The 5 trips of My "Disney Free Year" - A Mermaid, A Buzz, A Boat and A Steak - 7/8

Wish that I got over to the Studios to see the Tangled stuff over there. I'm sure by the time I finally get back they'll have switched it to Cars 2 or whatever movie comes after that. It seemed like wherever we went in December, there was absolutley nothing Tangled there except for what few souvenirs were left.

Enjoyed the One Man's Dream pics. Can't wait to go back and see it again since they've added more to it (I know the EPCOT display and Rocketeer stuff weren't there last time I went).

Sounds like one disappointment after another in the afternoon. Hope the day picked up fpr you after this.

Their expressions after One Man's Dream crack me up. I gotta tell you..I spent a lot of time in there on my last trip. So I would've been there with you :thumbsup2 It is just too cool to see all of those things!

From reading the few previous reports I was able to find, I was expecting to receive an ornament or something as a departing gift. No dice. Not that I feel that we deserve something, and I do understand that we’re in a recession, but I think DH put it best, “Enjoy that $20,000 rice krispy treat”

It just felt like “we have your money already, so whatevs – get a cavity - on us”

********************************

Oh that cracked me up :rotfl2: But I totally agree with you! :thumbsup2

Glad I can help out with the Margarita time -- I am all about that! In fact, Thursdays is my wine and Jersey Shore night -- my favorite night of the week! :woohoo:

I feel your pain with the snow -- I live in Philly and every week since Christmas we have had snow or ice -- It has been horrible -- I think I am ready to go out of my mind!!!!!

Anyway -- 46 more days until Spring and even less until Spring Training! Go Phillies!!!!!:cheer2:

So glad you made it through the blizzard. I had a snow day yesterday too. What did I do???? Clean. Lots of fun right but hey I figure now I don't have to do it this weekend. We had about 10 inches in Sheboygan too but the drifts were awful.

yay! so happy you are still alive!
my husband is down there right now, working. hes working nights at the power plant in Racine. he got done at 4 am, and said that there were abandoned cars everywhere in the road including the intersections! he had to drive on the wrong side of the road most of the way back to the hotel- then he had to dig through a four foot snow drift with tupperware just to get into the parking lot! im so glad it didnt come up here!!!
he also stood in line outside walmart for his turn to go in- apparently only like 5 employees made it into the building so they were only allowing a dozen or so people in at a time! nutters!

Oh my, that sounds awful! I'm so glad he's okay. I'm sure it was not fun, but the mental image of your DH shoveling a drift with tupperware. He's such a trooper! I wold have just been like screw it!

We only saw Tangled stuff in the animation pavilion - they didn't seem to be promoting it too much. The stuff in the animation pavilion was really cute - it made me want to see the movie! Hopefully they keep it up for a while and you get a chance to see it.

I could have spent hours in One Man's Dream. They had really fun memorabilia. It was a good time waster.

Normally, I'm a huge DHS fan. But I realized it is because we ride RnRC and ToT multiple times, and DH and I like wandering around and looking at the exhibits. When you eliminate those two rides, and have impatient people, there's really not much that appeals to me there. It was a huge disappointment.

I can't wait to go back with DH and look at the stuff more closely. The fam just wasn't having it. Though this is from the group that got bored looking at the antiquities at the Louvre.

Panic leaves near the NJ/PA border, so she's been experiencing most of the same weather you are. Not fun at all! I hate February - I always get cabin fever. No more snow PLEASE!

I am hoping to cure it with a a Caribbean cruise and a trip to Margaritaville in Key West next week :cutie:

:rotfl: Were you snowed in with my mother too?? :rotfl::rotfl: I agree, cleaning on your snow day not super fun, but at least now it is clean. I'm so over snow. Bring on Spring!

I'm caught up again :goodvibes Your wedding pictures are lovely :bride:
Happy 1 year Anniversary!

Thanks so much!

After our drinks, we decided to grab some dinner at the Poly. We weren’t super hungry, so DH, Panic, and I decided to get some Sushi from the Sushi Bar, and Queenie and Grumpy went to Capitan Cooks.

