I booked two rooms at yacht club with an authorized Disney TA. She said that I was unable to add dining. Why is this? Is it based on the room rate? I did get a discounted rate through the TA.

The best transportation option is always the same.....your own two feet.:goodvibes

If you mean the manner in which the CMs handle opening IG, I think you're right. It seems to be a matter of YMMV on any given day. To us, it is not a big deal though. Even in worse case, you will just miss that first rush of guests and that's not bad IMO.

Agree.:dancer:

I believe to have the dining plan you have to have a package. Sounds like you booked room only?? In order to add tickets and dining you would have to change your reservation to a package and then you will not be able to use your discount I am guessing.

Just subscribing to this thread after a year off. We're booked at YC for first week Dec. 2010. Started to look at what's been happening for the last year here. Can't wait to get back there. TeenaS I'm glad to see you are still here providing great insight and information. We're going to be taking some newbies with us on this trip (B & SIL) and we have a while to plan things for them. Looking forward to that.

Our family will be staying at the beach club this coming Xmas. Other extended family will be in the WDW area offsite visiting us from time to time including XMas eve where we have plans to walk over and do the Candlelight Processional thing as well as dinner.

Are there going to be any issues with parking? Can we as resort guests allow them to have visitor parking passes that last for more than just 2 hours?

Also, along the same theme, I know that resort pool hopping is not allowed at the YBC but does anyone know if you have family visitors this is allowed?

Although we are staying off-site we have treated ourselves to two nights at the Yacht Club over New Year. On the day we check-out will we be OK leaving our car in the Yacht Club car park whilst we visit Epcot? And if we decide to visit other parks will we get free parking for that day? If so, what will I have to show for this, will it be a hotel ID card?

Many thanks. :flower3:

When you check-in, you will get a parking pass to put in your car. It will show your check-in and check-out dates. Technically you are a guest of the YC until midnight on the day you check out. Yes, you will be able to drive to parks and get free parking or you can leave the car at the resort and use the Disney transportation. One of the big advantages to staying at the Y&B is the easy walk to Epcot. And I would never drive to the Magic Kingdom. You have to park at the TTC, walk and wait for the parking lot tram which takes you to the TTC, then wait for the monorail or ferry boat to take you to the MK. I would just hop on the bus right at the resort and not have to deal with the TTC. To get to the Studios, we have boat service and bus service to Animal Kingdom.

Thank you, Teena. :goodvibes Sorry, I should have made myself clearer about the free parking. I meant to ask if we would still have it on the day we check-out. We are staying on the 30th and 31st ~ on the 30th we will take the bus to MK to watch the fireworks and on New Year's Eve it will be utter bliss to be able to walk back from Epcot.

I am so excited about staying at the Yacht Club. This is our very first stay in a Disney hotel :yay: and I can't wait! :cloud9:

Elaine, I think Teena did understand that. You will be able to park at the YC on the 30th, 31 and 1st. Have fun!

We've been here at the Yacht Club since Saturday (Halloween). Every time we come here, we're still impressed. Weather right now is perfect - 78 degrees and no humidity. We try to swim in SAB every day.

It's Christmas in DHS - the tree and decorations are up and Christmas music is playing throughout the park. So far, no evidence of Christmas here at the Yacht Club (although, I have my eyes peeled for any signs).

Don't want to go home!

Hi Teena ,

I wanted to say that we will be in Disney in 25 days and we are really looking forward to meeting you. We are staying at the BC but we are going to go next door to check out YC's Christmas Decorations plus we have ADRs for Yachtsmen's Steakhouse and Captain's Grill...very excited. I have an OT question for you. Since you obviously have been in Disney for December, I was wondering if you can tell me what the weather is typically like for the first week. Basically, I am racking my brain trying to figure out what type of clothing I should bring for my family of 4. We are going to MVMCP one night and we love to do both the Evening and morning EMHs, so I know we will definitely be needing coats for that (plus I am bringing some lightweight gloves and earmuffs for the girls for our MVMCP night), other than that, should I bring shorts or capris, or just stick with jeans and slacks, or both. Thank you for any info you can give me.

Is it possible to see the fireworks at DHS or EPCOT from the beach area?

You can see them, but they aren't the full on view obviously! You only see the fireworks that go highest up in the sky. Our favorite thing was watching the movie on the beach with the kids. My husband and I kick back on the back chairs with our drinks while the kids play in the sand, with a movie playing. We'll toast marshmallows, make smores, and then while all that is happening, you will see the fireworks from DHS and Epcot. Relaxing, fun, and definitely our FAVORITE part of the YC/BC!

I look forward to meeting you too. Look for me in the BC lobby on Sundays and Mondays.

That's a really tough question and I wish I could give you a definitive answer. When people ask me what to pack for late November, December, January, February and March, I always tell them to pack for 80's, 70's, 60's and 50's. You never know. I've seen late November in the low 60's during the day and at night in the 50's ... blur!! But I've also sat at the Candlelight Processional and watched choir members faint from the heat in December at night. You really need to be prepared for everything!! That's the only bad thing about coming to WDW during these months. Even when you look at the extended forecast before you arrive, you have to keep in mind that we have water (which controls the weather) an hour away on each side of us. Those oceans constantly change the weather forecasts. Our forecasters are lucky to get it right 24 hours in advance. I'm so sorry I can't give you a better answer. My daughter and her boyfriend are heading here for two weeks in December and I told them to pack for HOT and COLD and everything inbetween. She's not happy with that but I reminded her about last year at the Candlelight Processional where we had on long jeans, sweatshirts and coats and hats and mittens and were still freezing and I also reminded her about two years ago at the same time when people were moaning about how hot it was (low 90's).

See you soon!

Couple of disappointing things I've noticed during this trip:

-There's no more resort-specific merchandise in the gift shops. CM told me they are eliminating for all resorts.

-Looking over at the Boardwalk (as I type this) - the neon signs are almost all gone. The only ones left are Flying Fish and ESPN Zone. It seems less like a boardwalk and more just like a low-key restaurant area.

-There's no more classic cartoons channel on the TV cable. You have to go to the lobby to watch.

Still, it's my favorite place in all of WDW and I wouldn't stay anywhere else (without question).

No more resort specific merchandise? There was still a lot when we were there in September :confused3 Glad I got my BC shirt when I did! That's a bummer that you won't be able to get those things anymore :sad2:

Really? No more resort specific items... I think that is a silly (and disappointing) decision on their part to discontinue that.

That has unfortunately been in progress for some time. Disney is going generic, which in the end I think will hurt sales.

BWV is under exterior rehab, isn't it? That probably cut way down on the sign, at least temporarily.

At least in some locations, if you know where to find it you might still be able to tune it in. Its on one of the channels in the 90s - 97 or 98 IIRC. But some TVs have it completely locked out.
