The 5 J's Go Back to Disney *6/7* We're home :( But the TR has been started!!

I went in yesterday morning and signed all my papers, so it's official. I am a NICU nurse. :yay: Though it won't be officially official until I pass my boards and have my license.

I will start either June 25 or July 10 depending on when I take the boards and get my license. I still can't believe it - I feel like I need to pinch myself.

The first week of hospital orientation, I'll work 8-4:30 M-F. Then I will be working days (7a-7p) while I orient to the unit for a few months. Then they will evaluate the needs of the unit to see if I stay on days or go to nights (7p-7a). I kind of hope I go to nights, because I think it will be easier child-care wise and there is a nice shift differential :thumbsup2 But then again, I am not sure how my body will adjust to all that. I am not going to worry at all though. Whatever is meant to be will be.

God is so good. I feel so unworthy. He has always been so faithful to me. He provided everything I needed to get this degree. Every door that closed, He either forced it open or showed me how to crawl through a window. :goodvibes I am so grateful and just want to do everything in my power to bring glory to Him.

I am so excited to have the opportunity to touch so many people's lives. I know I keep saying this, but it truly does feel like a dream. I mean, how many people can honestly say they LOVE their job? If I had gotten a position elsewhere, I would have enjoyed my job because I enjoy being a nurse and helping other people. But working in the NICU...every shift that I've worked there during my preceptorship has been something I truly looked forward to. And now I get to do it and GET PAID, TOO!!! :cloud9: Wow. I am so blessed. Thank you Jesus.

This week will be a rollercoaster of emotion. Graduating is awesome but it is also the end of a very important chapter in my life. :sad1: And much as I hope it doesn't happen, I know that some people I have grown to love will fade from my life. Plus it's just a huge change to be DONE with school and on to the next chapter of my life.

So...

Now that the graduation is over with, it's time to get on with the graduation TRIP!:woohoo:

DH has two watches on ebay and he sold a car part last week. Problem is, the person who won the car part never responded and now has -1 feedback:rolleyes: and the two people bidding on the two watches both have 0 feedback and joined in the past 30 days:sad2: Totally sucks because we were hoping for that money for some "cushion" spending money (that if we don't spend will go towards our CC debt when we get back). People suck sometimes.

I'm also not ready for this weekend's yard sale. So I've got to push it back to next weekend. Again. But this is the last time I can do that, since...

 We leave in 15 days!!

14 1/2, actually ;)

Anyway, I am really feeling the stress. So much to do, so little time. Jory is going to a friend's house tomorrow after school so I will have the WHOLE DAY to myself til 3pm. I need to really make myself have a super productive day.

So here's what I need to accomplish before we leave:
  • Price yard sale stuff
  • Organize yard sale stuff
  • Have yard sale (duh)
  • Arrange mail delivery to stop
  • Have DH cut the lawn the day before we leave
  • Clean house top to bottom (there is nothing worse than coming home to a dirty house and vice versa!)
  • Have DH call Coral Reef to arrange for diver ;)
  • Get new Epipen for DH
  • Refill meds for myself and Jayden
  • Set up online bill payments for our mortgage, car insurance, etc that are due while we are away
  • Contact POR with requests and let them know we'll be arriving after dinnertime
  • Find out Jessica's exam schedule and see if we can switch it up to skip the last day of school altogether and leave earlier
  • Get another memory card (or two)
  • Get a battery charger and batteries for my camera
  • Tie dye 5 shirts
  • Decide on a design for our other T shirts
  • Study TGM and print lots of stuff for our daily park itineraries (you'd think I would have done this months ago:rolleyes1 )
  • Return the many things I've bought that don't fit LOL (It's so hard to shop for these kids anymore!)
  • Get new pair of Croc's for me??
  • Finish the last few pages of my 2005 Disney scrapbook
  • PACK!!!! (which I've started already, thank God!)
  • Clean out my car thoroughly (we're swapping with MIL and using her minivan to drive down, so I want to make sure it's nice and clean for her)
  • Go tan 2-3 times?? (probably not but it would be nice!)
  • Have a pedicure (I am going to treat myself to this next week!!)
  • Lose 30 pounds

OK so maybe not that last one:rolleyes: :rotfl:

I am sure I am forgetting a half dozen things. Not to mention the non-trip things I need to do, like mail off my paperwork to take my boards:) I took pics of the shirts we got at the Disney store. Right now I'm installing the software for my camera, so I'll post those pics later.

