted the photo op with Miguel but had to wait until he buzzed over after his little song and dance show.

I've seen the movie once I think, but I thought his name was Coco.

Nope. To me, he's dressed as would be appropriate to be one of the crowd.

I was totally okay with that, and it turned out to be a really fun Meet and Greet with the Little Guy. His puppeteer was incredibly personable and made the brief interaction fun and easy.

Very cool. I don't think I've seen any like this where it was a CM controlling a puppet vs. a CM inside a costume. Unique.

All the pictures were great, but really like this one of you. You look so happy and relaxed.

No contest...pretzel. While I like eggrolls, usually want them with beef & broccoli or sweet & sour chicken or something else. Don't like churros. Too dry and powdery tasting to me.

Coaster...all day every day.

Probably t-shirt. While I have a few pairs of ears, they tend to gather more dust than see use. Plush? I presume you mean stuffed animal...not really a stuffed animal type.

This is a tough one. Each has their own attraction depending on what I'm in the mood for. I'm not much of a shopper and art has to be something I'm interested in, so I guess music show is more often.

Another tough one.
Boo to you parade, Wishes fireworks (or former MNSSHP fireworks) or fantasmic all rank in the top of what I like, so....
I guess, me like boom, so fireworks.

Funny story on MNSSHP...I have video too. There was a lady (girl) riding some type of motorized cycle. It broke down right in front of us. She kept trying to move, but it wasn't budging. They ended up having to call several people over to try to assist and eventually had a vehicle come over to tow it away. They finally got it into neutral and were able to push it instead, but it was sad for the girl...she kept her composure great, but you could tell she was a bit disappointed. The show, as they say, must go on...and it did.

but little did she know the plane would be half empty so I had a little karma party as I settled into my entire row for a 2-hour nap LAYING DOWN while we flew to Santa Ana.

Who needs first class when you have a whole row???

SCORE! She says folks leave them in her car all the time and she just gives them away. Yes, I tipped her well. Ironically, it was Kari who ended up using them for most of the trip because A) I need prescription sunnies (I forgot mine in my glovebox) and B) she had “lost” hers at Alison’s. (They ended up being found on Alison’s driveway the next day.)

We landed about 8:30 and were IN SW:GE and OFF MF:SR by 10:00!!!

Wow! That really is impressive!

Disney did a whiz-bang job on theming and Imagineering of details, but after spending 3 or 4 visits there now (including the Florida portions of my trip) I’m in no hurry to go back. The ride is fun, but nowhere near worth more than a 45ish-minute wait. The Play App stuff IS fun, building a droid IS fun (I’ll go into detail on this in a much later update) and photographing is nice, but after you’ve done it a few times, it is simply a gigantic money-grabbing blackhole. Oga’s is astronomically expensive, the merchandise likewise. It really feels like a giant, over-priced gift shop with cool theming.

This is what I'm afraid of. I love Star Wars, but I kind of found the whole Launch Bay thing to be in that same vein (an over-priced gift shop). I look forward to exploring Batuu, but it really does seem like there's just not much if you aren't willing to shell out some big bucks. While I'm not a Harry Potter fan, I think Universal did a better job of making that property more inclusive. Yes they're constantly selling you something, but you don't have to pay $200 for a lightsaber or a droid to really get everything out of the land and they do have some affordable items there.

Oga’s has a few precious table spots, but Imbiber beware! You WILL be seated with other travelers which could make for an awkward situation if you accidentally reach for your lightsaber at the wrong time... or, if you have a hard time blending into conversation with complete strangers. If so, ask to stand. I love meeting new people and love the tables, but know they are definitely not for everyone

Yeah... doesn't really sound appealing to me, honestly. And I wanted a Star Wars cantina.

Kari and I were escorted to the VERY far end of the bar, and as I took my place, I was scolded by the bar tender that I had to stay to the right of a black strip of rubber towards the end. That was space for the servers, not weary travelers. Which made me ask the question to my fellow traveler, “Why would they bring us in if there wasn’t enough room for us to stand here without having to smell each other’s breath?”

