The 2010 Baltic Thread--Cruise Tips and Planning

Darn, so much for advance planning.....

On March 11 we bought 4 HOHO tickets in Stockholm. Shortly thereafter they shortened the port time by by 3.5 hrs. Nevertheless, we kept out tickets.

Today I check the exchange rate for the Kronor:

1,040.00 SEK = 131.836 USD Today

1,040.00 SEK = 146.333 USD Thursday, March 11

So the 4 HOHO tickets we bought on March 11, would now only cost $14.497 less.....just a tad short of $14.50. :-)

OK, in the grand schem of this, this is negligble....guess I'm just running out of things to worry about. Less than 3 weeks till we fly out....

I bet that most of us are kicking ourselves for some of our 'planning ahead'.

About a month ago, I prepaid for eurostar tickets from ashford to DLP and four nights at DLP with park passes. I would have saved a bunch had I waited.

Ahh... but remember Eurostar tickets goes up as the train gets filled. :thumbsup2 ... good time to buy currency though!

Agree with that:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We've bought half of what we think we'll need already (sort of hedigng against things improving before we leave) but are watching every day for when we should buy more.

I haven't bought anything ahead of time except arranging for the St. Petersburg tour (which doesn't really count because I don't pay for it until I get there), nor am I purchasing currency before the trip. If the volcano keeps me home, I don't want to be sitting there with lots of city cards and foreign currency. But then I am the only person I need to buy for, so it's not like I am hitting the ground and trying to get a family running in port.

 We received our cruise documents today for the 6/24 Baltic cruise!

Now we wait and cross every appendage in hopes the Iceland volcano and Atlantic winds dont screw things up for us coming from the USA!

Got ours for the June 24th trip also! :cheer2::tinker:

I don't remember seeing it posted in this thread, but the Disney Cruise Line website now has video podcasts highlighting each of the Baltic ports. I don't know how informative they are since I haven't watched them yet, but they're there.

Just got my luggage tags in the mail for 24 JUNE cruise!!! How is everyone getting to the cruise terminal from London...the Disney transfer seems expensive.

Also renting a car from Waterloo station (near hotel) 77 pounds inclusive.
Hoping to stop enroute at Canterbury- if I am brave enough!

I assume it a one way rental or are you keeping it at the dock? Also, not sure I could get used to driving a british car

Disney transfers from Heathrow. Landing 10:05 the same day as the cruise departure, and if it's late they might wait for me if Disney is transporting me.

We have selected to transfer with a private company from the airport (Heathrow) to our hotel in London, from hotel to Dover cruise terminal, from Dover cruise terminal back to the London hotel. The price is less than the Disney transfer for 3 people, plus it's a private car rather than a bus. The name of the company is Eddie Manning. I got their name from another post on this board. We are arriving 3 days before the cruise, and staying 2 days after in London.

We are taking the fast train (journey time just over an hour) to Dover from St. Pancras station with a return. I just ordered the tickets the other day from www.thetrainline.com. Total was 110 pounds for two adults and two children.
