The 5 trips of My "Disney Free Year" - A Mermaid, A Buzz, A Boat and A Steak - 7/8

Are the pictures from my last post coming through? They don't for me, but they do on Chris's computer. Sorry if you can't see them. They're really riveting!

Okay, I was totally thinking that if I was in the same situation, I would have some less than Disney friendly words to say too!

No need to worry about looking pathetic drinking alone. I would have done the same thing and I'm sure no one noticed. ;)

Yeah, it wasn't a pretty sight.

I'm sure no one noticed either, but I was feeling ditched, so that made me think that everyone was staring at me - cuz I'm so awesome :cool2:

Wow, you are updating this report so fast! I'm keeping up though!

Hahaha yeah, I've never spent much time in America for very long. I once saw the Grass Roots there, which was pretty cool! Since they have the pretzels there, maybe I'll stop to get one of them too! (I know this probably sounds pretty terrible of me, but I just really never found it to be an interesting pavilion. But to be fair, I've never seen Voices of Liberty or the show that I forget the name of at the moment. Should I give it a fair shot? Or just keep walking to Mitsukoshi and look at the fun candies like I usually do?)

Meh. I wouldn't have felt pathetic drinking alone in Epcot! The chocolate crepe is one of my favorites! I'm hoping you started having a more fun afternoon!

Glad you're keeping up. :goodvibes Don't worry, I'll slow down soon, I'm just on a roll. Trying to get the yucky parts over with quick

The voices of liberty were really good. If you need a rest and like folk music (like Old Suzanna) then I highly recommend them. I also highly recommend skipping out of the American Adventure Show because it's extra lame!

I got over the whole drinking alone thing. I think it was specifically that spot, I was angled so I was facing the resturant, and the little bar area was jammed there were people looking for tables. I felt really on display, as people kept taking my extra chairs. :rotfl:

As I enjoyed my beverage, I contemplated going back to Future World, but on a whim decided to head to the International Gateway instead.

I upgraded my ticket to a park hopper. The CM who did it was so nice and sweet. And put my name on my ticket as “Princess Joanna” how cute!

DSCN1769.jpg

There was a Friendship boat waiting, so I hopped on.

See I wasn’t all grumpy. Alcohol usually makes me smile!

Originally, I was planning on hopping off at the Boardwalk and going to the Animal Kingdom, but I realized it was past 3:30, and the AK closed at 5, so I stayed on and headed to DHS.

Bored? I shake my feathers at you!

DSCN1782.jpg

I headed over to Star Tours. This was my first ride since the refreb.

DSCN1783.jpg

DSCN1787.jpg

It’ is great! Although, the 3-D graphics make me a little dizzy – they seem blurry, even with the glasses.

There was no line, so I hopped on it again!

Ummm…. Nerd alert I took a TON of pictures. I crossed something off my list and just let people pass me. So to paraphrase Yoda, May the scroll be with you!

Somebody finally realized Rex was defective. It’s okay, I still love you Rex!

DSCN1800.jpg

The queue detail is really fun in the new ride!

DSCN1801.jpg

Both times, there were little kids begging to go on the ride again, and people chatting about what destinations they’d seen. I haven’t been on a ride that generated that kind of buzz in a while. I hope it lasts!

I not laughing at your hubby, but laughing because I think my hubby would forget stuff if wasn't around to "help" him out!

Nice chocolate thingy...what was it?

I love that the CM put Princess Joanna on your ticket! How awesome is that. I'm glad that you liked Star Tours. I liked it a lot too and while I liked the original, I think the update is a lot of fun.

well im all caught up now.
i FINALLY went on my trip!!!!!!! so now i actually know what your talking about in your trip reports!!! yay!
so this is a kind of bummer trip report starting out. On our trip, while we were at Animal Kingdom for the day my husband had to leave at about 1 to do some work related things, and i was alone until like 6 when we met back up at Boma. It is fun all alone, running amok, but i took some photopass pictures alone and it was kind of a bummer.
im thinking of doing a trip report but they seem like a lot of work. ill keep you posted!

I can see the pictures. ;)

That is awesome your ticket said Princess Joanna. I hope you saved it. hehe

I might have to try the new Star Tours (but I never even did the old version...:rolleyes1).

It's okay you can laugh at him. And point too  Yeah, men can be so amazingly helpless can't they :confused3

That was a chocolate crepe from the little kiosk in France. Yummy!

I know!! Finally someone saw me for who I really am princess:

I too liked the original, but it was cool in the campy sense. There's something really fun and kind of thrilling about the new version. I'm definitely a fan!

Yay for your trip! Hope you had tons of fun! Being alone at Disney can be fun (it's more fun when it's pre-planed and by choice... but still :cutie:) but I would agree, at points it felt a little lonely.

Ohh, if you do a TR you definitely have a reader! But I would agree, they can be a lot of work.

I can see the pictures. ;)

I totally saved my princess joanna ticket. I had a lot of encounters with CMs this trip, that were just silly little things like that that happened when I was in a really bad mood and totally turned my frown upside down :upsidedow

After a few spins on Star Tours, I planned on heading over to the Muppets, but I wanted to check out the unused queue area first.

Note to Chris – this is the type of Piping/venting that I can get into!

It’s really too bad this area isn’t used, it is really well themed! Like in my opinion one of the best themed areas in all of DHS (which actually isn’t saying much) Maybe with the new Muppets movie coming out, they’ll decide to put some money into referbing the attraction, and then people will want to go on it, and the line will be used.