I need a drink!

I DO have a problem paying $15-$18 for something advertised as A COCKTAIL which typically (and should) have a standard pour of at least one SHOT of each alcohol they advertise. In a lot of ways, I feel that it is false advertising.

No, I said I need a drink! The kind with alcohol!

Anyway, I chose the Yub Nub with the souvenir cup for $35. Mind you, Dear Reader, the price has now increased to $45; not a bad return on my money and yes, I may sell it at some point. (They are going for about $80 right now on EBay.)

Well, sell the glass and then you can almost afford to buy 2 watered down drinks next time!!!

The Cliff Dweller is $32 so not much difference there in price alcohol vs. non… so there’s that.

Well then, see? No reason for that rant about being stingy on the alcohol. They'll charge you the same and be completely honest that you're paying $32 for ice, water and some flavoring.

Sorry, if the cynicism is dripping with this update. While I did enjoy the music and watching Rex spin the tunes, I found it to be very spendy, crowded, and with the slowest service in the galaxy. Yes, the bar is amazingly detailed and super fun to see. Yes, if you get a table and like to hang with new folks, it’s fun. Yes, it was fun to take my kids to, but…. once. I’d just rather spend my money on a souvenir pin next time unless another mug comes out that I just love.

Honestly, I get it. This is kind of what I was afraid some of this land might be (and you're certainly not the first to share some of these feelings.)

Would I go back to Disneyland to visit SW:GE again? No. Would I go back to California to ride HM at Halloweentime again? 100% yes.

Well, HM does look great with the overlay! I'm glad you got to check it out!

For the remainder of our short day in Disneyland, we focused on attractions that are unique to California or simply better in California… namely Pirates of the Caribbean, Snow White, Mr. Toad and It’s a Small World.

Lastly, we headed to the veeeeeeeeery back of the park for a spin on the Happiest Cruise that Ever Sailed. If you don’t believe me, take a peek!

I really do like the DL version. Everything about it is just better. I like the queue outside, the train going across the backdrop. It's special.

During the short hour or so we waited for Alison and Fran to pick us up, I will neither confirm nor deny a legit nap was taken. How could you not in an area such as this:

I had a few that I could easily make a case for. Even a couple that no longer exist. But I'm going to say BTMRR. I love rollercoasters and this was the first one I ever rode. It is ALWAYS a priority to get multiple rides on BTMRR anytime we go to Disney World.

Just a gushing Grammie reminder: My lovely daughter is due on Dec. 3rd and we had a nice baby shower for her last weekend. I'm so excited I could burst!

Instead of where normal Lyft drivers drop off on Harbor Blvd., ours was completely clueless and we ended up in the parking structure with 14 billion other tourons. After a nightmarish security stint, which made EPCOT look like a walk in the park (pun intended), and wherein my personal pull-tab alarm was confiscated ( major ) and the entirety of Kari’s wallet exploded all over the ground, we were whisked away by tram to the Entrance Mall.

That always makes me shake my head.
An airport gets built in the middle of nowhere. Urban sprawl brings homes around it. People complain that the airport is too loud.

Hmm, I think they probably were developed in tandem and at the park's inception it was mostly farmland. But, I think it's worthy to note that even when the homes were being built in the 60s and 70s, the park had nowhere near the noise level it does now. The music was softer, screams weren't really a thing as it was mostly dark rides and other indoor attractions, etc...

It was very unique and a fun Meet. I'm not a big character meet person, but have done a few more on my past trips than usual. This was by far the most "out there".

I'm pretty sure you're right, but I took a few seconds to try and read some, but they were 99% written in Spanish. And it was a lot more than names from what I could make out. Maybe tributes or memories in addition?

1. Depends... if the pretzel is just out of the oven and soft (with salt!!!! has to have salt!), then the pretzel. Otherwise... eggroll. Churro a very, very distant third.
2. That's a tough one, but... considering two of my fave rides are dark rides, I'll say that. (HM & PP)
3. T-shirt, I guess. I'll buy some from Harley shops... but don't buy any of the three at Disney.
4. Since all the merch shops are the same now... that's out. Probably art exhibit... but depends on the art. Photos? Yes! Glass? Yes! Modern art painting? Probably not.
5. With the exception of MNSSHParade... Fireworks.

