Hey eye candy is eye candy, I have a hubby and he knows that I watch Robert on TV for his GUNS and everything else.

I was standing there when that happened, getting some of whatever food he was serving. He had an undershirt on but it was kind of stretched to the limit. So there was some free extra beef cake at PFTS that night.

DW and I met Robert Irvine at the 2007 Food and Wine Fest. He is a big boy but one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

Too bad we will not know for awhile who is attending what events, that would be so nice to meet him :lovestruc:love:

Just this past week, my family went for Spring Break to DVC HHI. We are big fans of Dinner Impossible and found out that Robert Irvine had a rest. on Hilton Head called Robert Irvine's Eat. We made res. and was seated in the lounge area. We really did not expect to see him...just wanted to eat at his rest. And much to our surprise...after we were seated...in walked Robert Irvine...loud and happy saying hello to his employees. He went into the kitchen for a few minutes and came right over and sat down at our table!!!

He was talking to us...then he called our waitress over and had her bring us free samples ...he wanted us to try. He got his first published book...signed it and gave it to my 8 yr. old niece...told her to read one chapter a week. He signed pictures of himself with individual message to the rest of my family and asked each one of us...what we did, were my kids go to school at, etc....he was at our table for almost a half hr.!!! What a treat!!! I even asked him if he was doing Disney FW again this year and he told me yes. At DisneyLand for theirs then at World around the end of Oct. this year. He even gave us his email and told us to write to him and if we had any questions...he will respond back to us. What a neat and wonderful person he is and that was truely a memorable experience for my 8 yr. old niece and my family, who are big fans!!!!

disneystick....

That sounds like some wonderful memories were made there. I am jealous:eek:, I am sure it was a treat to spend some time with him like that.

I hate to hear that will be there the end of October, that means I will not get to see him while I am there. Thanks for all the wonderful info.

Have a great day!:goodvibes

A friend & I met Robert Irvine at PftS last year. What a really wonderful, warm, open, friendly man. It was obvious that he was really enjoying himself. I have a great picture of us with him. Very cool.

We'll be there the 13th - 22nd. We're hoping for some good guest chefs / dinners during our trip. We always miss the ones we want to go to, altho I guess I'm glad I missed the Todd English / BlueZoo dinner last year from the awful reviews posted here. Still, I really wish they'd release the info on the hard ticket events sooner. If they can release the readers for the Candlelight Processional so early, why can't they do better for the F&W Fest? :confused3

Hi all!
I'm going on a girls' trip in November and we are planning one day at Epcot for F & W (a Thursday - hopefully crowds won't be too bad). So, if you only had one day, what would you recomend as the "must-do's"? Thanks! :thumbsup2

We have been going to the Food & Wine Fest for the last 4 years and have never tried the Party of the Senses. I was thinking of doing so this year. Let me know if is worth it. Also, we have a group of 10 and 2 are children. Do they allow children? :banana:Also, when do they come out with the dates? Our stay is over 2 Saturdays so I am hoping we can get in to one of them as I understand they are only held on Satiurdays.

I have not seen any children at PftS. It's not really a kid friendly event. A large part of the cost is the wine/cocktail tasting. Plus there aren't any typical kid foods. I think you'd be better off getting a sitter for the night or using one of the kids clubs.

Details usually aren't released until July or so. Booking usually starts in Aug. PftS is held every Sat of the Fest.

PFTS isn't a kid friendly event at all but I have seen children there. One year (not last year; there were pretty much no children last year but I went on Halloween and I would assume all the kids were probably elsewhere that night) there was a family with at least five young children camped on the floor with a blanket spread out. The table next to ours was a large one and at least four small children were seated there. Personally I would not bring children. It is not an event for children and I can't imagine why so many decided to bring little kids as nothing special is offered for them. Teens who are interested in food and in the culinary world would like it.

The price for the party last year was $135 per person. There is no child's menu and no child's price; I'm assuming you pay the same amount for children. The year all those folks came in with kids, I saw the kids with lidded cups; don't know if they had water or soft drinks in them but generally the only non-alcoholic beverages I have seen offered are water, coffee and tea.

I would suggest checking out the menus before you go and doing a "tour" around the kiosk's. You could each get one thing at a booth and then share. That way - you'd have a bigger opportunity to try things.

What a fun day!

I wouldn't count on an event schedule in May...it's usually not out until July.

Thanks so much! I wish it could be more than one day - but I'll take what I can get! :)

Subscribing (even though I don't need to)...

Just made my ressie requests for F&W (DH couldn't make up his mind)! Hopefully I'll be successful....

Looking forward to our second Food and Wine Festival. Last year I was not in great shape and didn't enjoy much of it. Hopefully this year will be different. We did see Bobbie Deen at the Beach Club while we were waiting to get into Cape May.

Dates this year start 10-1-2010 and end 11-14-2010

We are going the first week, but have never been. Will it be a total zoo? We really don't feel like fighting crowds
thanks!!:)

The first weekend should be pretty crowded with the Marathon crowd and the opening weekend. The weekdays can still be crowded but will be much more manageable.

We will be at the F & W Fest.
We had OKW at the 11 month window , then got BCV at 7 months !
Son and daughter will run the Marathon Relay the first weekend in October.
