i thought they did, but i didn't know if it was something you have to request. thanks!

I saw the rehab update on Mousesavers last night about the slide being closed in May. Our trip is not until the first week of June so hoepfully it will be open by then. We are looking forward to SAB but not the end of the world if the big slide is still closed. I would just take them over to BWI for a swim on one afternoon so they can use the slide there. Things like this happen and it's not going to ruin my vacation :goodvibes still looking forward to Beach Club.

I just got the letter in the mail =( Im very sad about this! that was one of the main reasons I chose beach club so my oldest could use the slide because that was his fave thing about our last disney trip. We are there may 5-10 so of course its right when the begin the rehab! How much of a hassle do you think it will be to get over to BWI for a swim?

Hi All,

I've gotten all sorts of great info for our next trip from these forums so I'm hoping I can count on you all again. We are arriving late next week for a much awaited trip with our two DS's, 10yo and 6yo. We're staying elsewhere on site, but our last night is one night for the first time at the Beach Club. It's also our 21st wedding anniversary, so we decided to try something new.

We have dinner reservations, but we wanted to make some fairly relaxed plans for afterwards (we don't fly out until late the next morning). I've read about the campfires and movies on these forums, but after hunting around, I can't find much information.

Does anyone know what time the campfire starts, if there is a marshmallow roast (and the price) and what the movie choice and time would be for a Thursday night?

Thanks for all the help!

does anyone have the link to the map of BC that room numbers by floor and which category they fall under? I checked 50+ pages of the thread and can't find it.

thanks.

I'm sure this doesn't happen all the time, but I just wanted to let you know our experience. We had a standard view room with a daybed (we are a family of 5) and a balcony. After reading more of this thread, I'm not sure if it counts as a full balcony, but it had two chairs and a little table and we used it a ton - kids used it in the morning for breakfast before we left for the parks, and we sat out there after they went to bed at night.

We had not requested any particular kind of balcony or anything else. But I did tell the CM during our 8am check-in that we didn't need our room until the end of the day, so whenever it was ready was absolutely fine. I was hoping flexibility would help in the event we didn't like something about our room. But the room was ready right away and it was great!

In any event, our standard view room faced EPCOT and we could see a bit of the Eiffel Tower and the Illuminations fireworks at night. During the day, it was just the trees, but we didn't spend much time in the room during the day. The view of the fireworks was amazing!

If you had two chairs and a small table, it was a full balcony. The standing balcony is just that ... big enough for one person to stand on, period! And you are absolutely right, saying you didn't need your room until the end of the day helps big time ... we strive to get you into a ready room so sometimes to do that, we might not meet your requests.

This is the link but the categories are not correct. This is a very very very old layoff map. The room numbers are correct but you should not rely on any other information on it. http://www.disneyzone.net/bcresort.htm

I'll try to remember to bring the April recreation guide home this weekend and let you know. The movies are normally around 8 PM (when it gets dark). There are loads of activities throughout each day too.

I just got a letter today from Disney (in the mail USPS).
Explaining that the SAB Slide will be closed beginning May 1 til "late May".

All other portions of the SAB will remain open.

THe letter goes on to say that they are offering shuttle service to Luna Park at the Boardwalk Inn & Villas. This pool area has a slide "if the slide is an important part of your Disney experience."

When people say "letters", do they mean email or hard copy mail? I'm staying May 6-10th and have not received anything about this...not that I need the letter to give me info (thats what everyone here is for!), but just want to make sure I'm in the system (we originally booked CBR and later changed to BC...every confirmation I have says they have me set for BC but just wondering why i wouldn't get this communication).

Teena- since you are the authority here, do you know if this affects the kiddie area at all? From pictures, it looks like its right by the slide entrance so would the workers and such be over there and have to close the toddler pool? That was likely the only "slide" we'd be using anyway (with the exception of me and the wife maybe sneaking off once each to try out the SAB slide)...but our little guy isn't much of an adventurer anyway so that won't affect us!