I can't wait to just go to Disney! I can't believe that in exactly 15 days, we will be arriving at POR!!!! :cheer2:

Congrats again on getting the job! That is so great!
The Lord is good. You worked hard ---- you deserve the job of your dreams. Those little babies need someone like you!

Ebay is drama! We sell on ebay, too and it can be a pain sometimes. Maybe those new ebayers who are bidding will surprise you and actually pay for the watches.

Good luck with the yard sale----we are going to have one this month, too! I hope you all get lots of moolah!

Boy that is quite a list, and I thought mine in my head was crazy and we have more than double the days you do. It's funny, no matter how long the list is, we always get them done, one step at a time. Hang in there.
I agree, the Lord is so good, I am so happy to see you giving glory to him in your post and I wish you all the best in your NICU job, you will be an angel for all of those little lives placed in your care, bless you for that. As I said, my Lauren was in a NICU after her premature birth so I have the utmost respect for what you do. CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!!! :cheer2:

Thank you! Well, the one bidder dropped their bid:rolleyes: saying they bid too high. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. I miss the way ebay used to be way back when. Good luck with your sale too!

It's amazing how much work it takes to take a vacation:lmao: It's all worth it in the end! I never imagined that I had the "stuff" to be a NICU nurse and now it's all I can imagine doing :cloud9: It's just so amazing, and of course, God had it all planned out way before I had any idea! He is so awesome.

I have pictures finally!

Here are Jayden's shirts
47b7db29b3127cce8439db7ae75300000026108AbtWrJk5YtW

And Jory's
47b7db29b3127cce8439db86e7af00000026108AbtWrJk5YtW

Most of them were $2.49 and then 15% off of that. You can't get shirts that cheap at Walmart, and these are so much better quality. I will try to get pics of my shirts, Jessica's shirts, and the other odds and ends I got tomorrow.

[*]Arrange mail delivery to stop

You know you can do that online, right? link

[*]Clean house top to bottom (there is nothing worse than coming home to a dirty house and vice versa!)
I'm with you on this one, but also don't want to spend my last day of work packing up my classroom, then coming home to clean up my house. And since the classroom has to be done.... house will probably be passable and no more.

[*]Tie dye 5 shirts
Um yeah. Get cracking on that one, girl! I want pictures.

[*]Study TGM and print lots of stuff for our daily park itineraries (you'd think I would have done this months ago:rolleyes1 )
If it makes you feel any better, I'm a die hard TGMer and I still find myself changing my touring plans daily as new information comes out. And as I change my mind...

[*]Get new pair of Croc's for me??
A girl can never have too many pairs of Crocs in my book. I'm taking 4 pair. And thinking I might buy another while we're there...

OK, I'm getting tired and reading your to-do list is adding things to my to-do list. I refuse to pack until the day before we leave, though, so you're a step ahead of me there. It's all getting so close now!

Congratulations on the graduation and the job! I am happy for you!

Great Pre-TR as well. I loved the idea of the Tide pen! DW is always getting stuff on her shirt (don't tell her I told you though). I think I will make it a gift before we leave! (Can you have it on an airplane?)

Your family is beautiful! Look around when you are there for a bald headed guy with a goatee (I get to cut my hair before we leave, YAY!) who is grinning like an idiot and it will probably be me! It would be an honor to meet you and your family!

Keep up the great work!

Thank you! You just helped me check one thing off my list:thumbsup2

I went to Mike's this morning and they finally got more Soda Ash in stock, so I am ready to go with that.:goodvibes

Thank you for the congrats and compliments on my family! We'd love to meet your crew.

Tide to Go pens are my new best friend! I have several - one in my purse, one in my car, one in the clipboard I use at work (:yay: ), one in DD's purse... They rock! Not sure about on a plane:confused3 We don't really fly much, though DD flies to see her dad next month :(

I stopped at Best Buy this morning and picked up two 2GB memory cards on sale for $25 each. I had $23 left on a BB gift card, so it only cost me around $30. Can't beat that.

Then I got the Soda Ash from Mike's as I mentioned above, so we are one step closer to having tie dyed shirts :) I decided that I am not making transfer shirts for DH or myself, but I will make them for the kids. Still have to find a design though.

