As happy as I am ... I'm nervous!! My parents are just 50 years young, but have never been to WDW and they are pretty much going just to get it "in" with us and our 3 sons... they say they are excited... but I don't know. Here's the thing, we are going over the 4th of July and we have never gone during the summer before ... any thoughts???? I am booking POP Century and if you know of a good room locations for convenience that would help me out too! I NEED YOU!! Please help me out:) Thanks!!!!!

Be prepared for the heat in Florida. If you can enjoy the fireworks at Mk on the 3rd still crowded but not as crowded as the 4th. If you can plan for a break in the afternoon at the resort. We are from FL but try not to be in the park in the middle of the day too darn hot. My bday is the 5th and so I do enjoy being there during the 4th.

My husband and I honeymooned there over the 4th of July last summer. MK was extremely crowded obviously...but not until the afternoon did it really start picking up. We were there for rope drop and the park was DEAD the first couple of hours. We literally did almost every ride in MK, all walk-ons, we couldn't believe it! Around lunch time it started to get packed, but we had already done the most popular attractions so we just spent the time doing shows where we could take advantage of the AC (country bears, hall of presidents, etc.) because it was so hot. We found a spot about 2 hours before the fireworks because we saw other people already waiting for them. DH went and bought us some playing cards from a gift shop and that was a great way to pass the time. The fireworks were amazing, totally worth the crowds IMHO because they were so moving, a great place to spend the 4th!! Hope this helps :)

Welcome back, Lauren.

OP, I have gone in July and it's HOT. I agree with everyone else-- find A/C or better yet, take an afternoon break to enjoy the pool. Bring in a bottle or two of water-- you will be thirsty (at least if you tour like we do!)

I will emphasize the two thing that will make the biggest difference:

Get there for Rope Drop (park opening)!!!!
Make sure you have a mister with you!!

Expect enormous crowds - July 4th is one of the few days where is it common for MK to close due to capacity. If you are there for rope drop you will have a couple of hours free of the hoards that will fill the park.

Have a great trip!

I wanted to just add to this PP that on the 4th itself, I would not go back to the room for a break...there is a chance you won't be able to get back into the park!

we will be in WDW for that entire week. We plan to go to the parks for rope drop and then head back to the hotel ( offsite) for lunch, swim, and nap, and then go back to the parks after dinner. Good Luck to you!