Has anyone used the laundry facility at the Beach Club? We will be staying for 2 weeks at WDW (Beach Club and Poly) and would like to do some laundry before heading off to the Poly. Thanks!

Does anybody know if you buy the Wi-Fi access can you use it in the room or only in the lobby and pool area? I was wondering whether to get WiFi or just the room access. Thanks for any help!

You don't have to buy WiFi at the BC. It's available for FREE in the lobby! Just go down there with your laptop/netbook/ipod touch, etc. You will be able to log into the free network as soon as you launch your browser. No password required.

There is no WiFi in the ROOMS, though. If you want internet access from there, you have to use the Ethernet cord provided in the room. It's hanging in the closet. Once you hook up, and launch the browser, you are asked to confirm that you want to connect, at the cost of $9.95 for 24 consecutive hours.

And, although I had read otherwise, the wifi does not extend to SAB area, or very far beyond the lobby proper. I tried to hook up to the WiFi network on my ipod touch while in the gym, and it didn't work. It worked in the lobby, though, as well as the seating area outside of the BC Marketplace.

I've never used it but it's across from the quiet pool.

I did last week! If you are going soon, you will have to use the outer building laundry room located next to the quiet pool. It had 4 washers, 8 dryers. It was a good sized room! I did laundry early in the a.m. around 7:30. There were two other people in there, but enough w/d to go around. There is another laundry room on the first floor, but it is currently being refurbished. (Someone should tell that to the Concierge CM's who were directing people there...all week).

All of SAB has free WiFi too. You have to be outside at the pool, not in the gym. Some people actually have trouble in the lobby if they sit in the middle of the lobby and not near the window. It apparently works on the back porch area too.

As far as your requests go, if having a full balcony is the biggy for you, I'd just go with that. Most people request a full balcony and if you have a secondary request, sometimes they will go with just that. Honestly, if I were you, I'd make one request but make it sort of a plural "full balcony second floor please." Most of the second floor standard view rooms have full balconies so that gives you a better chance of getting a full balcony and most are decent views. Remember, when you first go into your room, if it is not a view or balcony you like, don't touch anything, don't use the bathroom, just walk back to the front desk and ask them if you could have another room. There might not be one available on your check-in day that you like. If that's the case, you can ask for a room change the next day if one that you like is available then. We try really really hard to make your vacation a happy one. If a view is really really important, you should upgrade to a water view and then you only need to request a full balcony.

Teena, thanks for your response. Don't want to sound picky or that the room assignment will ruin anything (it won't, our view at Wilderness was of a sandbox). And per some of your other posts, the money spent on a water view could be used for other things. Just trying to be prepared. We typically aren't the type to move after one night (not with a 5 and 7 yr old), but it's nice to know we could possibly do so.

We actually arrive late on the 26th (land around 7:15pm so probably not to the resort til 8:30-9:00 I assume?). Is that so late that it could work against us? Also, with that time of arrival, how late will luggage be delivered to the room? Is there a certain time in which they won't deliver and wait until the next morning?

There is a time limit on the bags when you arrive late and they do hold them until the next morning. Unfortunately I don't know what the cut off time is. Normally we say the bags will be delivered to your room about 3 hours after you arrive. Therefore, I think since you have young kids, I'd probably opt to take them yourself but that is totally up to you. If you land at 7:15 and there are no delays, it could put you at the resort as late as 9:15. Some people make it as quick as an hour after landing, some two hours. It all depends on how quickly they send the buses, how many stops, etc.

As far as it working against you as far as your room requests, not really. Hopefully you will be blocked into a room with a full balcony. Ask at check-in ... don't even get to the room ... and if you don't have a full balcony, hopefully they can switch you right there and then. If we are full and there is no full balcony available the night you check-in, although you don't want to change rooms the next day, that may be your only way of getting one. Only you can make that decision.

I just got notification that the slide is going to be closed during our May trip. :( That is the reason my 4 year old wanted to stay at Beach Club again.