The sushi was okay. Not great. I should have gotten something from Captian Cooks instead!

So we headed to my favorite store, the BouTiki. I was on a mission to find something warm to wear. I already have a Disney World sweatshirt, so I was looking for something kind of subtle and warm.

I found it at the BouTiki, a nice grey fleece with small embroidered Mickey and Minnie on front – and they had it in my size (for whatever reason, this is a huge deal for me at Disney – it is hard to find larger sizes in the parks) I was a little hesitant because it was $55, so I showed Queenie. She looked at it and said, hmm… I think I’ll get it.

And before I knew it she was at the counter buying my jacket for herself! This is why we call her Queenie. Seriously. So I kept looking, but I couldn’t find anything else I wanted, so I just sucked it up and we headed out.

(For the record, since we've been home, I've worn the jacket 3 times, and she has worn it 0 times :lmao:)

We were greeted by the torch lighting ceremony.

IMG_1756.jpg

I bet this guy was cold too!

IMG_1757.jpg

IMG_1758.jpg

Then we headed to the bus. Look she stole your jacket

IMG_1759.jpg

What is so bizarre, is that she was so proud she found it. Oh Queeenie.

IMG_1762.jpg

What a meanie!

IMG_1766.jpg

IMG_1765.jpg

Soon we were back at DHS..

And we headed straight to TSM.

Catching up, again -- the story of my life around here!

Glad you survived Snowicaine! And happy anniversary -- I love your wedding pics!

Ah, the Poly...maybe the most magical Disney resort there is?

I often have that problem with DHS...I love RNR, TOT, TSM, and One Man's Dream, but it's a much harder park for me to be happy just strolling around in. Not sure why that is?

And I have just learned for myself how much chilly weather can affect a Disney trip. I'm not sure if I'll ever rush back in January, for that reason. (Of course, this could be the winter doldrums talking. I need some warmth and sunshine, please! Right now! I am sick to death of winter precipitation!)

Too funny about your mom stealing your jacket!

I really like Boutiki too. I bought quite a few things in there when we went last year!

Great trip report. I love your style of writing. I stayed up way past by bedtime reading it last night. I am surprised I didn't wake up my husband giggling. Boutiki has been added to my list of shopping experinces for my March trip. It has been several years since I have been to the Poly.

Lucy

I was thinking when I read about the jacket you found that Queenie snatched it up so she could buy the jacket for YOU :thumbsup2 ANd then you continue she kept it for herself :lmao:

Queenie was being a meanie :rotfl2:

Cruise? Really??? I am so jealous!!!!!!!!! I want to hear more about that when you get back!!!! Have fun and say hi to Margaritaville for me!

Well, see if you'd stop going to Disney - maybe you could keep up with my report :lmao:

Yes, Snowacaine 2011 is done and dusted - thank goodness! I hate February. I can handle the snow in December and January - but by February, I'm like get me to the Caribbean ASAP! I can't stand the snow anymore!

I agree with you about DHS. I think it is "studio lot" feel to it. It is a bunch of buildings and sets instead of the prettiness of the other parks. I feel like the clear roads some how make it longer and harder to walk in. Weird - right?

I love going in January/February (not that I'm biased at all) I think if you are expecting the chilliness it is fine - but if you're like "ooh Florida = warm" it just sucks.

Too funny about your mom stealing your jacket!

That's my mother for you. I'm not sure what it is about the BouTiki but it is such a great store.

Lucy

Hi Lucy! Thanks for reading - glad you didn't wake your DH. My experience is they aren't super understanding when you squeal and wake them up with the excuse "it's the Disboards" :confused3 But maybe that's just my DH :lmao:

Yay for your March trip! If you can, definitely stop by the Poly. The BouTiki is great! As is the CS and both TS restaurants Not to mention everything about the Poly ever, except for the rooms.:rotfl:

I was thinking when I read about the jacket you found that Queenie snatched it up so she could buy the jacket for YOU :thumbsup2 ANd then you continue she kept it for herself :lmao:

Queenie was being a meanie :rotfl2:

:lmao::lmao: Honestly, I had the same thought when she grabbed it from me :lmao::lmao: And I should know better! DH was jokingly calling her Meanie Queenie all night. It was pretty funny!