Anyway, I got to the end of the line, and Grumpy called, so, I just exited at the end of the line (it dumps you off by the P&F meet & Greet) and found a seat and talked to him for a bit.

I’m innocent I tells ‘ya. Innocent.

I really loved the Muppets! It just shows when you grew up I think. My 7 yr old didn't have clue who they were, besides Kermit & Miss Piggy, but she loved it too. She thought the "2 old guys" in the balcony were the funniest!

I just saw your updates! woo hoo! I'm glad you are back on here!

I would be sooooo mad if my DF missed his flight! What a fiasco! But at least it seems like you are making the most of the day :thumbsup2

I'm excited to read more!

Okay, seriously, how have I never seen the poster with Beaker on it that says "In space, no one can hear you meep"??

Pure awesomeness. :lmao:

water fountain=bubbler.
love it.
i loved the muppet area and i was also really hping they would do more with it having the movie out soon. oh well. one can hope. I liked all the muppet music that was piped through and i spent extra time in the area just to listen to it.

began my trip report. you make it look easy. will go as long as i can before i get frustrated. haha.

That would be great if with the new movie coming out they did more with that back queue. I love the posters back there, they're so funny! (This door is alarmed! And genuinely concerned! :rotfl:)

I think its so sad that kids don't know the muppets! I just LOVE the old muppet shows. They're so timeless and just genuinely funny.

Yep, I'm back. This summer has been so busy it was hard to keep up.

I'm not sure mad is quite descriptive enough. It was pretty much a nuclear meltdown. But how can you not have fun at Disney - even if you're in a bad mood. :cutie:

Because it is in the stupidest most hidden place. Ever. To the right of the entrance there's an unused queue area that is just awesome.

I want a tshirt that says that... It's pretty awesome.

There was music :confused3 Man. Now I need to go back, I LOVE muppet music. It was pretty crowded, so maybe that's why I couldn't hear it.

Hopefully they will do something. The muppets totally deserve better.

Yay!! Off to read your TR and avoid laundry. Yay!

I hope they do something with the movie coming out. It is such a waste of wonderful theming!

Next, I headed to American Idol for the finale show.

DSCN1829.jpg

No Scotty, I swear, I’m really here.

DSCN1828.jpg

DSCN1827.jpg

They were “taping” the pre-showwhen I arrived.

DSCN1833.jpg

I’ve seen 3 shows now and all 3 times, the person who has the pre-show crowds shots is the person that wins. Not that I think they didn’t deserve to win, but I do think they don’t explain that very well and some people think that they HAVE to vote for that person. Like they cheer loudly and sufff even before they sing. It makes it seem kind of fixed.

DSCN1837.jpg

DSCN1844.jpg

DSCN1839.jpg

DSCN1843.jpg

The pre-show seemed to really drag on. Maybe I was just anxious for Chris to come.

DSCN1845.jpg

Then the five contestants came out, and they were all pretty good.

DSCN1847.jpg

The last girl to sing was the winner… (in the pink)
She was from Hawaii I think?

DSCN1849.jpg

After AI, the park was closing soon, so I decided to head back to the hotel to grab some dinner and wait for Chris.

DSCN1850.jpg

I found that getting off at the main building was the easiest stop to get off at. All of the other stops seemed really far away. And the main building and got some sandwich thingy from Artist pallet. It was not good. I walked back to the room, still happily oblivious to what was waiting for me.

DSCN1853.jpg

I got to the room and I got the call. The ticket agent had actually ticketed him for the 1:30 flight to Atlanta, but he though it was the 7:00 flight, so they wouldn’t let him on the 7:00 flight, he had to be re-ticketed, and then he missed the flight (again) And he got mad and just left the airport… so he wasn’t coming. At all.

Yep. I was ditched at Disney World. I'll be honest. My reaction looked like this

Explosion-psd12997.png

Now, admittedly, there are worse places to be ditched, but I was not happy. I’m not proud of what happened next, but there was basically a meltdown of epic proportions.

He kept saying that I told him I was going to go with or without him so it shouldn’t matter. I tried to explain that I was fine with a solo trip, but I would want to plan it as a solo trip and be in the mindset that I was choosing to go solo, not that I was ditched. It just wasn’t pretty at all, so we’re just going to skip over the whole scene.

I went to bed and I really had no idea what I was going to do. Do I stay? Do I go home? I canceled all of the ADRs that we had. I wasn’t sure what I’d do, but I knew I didn’t want to explain why my reservation for 2 had become 1 a bunch of times, so I was a free agent.

Oh no....I really didn't see that one coming!!! You're right, there are absolutely worse places than Disney to be ditched, but oh I wouldn't have been thrilled about that turn of events either!!!

I sincerely hope you decided to stay and adopt the mindset of "I'm going to have the super-awesomest time ever, and now my trip is going to be even MORE awesome!"

OH NO! I hope you stayed and had a good time! I would have be sad, but I think I would try to do some things that new!

On the cute side of things, I started my TR!

Wow. That just blindsided me reading it, I couldn't imagine how you felt when it actually happened to you. I'm so sorry. :sad2:

You are right though, there are worse places to be ditched then Disney. You're right though, planning a solo trip is different then being ditched on a trip. Not cool man, not cool.