1). The last several pretzels I've had at Disney were anything but what you've described. They were stale, tasteless and not worth the price. The best one I had at Disney was in AK one morning- the extinct cream cheese jalepeno pretzel. RIP. I sad. Eggrolls from the eggroll cart is on my BFB (Big Fat Bucket List); I need to make that happen. I actually super enjoy churros from DLR, but ONLY at DLR.

3) I'm not, as you know, a shopper either. When I do get a souvie, it's almost always a pin, although, I've made exceptions after imbibing a little too much on sweatshirts.

4) Yes, I'd agree. It does depend on the exhibit or the type of music. But, I'd also add that it depends on the setting. I don't normally listen to jazz, but adore it when I'm in New Orleans Square. And I generally detest opera, but recently actually made it a point to stop and watch/ listen to live opera- more on that in my TR at a much later date.

I can attest to that. Yes! They ARE! Softer, fresher and WAY more seasonal special ones.

2) Coaster, dark ride, or motion simulator? Coaster for sure. I love thrill rides.

Do you have a favorite one? Doesn't have to be Disney..

3) Plush, ears, or t-shirt? T-shirt. I have never gotten into the ears though I admire them on others .

Some of the ears lately are so creative! I love seeing the variety of them too, and love that they send a message as to favorite attractions or movie or such...

4) Music show, art exhibit, or another merchandise shop? Hmmmm none of the above ? If I had to pick - art exhibit

I love Disney Art stores! And I came across a nice art exhibit that I'll write about in the very next update.

5) Parade, fireworks, or nighttime show? Fireworks. Not a huge parade fan.

Me neither! They are a massive nuisance to me except the night ones, so yeah, probably fireworks.

I had no idea that the Incredibles Coaster was the longest inversion in the world. That'll be a fun fact to share with my fellow Disney lovers in the family.

I was pretty surprised too and love learning little factoids like that.

The Coco displays were beautiful. I also didn't know the puppet held a meet and greet. That's a pretty unique opportunity.

It was such a colorful, lovely area and exhibit! Miguel was so well done and cute!

The whole attraction and little area is themed off the movie Inside Out- a Disney movie that explores emotions and delves a fair bit into psychology and human memory. This is an excellent article on the psyhology of it, but my comment was more about Kari's portrayed mood in the photo.

Just to say we had. I do try to ride or do every experience at the Disney parks so I can know what people are talking about when they come up. I've never seen a BAD attraction at Disney (except Stitch), and while there are a few I don't care for, or aren't my taste, at least I can say I've done it.

We had to wait the 3 minutes for one cycle and were at the front of the line for the next one. I took those while waiting that one spin.

No contest...pretzel. While I like eggrolls, usually want them with beef & broccoli or sweet & sour chicken or something else. Don't like churros. Too dry and powdery tasting to me.

I think you'd change your mind with the DLR churros though. They are very fresh and full of flavor. Sometimes they even come with a dipping sauce of some sort- choco or caramel or such.

This is a tough one. Each has their own attraction depending on what I'm in the mood for. I'm not much of a shopper and art has to be something I'm interested in, so I guess music show is more often.

I admit it was a very tough question! Totally depends on my mood too. Or what I'm passing or doing at the time. I guess I tend to live in the moment and enjoy the place I'm at, but given a choice, and all 3 were in front of me, I'd choose the music probably.

Funny story on MNSSHP...I have video too. There was a lady (girl) riding some type of motorized cycle. It broke down right in front of us. She kept trying to move, but it wasn't budging. They ended up having to call several people over to try to assist and eventually had a vehicle come over to tow it away. They finally got it into neutral and were able to push it instead, but it was sad for the girl...she kept her composure great, but you could tell she was a bit disappointed. The show, as they say, must go on...and it did.

OH my! That is funny! I'd have felt so badly for her. It's hard to keep one's composure under those types of circumstances.
