I've read all the threads and posts on our Sniper situation here in the DC/MD/VA area (including Ashland). I've seen the news reports and felt EXTREME sorrow for the families and friends of the victims. I have even posted some things I've learned since this ordeal began on Oct. 2nd.

My first concern is safety until this lunatic is caught. Both sides of the coin have valid points. While it may seem questionable to close the schools in Richmond, while the MD and NOVA schools did not, I was not privy to the specifics provided to the Henrico police, so I do not know the reason for the closings. If I had children, I would want to make D*** sure that people were being screened before they were allowed access to the school; maybe it will take a couple of days to get the proper personnel and equipment in place.

My heart goes out to all those in the schools - teachers and students alike. You must be going STIR CRAZY being indoors all the time. A lot of you probably want to go outside and scream, but you can't, because looney-tunes is running around shoooting innocence (spelling intended).

Mr. Moderator, Willy J, sometimes "we" older kids need to be reminded gently that we live in a country where a difference of opinion/religion/etc. is allowed as long as the differences are not mean, derogatory, or harmful in nature.

We have all been through a lot. We survived and became stronger as a nation and as individuals.

To those who wish to do harm or promote terror -- we will not run away. We will not hide. We may be afraid or fearful but we become stronger when we acknowledge and face our fear. I will NOT run. I will NOT hide. I will face you and you will fail in your attempts to disuade me. I am an American and I CAN. So can we all. Remember there is strength in numbers. E pluribus unum.

I appreciate your thoughts Disneyispi and your point is well taken. . I will say that there were some things coming up on the thread that were part of a seperate issue, (not only there but on another thread as well), and when it continued I felt it was best to close it.

There were no hard feelings on my part, and I made sure those involved knew that. . . :)