I returned a couple things to Target also, but I still have some more stuff to return so I can't cross that off my list, yet.

OK so since I've now crossed a few things off my list  here is the revision.

  • Price yard sale stuff
  • Organize yard sale stuff
  • Have yard sale (duh)
  • Have DH cut the lawn the day before we leave
  • Clean house top to bottom (there is nothing worse than coming home to a dirty house and vice versa!)

  • Go tan 2-3 times?? (probably not but it would be nice!)
  • Have a pedicure (I am going to treat myself to this next week!!)
  • Buy DVD player for car? Target $149 for Audiovox 7" dual screen with video game hookups

Hopefully, it will get systematically shorter and shorter, though I have a feeling that as I subtract things from the list, I will find things to add to it as well:rolleyes: :rotfl:

As you can see, I did add something to the bottom, but it's a "maybe". As in, maybe we'll get it if we do well on the yard sale. The kids would be thrilled and it sure would make the car ride a lot more tolerable for everyone.

We borrowed one last time and it was nice. Of course, there were the obligatory spats about who gets to pick first and all that, but it was all good. And of course, we don't let them watch for the entire ride! We've got to take advantage of all that alone time:lmao: But seriously, it is good quality family time...for a while. Then everyone starts to get on each other's nerves, and popping in a movie or plugging in a video game is the perfect cure!:thumbsup2

So does anyone know of a better deal on one?

I just now got a phone call from Jayden's teacher letting me know he is Terrific Kid for this month:woohoo: How awesome! He will be so excited. So we have to go tomorrow @ 8am to the award presentation. He will get a certificate and some goodies donated from local businesses. Oh and I get a cool bumper sticker ;) I had one from Jessica when she was in elementary school (she got TK twice) but it was on my minivan before it went to minivan heaven. I am so proud of him!:cool2:

OK time to go tackle this house. I really need to power clean because it is a pitiful mess right now and the laundry pile just grows and grows no matter how much I try to keep up. It's like the house is alive or something! (Ever seen Monster House?:rotfl: ) It is entirely possible that the house may swallow me up, so if I don't post in a day or so, please send help. :scared:

You still have time to get it all done~although it can seem overwhelming! Sometimes you just need a vacation from planning the vacation. Although planning for me is half the fun!:woohoo:

Yesterday I did NINE loads of laundry. :laundy: I still have a load in the washer and one in the dryer that is waiting to be folded.:rolleyes1

LOADS of pics, of course ;) I definitely need a vacation from the past couple of weeks :sad2: I am actually looking forward to our long drive so I can just sit and chill (as much as my three kids will allow in close quarters:rotfl: ). Thanks for the congrats on Jayden - he was so proud (and so are we!).

I am having a bit of a panic attack right now. And I am at my wits' end with Jessica:sad2:

I emailed my daughter's teachers last week to ask about the goings-on for the last day of school. She is in 8th grade and for all the years she has been in school, they did not do actual school work on the last day of school. In fact, I never remember having to do actual work on that day myself but my memory may be failing me:rolleyes:

Anyway, this morning, I got news that makes my stomach hurt...bad. She has an exam that day from 1:30-3:45pm!!!! The last two hours of her last day of middle school. I know that teachers on the DIS might stone me for being aggravated, but I am. That is ridiculous IMO. There have been plenty of days in the past two weeks that they haven't done much work at all. They've watched movies in a couple classes. So there is really no reason AT ALL that they had to push those exams right to the VERY END of the stinking school year. I emailed back to ask if there was any way possible for her to take that exam earlier in the day. No response yet. That was actually her guidance counselor's suggestion when we approached this topic way back in SEPTEMBER. She said that they would probably allow her to double up exams Tuesday or early Wednesday (and Jess is ok with that).

I really feel like I am going to throw up. (sorry for TMI)

I stupidly figured we'd be able to leave by noon at the LATEST. If they don't allow her to take that last exam earlier, we won't get to POR til 11pm or midnight.:sad1: Total WASTE of money and kills our plans to see Bob at the River Roost.

The thing that upsets me off the most is that they gave the kids a schedule LAST WEEK and my daughter NEVER GAVE IT TO ME!!! When her teacher emailed me this morning, he asked her if she gave it to me and she said she couldn't remember. She knows I've been waiting for info about this.

