Glad to hear you had a great time:goodvibes Question: how far was the walk from the YC to the Dolphin? We are planning on going to Piccabu's for a few meals because of the great variety on the menu for breakfast and lunch/dinner. We have never stayed in the Epcot area so I am a little unfamiliar to the distance. And...can you relate the distance to something...like the walk from MK turnstile to the castle or is it like one side of the Poly to the other end or ??? something like that:lovestruc

TIA

I once used Google Earth to measure that distance. It's something like 500 meters. So, approximately a quarter mile using the paths. 5 min walking.

We are planning lots of trips over to the Dolphin for dining as well! 50% off for active duty military!!!

That's so funny. When I read your post my first thought was "she's going to switch again to BWI" but didn't want you to take it the wrong way:goodvibes

Oh good grief I would be at BWI in the first place if not for old SAB! Good for DD but I might have to visit Pete at the Innkeepers Club!!!! My DD11 had to have reconstructive ear surgery in Septemeber (totally a new ear drum grafted..). At her follow up appt in May, should the surgeon be dicey with water exposure I already told DD we are out of YC and back into BWI and she agreed. How tormenting it would be to see SAB and not be able to swim in it????

Great info--Thanks:thumbsup2 Piccabu's menu looks great and I think it will fill the gap for the lack of counter service options at the YC/BC/BW area. I can't get a military discount but I read they do give a AAA discount and every little bit helps. Also planning on date night at Bluezoo. Very excited about that one as the reviews are stellar.

Us too! We'll be there for dinner on 3/27. I'll report back how it was. MIL will be watching our kids. Love her for that!

We're staying CL at BC, but I think we'll venture over to Picabu's for some hot breakfast one or two times. Our kids LOVE wafles and pancakes, and all that stuff.

Thanks to everyone and their great information I just rebooked our trip at the YC and was able to save over $500 since they are no longer blocking out Easter for the 35% off rates. :woohoo:Considered using the saving to upgrade to CL but since it's the week before Easter I am not sure if we will make it back to the resort to use the CL since the parks will be so crowded and we're afraid they may close and we might not get back in at night if we leave. We're arriving on 3/28 and we're hoping to see the movie on the beach. Does anyone know where I can find the schedule? CAN"T wait!!!

Great minds think alike--haha:lmao: We are taking our girls to the Sandcastle Club for date night. They loved the Neverland Club last year so I expect it will be the same again with the Sandcastle Club--begging to stay.

Piccabu's bfst menu looks awesome. It has my 2 favs...biscuits with sausage gravy and corned beef hash..but not at the same time:scared1: The dinner menu with the rotisserie chicken and the pot roast looks good too and you can have veggies on the side which is a godsend for a counter service meal.

I will look forward to your review when you return.:surfweb:

We have an ADR for date night at Bluezoo in August! Too funny! :thumbsup2

We'll be trying the Sandcastle club later in the week for a second date night (MIL is only coming for the weekend of our stay, then she has to go back to work). Our kids have Autism and a Speech Delay, though. Not sure how they'll do at the club, although they have both been going to school for a couple years. They are only 5 and 4. We'll be eating in World Showcase the day we leave them at the club, so we'll be able to get back quickly if needed.

My DD9 is PDD-NOS and she does great in the kids clubs. They are so accomodating. She also has food allergies and they are prepared for that as well.

That being said, our first date night at WDW was when she was 6 and I was apprehensive about the kids clubs for her at that age because she was not as verbal at that point and needed help when using the restroom because of motor control. We hired Fairy Godmothers for an inroom sitter and they sent a Granny who used to be a teacher and she was wonderful. Kids were asleep when we returned. It was a great experience.

Not far at all . . . 5 minutes the most. It's a big circle and if you head out of the YC and head towards the right and walk a bit you then have an option to bear to the left to head towards Boardwalk or go over a little bridge and it will lead you to the Swan/Dolphin. I actually asked a CM in the lobby to see what would be the best way to get there (car we drove, taxi, or walk)...he said "to walk . . . it's the quickest way" :)

We ate at Il Mulino's at the Swan . . . it was very good besides the fact the waiter spilled a glass of port wine all over my husband :rotfl2: it looked like he was shot lol. It ruined every (and I mean every) piece of clothing he had on. Accidents happen so we weren't mad or anything . . . not until the manager of the restaurant came over and gave us his card and said they can get it dried clean.....:confused3 There was no way they could get it out. So all we asked for was a shirt...thinking they'd just grab a t-shirt in the gift store there. What did he bring to my DH? a lost and found shirt! Then we were fuming. We were there for a birthday party and didn't want to make a big deal. My DH had to get showered when we got back to the room and change cause the port wine stained his skin lol.