Cruise? Really??? I am so jealous!!!!!!!!! I want to hear more about that when you get back!!!! Have fun and say hi to Margaritaville for me!

Yep - we are outta here on Thursday! Sunshine here we come. I'll definitely tell the 'ville you say hi :rotfl2:

I'm seriously contemplating doing a little non-Disney bonus "Panic and Joanna conquer the high seas" at the end of this report. We'll see...

Also, speaking of Joanna/Panic adventures... we are seriously seriously seriously considering a Disney adventure in April. We'll see how it goes :rotfl:

So, we headed into TSM, and walked right into the FP line. I just love all the props in the TSM line. It is so fun!

I want to color damnit!

IMG_1770.jpg

What’s wrong Panic?

IMG_1771.jpg

We were so close.

IMG_1773.jpg

Then we waited…
IMG_1774.jpg

and waited….

IMG_1775.jpg

It didn’t seem as though we were moving.

Then we heard the announcement that the ride was down temporarily.

Then we saw matinence workers coming into the ride.

Then we watched them evacuate the ride.

Then they evacuated the line too.

So close I could almost taste it.

IMG_1776.jpg

They said they’d give us all fast passes, but waited and didn’t get any, so we figured we were just SOL...

Next, we decided to head to the Fantasmic line. Finally after 6 trips, we were going to make it to Fantasmic!

My dad summed it up pretty well Mickey shows up..

IMG_1777.jpg

And everything is good.

IMG_1778.jpg

IMG_1780.jpg

IMG_1781.jpg

I just love the way the kid in front of me’s Mickey ears glow in this picture.

IMG_1782.jpg

Is is just me, or do the projections on the water seem really cheap and totally 90s?

IMG_1783.jpg

IMG_1784.jpg

Freaky-Trippy Monkeys!

IMG_1786.jpg

IMG_1789.jpg

IMG_1790.jpg

IMG_1791.jpg

Ahhh love…

IMG_1792.jpg

IMG_1793.jpg

IMG_1794.jpg

IMG_1795.jpg

IMG_1797.jpg

Then, something goes terribly wrong….

IMG_1798.jpg

IMG_1799.jpg

IMG_1801.jpg
IMG_1807.jpg

But Mickey and the Power of Dreams come through

IMG_1808.jpg

IMG_1809.jpg

IMG_1810.jpg

Then suddenly the floor on the stadium gave out

IMG_1811.jpg

Okay that’s better

IMG_1812.jpg

IMG_1813.jpg

IMG_1814.jpg

Then all of the Characters rejoiced that Mickey saved the day

IMG_1820.jpg

IMG_1821.jpg

IMG_1822.jpg

IMG_1823.jpg

Hey you… yeah I’m talking to you… I know you’re scrolling… there could be something really important to the story here…

IMG_1824.jpg

IMG_1825.jpg

But there’s not so keep on scrollin’ baby!

IMG_1828.jpg

IMG_1829.jpg

That's really too bad that you waited all that time to use those TSM fastpasses and never got to ride. At least it sounds like you enjoyed Fantasmic for the most part.

That sucks about TSM! So close!

So...do you love Fantasmic? I've only been once, years ago, and all I really remember about it is how much those benches hurt after a while! Since then, it hasn't seemed worth all the crowds to me. But sometimes I feel like I might be missing out?

HI!
Just found your TR this morning and spent the last hour or so reading through!!!
So now I'm caught up!!
We were at WDW on Dec. 27 - Jan 1st and we really beat the crowds by being up for the rope drops and using the EMH's!

I was glad to read that your opinion of the movie at WD - one man's dream was not a big deal as we decided to skip that!!

I look forward to more updates and photos!! :thumbsup2

Debbie

I've never done Fantasmic. It looks kind of fun though!

That stinks about TSM. I wish you'd gotten your fastpasses :(