She has not given me ANYTHING this year (or last for that matter). The only time I get communication from her school is in the rare event that they mail it home or I call or email. She has gone from straight A's to low B's and C's because she doesn't do her work, doesn't bring it home or back to school, leaves it in her locker, etc. She refuses to go back on her ADD meds, even though she so obviously needs them for at least a while to get her head straight. I am so frustrated I could cry. She has been so moody and nasty. Totally self absorbed. Yesterday she locked herself in her room almost the whole day. Didn't even say happy mother's day to me until dinner time. :(

Well I shouldn't go on about this in my PTR:rolleyes: Sorry for the tangent. I just feel so defeated. I HATE ADOLESCENCE RIGHT NOW! The hormones are driving me mad and I just want my daughter back!

So I am really really upset and freaked out about the exam schedule. Call me a whiner if you will, but I really do think it's crazy.

On that note, I stayed up late last night plugging my revised itinerary into the TGM planning worksheet. It took hours but I am really happy with it.
I also put all the character meet n greet info and showtimes from Steve Soares' site onto documents.

DIVINE
No, kudzu has not taken over AK. But there is a strange new "vine" that's been transplanted around the park and we have to warn you, it has caught quite a few visitors by surprise. Why? Well, "DiVine" isn't your ordinary run-of-the-mill, ten-foot tall plant. In fact, "DiVine" is really performance artist Priscilla Blight who has brought her expressive talents to AK for an exclusive engagement after traveling all over the globe. A gifted performer of the "new vaudeville" genre, Priscilla cleverly conceals herself in a towering, hand-made foliage costume. It is only when she moves that guests realize they are not looking at nature but at "DiVine." And that is the message "DiVine" has for us all - really look at nature. Take time to visit soon and look out for "DiVine!"
Daily at 10:00 & 11:00am, 12:00 & 1:00pm (45 minute sets)

:( They look much prettier in my word document. :confused3 Oh well.

Kids Aflutter with Flower Festival Fun at Epcot

Children can mingle with hundreds of colorful butterflies, scramble around Tinker Bell's Fairy Garden maze and dig into some pizza gardening during the 14th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival April 5 through June 3 at Walt Disney World Resort.

And who can resist a pirate and his foils? Kids won't want to miss the swashbuckling scene at the Epcot main entrance featuring Captain Hook in full floral regalia aboard a blooming pirate ship topiary. Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and Stitch from "Lilo & Stitch" also will appear at the entrance topiary. Other beloved characters making topiary appearances throughout the park are Pirate Mickey Mouse, Princess Minnie Mouse, a towering Pirate Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck, Belle and her Beast, Cinderella and Prince Charming, and stars of the classic Disney film "The Lion King."

Everyone knows kids love to be creative. At the expanded Growing Future Gardeners exhibit, children and their parents can get creative ideas for starting or enhancing their own backyard gardens. And there's even a pizza garden designed to produce herbs and veggies needed to make a healthful, mouth-watering pie. When it's time to burn off some energy, the maze at Tinker Bell's Fairy Garden and the play system at Pluto's Play Zone offer novel activities for youngsters.

Entertainment is on tap for the whole family throughout the event, with highlights including themed weekend activities and the Flower Power concert series starring pop hit-makers of the 1960s and '70s. Thirty million multi-hued blossoms will paint the Epcot landscape with color. Just for kids:
• Tinker Bell's Fairy Garden (Imagination Walkway), with a twinkling Tinker Bell topiary, playground, fairy maze and tunnel crawl, plus Pluto's Play Zone (Test Track Walkway) with fun-filled Evos play system.
• Growing Future Gardeners (Germany pavilion), a collection of gardens where parents and children can get ideas for their own gardening activities such as a pizza garden planted with herbs to make pizza. Kids can also enjoy a new play area at the hands-on exhibit.
• Daily ladybug releases (1 and 3 p.m.) at Growing Future Gardeners (Germany). Children can participate with each release.
• Minnie's Magnificent Butterfly Garden (Test Track Walkway), where hundreds of butterflies inhabit a screened-in gazebo lush with foliage and color.
• Mower Mania (Future World East), allows you to guide a radio-controlled lawnmower through a skill course.
Kidcot Fun Stops at every World Showcase country that entertain children with a lineup of creative activities linked to each country's culture.