So the next day we brought the clothes and shoes to the front desk and explained to the person there and he was in shock. He said he'd try to get it clean if not he would do something. We explained our BIL was staying there and we weren't so send it to his room or apply anything to his bill.

We left the next day and kind of forgot about it until we met up with my BIL at the airport and they had the shoes in the bag with a note saying they couldn't do anything. Not only that they charged my BIL $6 to try :scared1: We were fuming. My BIL went to the front desk and said not that $6 is going to break the bank; however, that is far from the point here....you guys ruined his entire outfit and then you charge us for something you couldn't get out...he immediately took it off but can you imagine! And guess what. . . we are home without the outfit (stained or not) lol. Just couldn't believe it.

Sorry for going off topic....when you all were talking about the restaurants there I had to bring it up lol.

Note to self: Order only WHITE wine at Il Mulino and make sure to mask the crime scene with port wine....:lmao: Funny but not funny story. Geez. That was crudy customer service everywhere you turned for help.

Thanks for the directions tip. I am directionally challenged so I do appreciate you telling me rights and lefts instead of north, south, east and west. I am a left right monument type of gal on directions:goodvibes I am hoping Picabu's won't be too far to walk for counter service food but at least there is a nice variety on the menu.

Anybody know if I can get a REAL cup of coffee in the YC? Is there a coffee kiosk somewhere? I know at CR there was the Contemporary Grounds. At Poly they had the Kona Coffee bar. I am hoping YC has something too.

YC coffee - in the morning Ale and Compass Lounge in YC lobby is open serving coffee (you can use a refillable mug there)....now I would not say it is the same standard as Kona Coffee bar. If you are really desperate for a better cup of coffee, walk over to Swan.

Coffee in the morning - this is one thing I can truly appreciate about Club Level!

For those inquiring about the temp, the lifeguards have just told us that SB is at 81 degrees, so even though the air is chilly (esp. when it's cloudy) all the kids are enjoying the water. I think it's barely in the 70's today, but there are lots of swimmers!
Thought I'd share :)

oh, thanks so much- we're coming in tomorrow and the kids were wondering about swimming! nice of you to post!!

Thanks for the update! I just took my kids swimming at our complex pool yesterday..we're having a heat wave here...78 yesterday! ;) Our pool temp was 77 and the kids did fine, so I know they'll be good to go in 10 days when we arrive at BC!

We were at BC last week, and there were lots of swimmers during the day - it was chilly (especially climbing the stairs to the slide!), but I agree the water was comfortable. SAB was open until 10pm, which was really nice for our boys because they like to swim at the end of the day.

Also, BC was wonderful!!! For anyone reading this thread because they are considering BC, I cannot recommend it enough! We have been staying at WL lately, so the only thing I missed was the WL lobby. Other than that, we are entirely sold on BC and are definitely booking for next year. The rooms are wonderful - we had a standard room with a daybed and full balcony and could see Illuminations and the Eiffel tower from our room. The new decor is bright and sunny, and the room was super clean. In our opinion, the location cannot be beat. We were considering CR next year for the monorail, but we decided that walking to EPCOT and DHS from BC cannot be beat (and DHS surpassed MK as our favorite park this time.) I stayed at BC several years ago, and forgot how wonderful the IG entrance is!! And, of course, the pool . . .

I booked a studio at BCV, but my online confirmation has a room type of "Club Level". Does anyone know what that means?
Also, can anyone confirm that Southwest is now participating in RAC for bag checkin at BC?
Thanks!

Pixarmom:

Thanks for your feedback! We love the WL too (honeymooned there), as well as the Contemporary. We decided to switch it up and TRY an Epcot resort this time (first time with our kids at the World), because Epcot is our favorite park and we don't anticipate much time at MK due to our kids getting to go to Disneyland practically every week. DH wanted to try the BC, so I hope I love it as much as WL! I'm VERY excited about all the things to do in that area. Our kids are not much for staying in parks more than about 3-4 hours max. in a day, so we'll be doing LOTS of swimming at SAB as well as renting boats, bikes, walking to mini golf, etc.

We just got back in Jan. stayed at YC. The IG entrance/ exit cannot be beat. We left Epcot many times during the day and walked back to our resort, rested and then headed back out for the evening. We loved it.

As long as you are prepared for a very very different lobby than WL - I think it will be great! We usually go all day - never came back to the resort, kids did really well with stroller naps - but it was just too easy to take a short break at BC, so we did! And the whole crescent lake area is so lively. So I hope that you love it as much as we do!

And Irvine, CA - yay! I've vacationed in Newport Beach since childhood, and now go with my family nearly every year. I went to DL several times as a child, but we've never taken our kids - it will be their first time this summer, and I have a lot to learn. We'll get our lobby fix at the GC, now that those great summer rates just came out - see you on the DL board!!
