The 2009 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ Thread

HI,

Coming down May 8th to 15th and we have requested a full balconey at the Beach Club. Really important to us as my DH and I love to sit out at night when our kids are settling down. If we are in a standard room with full balconey what will be our view.

Please remember that a request is just that. It is no guarantee you will get a full balcony.

Whether or not you do get a full balcony, if you booked a standard room, it could be on the first, second, third or fourth floors and the view could be a parking lot, a courtyard, a roof, or the woods.

We arrive at the YC on 5/13 staying CL. I am SO excited. I've wanted to stay at either the YC or BC for years and we are finally getting to! :woohoo:Can't wait to get down there. Thanks for all the great information on this thread. :thumbsup2

Hello all~

I have a question about the deluxe rooms. I've read snippets of this thread, but haven't found much info. I understand the rooms are larger and we will not be on the 5th floor. Do they have a second tv? Is there a sitting area, or are they just a larger room with a daybed? If there are only a handful of these rooms, does anyone know the view/balcony situation for each of the rooms? Also, regarding the club lounge, is there an outside seating area and what is the view (if any) off the lounge?

Thank you in advance~I'm sure these questions have been asked before.

No second TV. No sitting area, just a larger room with a daybed. There are six of them. One has a patio and the rest have either full balconies or standing balconies. Views are nice from all of them - no parking lots or roof views.

I know I told everybody I'd be there all of May (on my normal Sundays and Mondays) but Bob just said, let's go back on a four day Disney cruise so we can get you back to Stormalong Bay since it rained two weeks ago when we were there.

So, maybe I'll be missing one of those Sundays and Mondays in May afterall. I'll keep you all informed once I figure out if we are doing it and the dates.

Yep, he was so cute. I'm still coughing and wheezing since my last bad sinus infection almost 3 months ago. I catch so many bugs pin trading or as my doctor says "germ trading". I told him today that I guess I better get back to the doctor but I knew she was going to put me on prednisone and I hate it because of the side effects. Bob said "Castaway Cay's sunshine would probably do the trick too ... look for a 4 nighter in May".

How wonderful! I think Castaway Cay probably is the best medicine!!!
What a guy!

Oh yes, it's a huge part of my job. I think today I traded 50 pins.

Fabulous, they are each bringing about 40 official disney trading pins that we bought online to trade so we will be sure to find you. :)

And Congrats on the May Cruise!!!

Hi,

We are staying at BC for our trip in June. I just have a question about an ADR I just made at Kona at the Poly. I was just thinking what the best way to get there would be as our ADR is for breakfast at 7:45 am. We will have our car there as we are driving down, but since our park that day will be MK we hated to park at TTC or MK and then have to drive back later. Do buses to MK or TTC start early enough to get to the Poly by 7:45? We tried this several years ago and never made our ADR due to the numerous stops the bus made.

I may have just talked myself into driving to the Poly (I do tend to stress over stuff like this!). Can't miss Kona though!

Can anyone tell me if standard view rooms at the YC have day beds?

We are still trying to figure out if the YC is the right choice or if we should consider moving our ressies to a different resort.

Thanks!

At both the Yacht Club and the Beach Club, some of the standard rooms have daybeds, some do not. If you have five people on the reservation, you will get a five sleeper. If you have under five and still want a daybed, you can request one, but keep in mind that requests are not guaranteed.

You know, in 3 years of reading these boards, no matter which forum it has been (resort, transportation, theme park), I have never seen a definitive answer about early morning breakfast buses. My response is no different, BUT:

1) There is a character breakfast at Ohana every morning, so there SHOULD be bus transport to the Poly from BC that early

2) Last July, we had no problem making it to Extra Magic Hours (8 AM) at MK and AK by bus, so there are definately buses running, not sure if they would stop at the Poly or if you would have to hop the monorail

3) 2 years ago while staying at All Star Music, we had a 7:35 reservation for Kona, we were out at the bus stop by 6:45 and a bus did not show up until around 7:20. Very frustrating, but Kona had no problem honoring our reservation when we finally arrived. We have been twice first thing in the morning, and they were not that busy.

4) A taxi is around $15, plus tip. I know you have a car, but if it helps cut down on your stress, then it is definitely worth it.

Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes! Tonga Toast! Yum!!!

I read a rumor somewhere that the SAB slide was down until sometime in May, but I can't find anything about it here? Are there rehabs being done on the pool right now? :confused3 If so, when will things be back to normal.

Just to add to this. We were at the BC in Feb. One morning we had an early ADR at the Poly and took a cab. $13. Another morning we had an ADR in MK before opening. I was told there was a 7am bus. We met another family waiting for the bus and they had been told 7:20. The bus arrived at 7:05 and they were glad they were early. We compared notes and had both asked at the front desk. I had asked the day before and she had asked that morning. We had our car but did not want to deal. Oh and that family had an ADR at the Contemporary and the bus stopped there to drop them off before dropping us at MK.

I'll chime in here too, as we do a lot of character breakfasts. The buses actually start running "around" 6:45am. We usually try to get to the bus stop by 6:40 at the latest to get that first bus. Last year we had a 7:00am ADR at Chef Mickey's. Caught the bus (from ASMu) around 6:45. We were the only ones on the bus and the driver dropped us off at the Contemporary.

Not true. There are NO pool refurbishments going on at BC/YC right now. We were there last week. My son went down that slide no less than 20 times. :thumbsup2

SAB as well as the quiet pools are 100% open.