Oh, and not sure the tie dyed shirts are going to happen:confused3 I'm still chin deep in pricing yard sale stuff. I'm not going to write it off completely though!:)

Boy do you have me appreciating my little ones, I dread the day they are teenagers, hang in there, you will be in the World soon and surely you will have a fabulous time. That soooo stinks about the exam, I hope they can change it for you, what a bummer!
I love the Steve Soars info, can you send me that link again you can PM it or post it here,I need start doing in depth park planning for our trip too, one month to go now :cool1:

If it makes you feel better, I am also chin deep in garage sale stuff! We spent all day Saturday at our storage unit pulling things out...we have to go back next weekend. And we have to go to my parents to get stuff out of their basement. Our bedroom is full of piles of old baby clothes. I cannot wait to get rid of it all!:woohoo:

:dance3: 9 days!!! Wooohooo!:dance3:

All of my friends say the same thing - they are SOOO glad I get to go through the teenage years first:lmao: Me, not so much :sad2: Don't get me wrong, there is still a lot I enjoy about her being older. We do have lots of fun together but that seems to be rare. *sigh* I hope that we can really reconnect at Disney. I am going to talk to DH about us splitting up (him and the boys, me and Jess) for a couple hours and then switching up another day. Not sure he'll go for that, though:confused3 We'll see.

Thanks for the hug and the prayers! Planning this trip is really helping me get over the hump, so to speak. I just can't wait til we get there. Thanks for commiserating with me on the yard sale stuff. I can't wait til it's all gone!!

I finally got an email back from her SS teacher. She can take the exam at 10:30 that morning. Not as early as I'd hoped but I'll take it. Oh and he said that her elective teachers have to approve... Um, yea, we'll see LOL I can't see them having an issue! Thank God that problem is solved. We won't get there as early as we wanted but that is ok. And I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason. I just had a hard time seeing that earlier in my temper tantrum LOL So if we have to leave later, I believe that it is because if we had left earlier, we would have encountered something that would delay us or worse. KWIM? Focusing on the positive :)

Here is my revised to do list

  • Price yard sale stuff
  • Organize yard sale stuff
  • Have yard sale (duh)
  • Have DH cut the lawn the day before we leave
  • Clean house top to bottom (there is nothing worse than coming home to a dirty house and vice versa!)
  • Get new Epipen for DH
  • Refill meds for myself and Jayden
  • Contact POR with requests and let them know we'll be arriving after dinnertime
  • Get a battery charger and batteries for my camera
  • Tie dye 5 shirts
  • Decide on a design for our other T shirts
  • Return the many things I've bought that don't fit LOL (It's so hard to shop for these kids anymore!)
  • Get new pair of Croc's for me??
  • Finish the last few pages of my 2005 Disney scrapbook
  • PACK!!!! (which I've started already, thank God!)
  • Clean out my car thoroughly (we're swapping with MIL and using her minivan to drive down, so I want to make sure it's nice and clean for her)
  • Have a pedicure (I am going to do this tomorrow with the $25 gift card my sweet SIL sent me for Mother's Day!)
  • Buy DVD player for car - Target $149 for Audiovox 7" dual screen with video game hookups (we are doing this next week!)
  • Try to get to the dentist for the filling that popped out this weekend :(

Doesn't seem to be getting any shorter but I crossed several things off LOL
Gotta run and get Jessica from school.

Sounds like you are back on track! Everything always finds a way of working itself out.
You mentioned above about spending time just with your daughter! I think that's a great idea to split up from the boys for a 2 hour break. You both can go get a manicure or pedicure at one of Disney's Spas, Go on alot of Roller Coasters together, SHOP, Shop and more Shopping or just grab a quick ice cream cone together!
It will be great! I'm enjoying your pre-trip report!!

Your list and daily plans wow! I will certainly look back so that I can get that for my days.

Enjoy your last week till you are at WDW

PS Did ya see my countdown?

:woohoo: 9 more days!!!:woohoo:

I cannot believe it (said in my best Little Einsteins voice!)!

Oh, and not sure the tie dyed shirts are going to happen:confused3 I'm still chin deep in pricing yard sale stuff. I'm not going to write it off completely though!:)

I am SO jealous!! You park plan looks great...I thought I was bad.

I think I have 95 days or something like that. Lots of time to plan, plan, plan. :)
